@@arconeagain Everyone knows it's really bad ettiquette to bring fart fuel into a submarine, much less eat it. There was a scene in the movie "Down Periscope" where the elderly submarine has to keep quiet. Not a single sound. The ship's cook lets off a loud rumbler of a fart. The sonar operator in the warship above them says "I think I just heard some kind of explosion sir."
Terrifying combination. The crew will be so bewildered that they won't be ready for the torpedoes. Just imagine listening to "Land down under" while being torped to shit.
"Sir we're detecting some strange signals coming from the coral." "Use the sonar a...." "I COME FROM A LAND DOWN UNDER" "What in the..." "Sir, It sounds like an Australian sub, they're torpedoing us" "Yeah no sh..."
"The US Navy was supposed to turn off their sonar to give the Australians a chance to slip away, but they haven't done that" So the 'muricans cheated and still lost?
No you dont, because US subs don't showboat like that. They just let you get your bait fish training and file after action reports with the Admiralty. Which the public NEVER sees. Bye bye bait fish.
Meanwhile, on the USS O’Kane: Sonar tech: One minute, he was steady hundred yards off the bow and then he was gone, and for a second, I thought I heard... Captain: Thought you heard what? Sonar tech: I thought I heard singing, sir.
They neglect to mention that was the entire goal of the exercise. This is how allied nations prepare for actual war, it's about more than just cheeky victory songs. Because of sucessful outcomes like this both the Aussie and US Navy will create battle plans to avoid such blind spots and how to take advantage of enemy ships. Drills like this are good for both nations, catchy tune too.
"Nearly Pwns" Undetected, to within what looks like 3KM. ... That destroyer is looking at two MK48s in the water well within any distance to maneuver. That's not "nearly pwns" that's "We've won your little wargame. You're buying the beers!"
At about 40-50 knots, the mk48 torpedoes would take a minimum of 1 minute 20 seconds to reach destination at 3km. An Arleigh Burke class destroyer can reach maximum full ahead flank in less than 90 seconds. In order for the destroyer to have no real chance of evading the torpedo would have to be launched in almost half that distance, or about 1.75km, with the destroyer at zero throttle. That said, excellent exercise and great win for the Aussies, they deserve a beer!
@@bentonthrasher1194 That's simply not true, if US submarines had to get that close to targets the Mark 48 would be utterly useless. Even assuming the DDG was already running at full speed of 35 knots and didn't have to turn, if the Mark 48 was running at its 55 knot upper limit it would catch the DDG within around 5 minutes, assuming the DDG has a 1.6 nautical mile (3 kilometer) headstart (this is just basic mathematics). Of course as soon as the Collins launched its Mark 48s, it would immediately be counterattacked with a VL-ASROC, but I wouldn't fancy the DDG's chances of getting away from a spread of three or four Mark-48 CBASS fired at it. It would then depend on how well its decoys did against the advanced signal processing on the Mark 48 torpedo.
@@YouToobeism Ahh yes. Because the ADF war games always involves the Australian's attacking a location already fortified and monitored with tech. In real life Australia and US are allies.
@Jay Jacobs Us Aussies are tough nuts and boof heads, but you Americans have all the Tech and Advanced Weaponry, so with that said, 1v1... it's pretty even. 👍👍👍
Never underestimate Australian ingenuity. When the troops were retreating from Gallipoli, they needed the Turks to think there were troops still in the trenches. They set up some rifles pointed over the trench. On one level was a can with a pinhole in the bottom. Below it was another can balanced halfway over a ledge, tied to the trigger of a rifle with string. When the second can fills up, it falls off the ledge, pulling the trigger. Right up until the Turk troops were in the enemy trenches, they were convinced there were still Anzacs shooting at them
Thats only half they story mate Ya see The line was endless gunfire so the Aussies were worried that the drip gun wouldn’t work So they stopped firing completely and went dead silent The turks thinking the Australians had left came to investigate at wich point the Australians opened fire on them They repeated this until the Turks stopped checking Then they evacuated
To everyone saying the Americans cheated, according to the rules of the engagement, yes they did. According to war - nothing is cheating and this was a great opportunity for the Aussie's to adapt to a circumstance they weren't expecting. They did awesome and won. Great job.
yup they proved they were better than them in that situation ... half the americans problem is they believe their media hype ... and it is NOT warranted hype.
There’s no such thing as cheating in war. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck! Good on the Aussie pussers for adapting to the situation and turning it in their favour!

BENT on world wide domination.. How does a nation, my nation Australia ever repay the debt?? So I say, all you WONDERFUL American's are always welcome in our bloody country.... Lest we forget.... We are in the commonwealth... we would be fine. It would be a brutal war but we would be fighting defensive... which anzacs excel at historically, while the rest of the commonwealth would help us take them out at sea. If particular groups of people whom currently control the global private banking industry that funds these wars on both sides didnt rule over 'money' and use countries and peoples emotions like a game to centralize global power then it would have never happen.
From one U.S. Navy submariner to my Aussie brothers and sisters: Thanks for the very nice demonstration there are two kind of ships: 1) submarines and b) targets.
We've never forgotten the sacrifices the USN made for AUS at the Battle of the Coral Sea, Midway, Santa Cruz Islands, Philippine Sea and Leyte Gulf... It's good to know after more than 70 years we've still got each others backs.

As a member of the Australian Defence Force - Thank you to all the Americans that respect the outcomes of this exercise, I would gladly fight along side you guys and girls anyday. To all the haters, you need to remember we are a young military, with a much smaller budget than other countries, and only 65,000 odd troops, yet we still roll with the big boys.
The saddest (or proudest, depending on your POV) fact is that Australia routinely has more people prepared to pay to be spectators at a single sporting event than those who get paid to defend the country; go figure.
to correct you its more close 300,000 troops only 65,000 are active soldiers you would think a member of the Australian defense force would know this lol
***** Really, so you think "65,000 are active soldiers"; what are you trying to say here, are you splitting hairs between Permanent and the Active Reserve elements? Even if you add Sailors and Airmen there are less than 100,000 (including Permanents and Active Reserves). In any case the point I was making was about a sporting event, which is a point in time (1-2hrs); so how many of your "300,000" do you think would be actively serving during those events? If you can verify where you got your "300,000" number from then I may stand corrected; I think not, not even "close". By the way, the correct term is Australian Defence Force", show some respect.
8 year old vid and I about cheered out loud when they played victory. Lets not forget, these are my friends, and for them to win this exercise makes me feel even more comfortable in my Oregon Home.
There is much more to that victory song than just "it's an Aussie song". "You better run for cover" is certainly a military warning that they've got the upper hand.
@@MichaelGallagher97 Diesel-electric. Actually allows subs to be pretty stealthy and quiet, one of the downsides though is the lack of range compared to a nuclear submarine.
I'm American and I love stuff like this. Nothing better than good allies learning from each other! The victory song to announce the exercise was complete gave me goosebumps with pride for the Aussies.
Ya that was really interesting. It’s made the us navy rethink everything about anti-submarine warfare. With the help of the Swedish, we now have some of the best anti-sub techniques and counter-measures on the world. This couldn’t have been done without are allies. I thank you all and love you all and I wish for only the best for us all
Yup! These exercises serve as case studies for the USN as well. It's an opportunity to learn how other countries use their assets. I'm not saying the victories aren't genuine, but in some sense it's the most desirable outcome for politicians and top brass. It's important to build confidence for a smaller navy and to eliminate hubris for the USN... of which there is plenty. It's better that the USN loses. This victory creates political capital in favor of military spending, which *could* mean more Aussie subs. Hopefully this victory makes Australians proud of their submariners, as they should be. Subs are the most powerful individual military asset. If Australian submariners become extremely efficient, it bodes well for everyohe. This is a good outcome. Same goes for the Swedes winning. No hard feelings here. Everyone wants to see more subs and naval assets being built.
Aussies and Kiwi's have always done pretty bloody well against the Americans when they've done military exercises over the years. Not that us Kiwi's have submarines or a fighter wing. A big factor has often been the American's over relying on their tech, and us lot tweaking the hell out of the often outdated stuff we have. It's all rather fascinating. Good win for the Aussies here and it sums up pretty much what I'd heard about what tends to happen on air, sea, land.
My Dad was in the South African submarine surface. They had an American destroyer go over them and they turned their engine off. The Americans made them re do with an American on board as they accused them of cheating.
We don't need this BS to 'feel better'. Most Aussies are very happy and secure people that's why we don't have 22% of our population popping antidepressants like candy
Can only imagine the yanks at the end! Americans - “Sir we’re picking up something on sonar, it seems to be the sub!” Australians - “WE COME FROM A LAND DOWN UNDER! YOU BETTER RUN, YOU BETTER TAKE COVER!”

Uh yeah, the USN can "win them all" against any "subs" in the ocean and once the "Iron Curtain" fell and "Glasnost" came around and in the interest of "keeping the peace" it was judged "smart" to let the "Soviets" know just how much we "owned" their asses in every possible way during the "Cold War" and typically had better "course and position" information on their "boats" than THEY DID and we actually got out OUR CHARTS AND LOGS FOR THEIR "BOATS" AND LET THEM COMPARE WHERE WE SAID THEY WERE AND WHEN TO WHERE THEY SAID THEY WERE AND WHEN, their "response" was all those rusting, rotting "Soviet" subs "parked" in their home ports and left there. You don't do "exercise" deployments of strategic and tactical assets like nuclear submarines for "war games" and the rest of the time leave them "parked" and expect to not get "smoked" within sight OF the "docks" you "park" them at 90% of the time unless you're every bit as "clueless" as these clowns who didn't even "take pictures" of a U.S. "destroyer" anyway. USN "Arleigh Burke" destroyers aren't even "anti-submarine" ships to begin with and have never had "torpedoes" OR "depth charges" and that sure as hell isn't one in the "periscope". The second they put the scope up they were "painted" with radar because they did everything possible "wrong" to make sure they were going to get "killed" including being DETECTED by "passive sonar" leading to whatever USN ship using "active sonar" that is "directional" and "frequency agile" and that is NOT a "continuous funky sound" like that but literally is like the "PING!" in the old "submarine movies". Its literally like "radar" but with high energy sound directed down a single line of bearing. What they "heard" wasn't "active sonar" but some kind of "anomaly" only FOOLS would take for "active sonar" hoping that maybe it was "malfunctioning" or something and the "target" was "blind". By "hiding" next to those "cliffs" ever bit of the PLENTY of sound they were "radiating" got reflected in the ONLY DIRECTLY any ENEMY could be which is "out to sea". And they cut off their only "escape route" which when detected is always THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION FROM THE CONTACT. Then going "up periscope" with the "control room" lit up BRIGHT AS DAY which turns the PERISCOPE "OBJECTIVE LENS" INTO A FUCKING "FLASHLIGHT" BECAUSE "LIGHT TRAVELS BOTH DIRECTIONS" was even MORE stupidity. They were also "beam to" the surface contact and weren't in position to "launch fish" which in this day and age are pretty much all wire-guided for "primary" guidance and which in an "emergency" like a "snap-shoot" situation where you "pop up and launch a "spread" of torpedoes" CAN go "wireless and HAVE TO if you shut the "outer doors" but that are also "blind" and "unarmed" within a certain distance of their "mother ship" so they can't somehow get "off course" when they start "actively tracking" and target the sub that launched them or another "friendly". If you "cut the wires" before they have "acquisition" and are "locked on" you're guaranteed to "lose them" because they're "dead" and they simply stop and "scuttle" themselves so the enemy can't recover them and you don't have to worry about "running into" them later. Which would be a bad thing even if dead if you happen to run one through a "screw". "Winners" and "losers" of "war games" are never determined by "self-nomination" on the scene and I guarantee once the "after-action review" occurred and the US ships crews showed up with THEIR "logs" and "charts" and "tracks" of "contacts" they made and these clowns who aren't even smart enough to be at "battle stations" when they're doing everything possible to get "sunk" showed up with THEIR "records", the "final score" was far different. The U.S. in pretty much EVERY "war game" has to so ridiculously "rig" it so the "enemy" played by an "ally" has a "chance" that the U.S. doesn't even "score" its own "performances" in them because it doesn't NEED TO. USN SSBNs and SSNs have two crews each and spend every possible minute of their "service lives" at sea and submerged because that's ALL a submarine is good for and that's the best thing FOR THEM. Meanwhile our "allies" make bullshit "documentaries" like this claiming "victory" against an "enemy force" of multiple "destroyers", a single "helicopter" that may or may not be an "ASW" helicopter but certainly isn't operating from any U.S. destroyer and a "submarine" that probably "tracked" those blowhard, cocky Aussies from their home port and with the crew amazed that any "skipper" would "follow the rules" and sail through a "choke point" given that its completely STUPID in any scenario and the USN has little gadgets called "Sonobuoys" strung in long lines and short lines and that can be "deployed" by helicopter just "dropping them out the window" and they're ALWAYS on and along and across "choke points" and "short cuts" and "patrol routes" the USN knows our "enemies" and "allies" use like "clockwork" because its damned unusual for an ENEMY or ALLY submarine to "leave port" without a U.S. SSN or SSBN "close by" and our subs and submariners are QUIET CONSTANTLY while these idiots are in a situation where they're PLENTY LOUD INSIDE THAT "STEEL TUBE" NEXT TO A "ROCK CLIFF" AND WITH AT LEAST ONE "SURFACE CONTACT" AND SOME KIND OF "ANOMALY" THEY CALL "ACTIVE SONAR" COMING FROM SOMEWHERE "DIRECTED" AT THEM AND JUST "SUCKERING THEM" INTO COMING TO "PERISCOPE DEPTH" WHICH CAUSES "HULL POPPING NOISES" AS THE SUB'S HULL EXPANDS AND THOSE "HULL POPPING TRANSIENTS" BOUNCED OFF THAT CLIFF LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS AND THE USN SUB THAT WAS PROBABLY BETWEEN THEM AND WHAT WAS DEFINITELY NOT A "U.S. DESTROYER" AND WAS BOW ON TO THEM WAITING TO PULVERIZE IT AGAINST THAT CLIFF PROBABLY COULDN'T BELIEVE AN "ALLY" COULD BE SO STUPID. OR IT WAS IN THE AUSSIE SUB'S "BAFFLES" - ITS WAKE WHERE EVEN WITH A "TOWED SONAR ARRAY" IT WOULD BE "BLIND" ND "DEAF" - READY TO PUT A "FISH" RIGHT UP ITS ASS AND WITHOUT ITS CREW EVER EVEN KNOWING WHAT HIT THEM OR WHERE IT CAME FROM SINCE NO DOUBT THEY WERE SO FOCUSED ON THOSE "HULL SHOTS" (IN THE USN A SUB GETS SUBMERGED "HULL SHOTS" THROUGH THE PERISCOPE FROM METERS RATHER THAN MILES AWAY). And that's so obviously not a "U.S. destroyer" regardless of what those idgits say and was probably "one of theirs" out there trying to help those idiots "cheat" and was probably as "lost" and "confused" as the "submariners" were. That ridiculously tall "antenna mast/superstructure" that just SCREAMS "shoot at me" is found on "Commonwealth" destroyers but not U.S. Aegis guided-missile "tin cans" that haven't ever been used for "ASW" ever and if that WERE an Aegis 'can it could have sent about 1 megawatt of RF energy down a single line of bearing and "fried" every thing in that control room just "sweeping" the periscope but since its not for "tracking surface contacts" and could outrun any torpedo put in the water from those several thousand meters away as soon as hearing a "launch transient". And the biggest dead giveaway that this is "amateur hour" and "insecurity complex" all the way is the fact that supposed "winners" make a "documentary" of their own "tactics" and publish it as "proof" of their "win" and basically publish a page out of their "playbook" which only IDIOTS desperate to "spin" getting their asses cleaned or not even being at the right place and time to "play" and desperate to "impress" their "government" would make period much less "publish".
@@Weatherman1024 What many people don't realise about Australians is that we are basically a culture of pisstakers, we insult and make fun of our friends. No hard feelings, just jokes and jabs
Well fucking played. Love the fact that they announce their presence with that song. That had the be a hard pill to swallow for that US destroyer. Curious to what that sub costs compared to the costs of some of our subs. I bet it’s a fraction. Yet they could have potentially destroyed 2-5 ships. Good fucking shit, Australia! 🇺🇸
Diesel electric boats are certainly no where near as capable as SSN's, the SONAR arrays are a joke compared to 688i's and Virginias but there is nothing in the ocean that makes a nuclear sub skipper pucker up as much as the potential of a diesel boat running on its batteries. Even these second rate, outdated boats are formidable weapons.
@@lachyt5247 There is nothing "second rate" about modern diesel subs, they're meant for a different mission set. Nuclear are louder, deep water subs meant for long range and months long sea patrols, diesel subs are shorter range shallow water subs that are much more silent (AKA incredible at coastal defense). Trying to compare the two is stupid as they have different roles.
As an ex-serving member (3RAR-RAINF), it's always amazing to see our fellow Australian soldiers doing well in any field. Respect to the American powerhouse too for their invitations to join them in their fun wargames. They have many wargames which multiple countries join to play and these other countries also have their own games they run. Our games are somewhat similar to the olympic games but military style playing for trophies and bragging rights.
i would like to see the aus and cdn navy subs go for a round ... that would be interesting ... ok and of course the rcr against the aus equivalent ;) ... yeah my old unit
The Collins had some initial problems with noise but they fixed them and when they run very slow at 2-3 knots, they are virtually undetectable. If your aim is to take out a billion dollar asset in an aircraft carrier and its air wing, then you don't need to be quick; slink in do the job and if you get sacrificed, well its a Collins diesel sub versus a very expensive and very strategic piece of equipment in a carrier and its force projection capability.
I’d love to have seen this from a camera crew on board the US ship too. Image the look and reaction from the captain when he’s handed the headset to hear that song playing 🤣
Well, I may be a yank, but I say, well done, Aussies! These exercises, are immensely valuable, to the hunted, and to the hunter. Always lessons to be learned. I have no doubt a lot of rethink, new training, came out of this one, especially for the US Navy, in this case.
if you can beat us then so be it, better in an exercise than in real life. this way we can learn from our mistakes and become better, which we always do. Good job Aussie Navy
Interesting comments from a lot of people, US and Aussie. I am an Aussie. I am very proud of my country and its military personnel. As to the Collins Sub...it has copped a lot of flak and, yes, it did have lots of electrical problems and software glitches BUT after many years of service they still hold up well. The only reason they are not all deployed at once is that the Navy tries to save money on maintenance and crewing. The Collins was designed as a stealthy green water (close to coast) sub. It employs a number of technologies to make its propulsion system virtually-silent. I am not surprised they were able to sneak up on the US destroyer using excellent tactics and the ship's design merits. One thing our military do very well is training. The US ships have nothing to be ashamed of...it was a difficult situation and the underwater terrain helped the Aussies considerably. These exercises are designed to find tactical flaws in each military's systems and then correct them Both the Australian and US navy would have learned a great deal from this exercise. In a possible future war it also means that both nations would be able to field military forces that can work hand in glove with each other. Australia has fought beside the US in every major military conflict since WW1. We have even come when the US has asked us to help in wars other supposed allies refused to assist in. Vietnam is one clear example of that. Some people look at the relationship that Australia has with China and wonder what would happen if the Taiwan situation or the disputed South China Sea zone blew up into armed conflict. Rest assured, Australia would be shoulder to shoulder with the US. Both nations have spilled the blood of our young men and women to assist each other. Such bonds are not easily broken. Cousins across the sea; brothers in arms.
@Erich Von Manstein You might want to take a look in the mirror to see who's ignorant. Because during that little conflict, who was attacked by Japan first, the US or Australia? Although the Japanese did carry out bombing runs on the Australian mainland, none of their territory was occupied by the Japanese, while that did happen with US territories. So how would the US be coming to the aid of Australia if the US was attacked before the Australians, and it was only US territories, not Australian territory which was occupied by the Japanese?
the torpedo should play the music so it just gets lounder and lounder the closer it gets. 'The suspense will bring greater fear, as the tune grows near'
King Kong tbh beating one of my friends at something and then playing a humorous song before they even know they’ve lost sounds like something I would do, and that’s why it’s so brilliant
There is one abiding reason why a diesel sub is quieter that a nuclear sub. The diesel sub can turnoff everything and use batteries, whereas a nuclear sub has to keep its pumps going or the core will explode. In the recent selection of supplier and builder for 12 more subs for Australia, the Germans won the honours. Someone at the final meeting said, "Well it stands to reason. We did pretty well with the U Boats. We built 1200 of them so 12 for you would be easy." There was an uncomfortable silence, then everyone burst out laughing.
There has to be some irony in that a submarine using ballsy tactics shoots a destroyer named after one of WW2's greatest submariners. A man who defined the word "Ballsy" with his exploits in the Pacific
A batch of some 50 or 60 Australian prisoners were marched off close behind us-immensely big and powerful men, who without question represented an elite formation of the British Empire, a fact that was also evident in battle. -Lieutenant General Erwin Rommel, Commander, German Afrika Korps, Battle of Tobruk, 1941.
Well for a start, without the 'nearly' in the title I'd be giving the ending, wouldn't I? Also, as a US poster pointed out below, the odds were stacked a little bit in favour of Rankin for the purposes of the exercise. Still, shows that the Australian made Collins Class subs aren't quite the useless garbage the media seems to think they are.
diesel is perfect for coastal defence and attack ... while a nuclear sub is perfect for deep ocean and long patrols ... a nuclear sub on shore patrol is crap it is easily spotted and destroyed from lack of a=room to manoeuvre while a diesel is cooler running and easier to hide in the shore line ... and has a bit more manoeuvrability than the nuclear sub ... in shallow water
So glad they have always been on our side... Even stoned drunk, they can fight like a wounded bear. Hey, they gave us the rock band AC/DC. Bless those bastards, one and all !!
The fact is that a Diesel Electric sub may be less capable in terms of duration than a steam powered American kettle sub but when run properly on batteries they are extremely difficult to detect.
Keep in mind these are diesel subs. Diesel subs are ideal for defending green water territory but they're useless for blue water operations. In essence, diesel subs are for defence and SSN's are for offence (hence the TLAM capability on US/UK SSN's). What matters is that NATO and it's allies get the balance right and this is where Australia is making the right choice in purchasing more diesel subs. The only possible big war will involve China and the Indian Ocean/South china Sea.
Keep in mind these are Collins-Class boats, which are _designed_ for blue-water longevity. These are trans-oceanic boats, but they exchange the total longevity of an SSN for far superior concealment. It should also be noted that the Collins-Class are TLAM capable, and indeed are fitted with a number of TLAMs in addition to their regular Mk48 armament. Basically, the Collins-Class are the largest, baddest, quietest diesel-electric boats in the world. They have the longevity to conduct deep-penetration missions as well as patrol contested seaways. They will seek & destroy any SSN or SSK they are tasked with hunting without the target ever realizing they were there. I'm not talking up the capabilities of a Collins. This is what they were designed to do. It took us twenty years to accomplish this, but we're there now. The Collins-Class has undergone is life-of-type extension program, and they will serve well into the 2030s, by which time their electronic suite will be obsolete. But the hulls themselves are perfect for Australian needs.

... That destroyer is looking at two MK48s in the water well within any distance to maneuver.
That's not "nearly pwns" that's "We've won your little wargame. You're buying the beers!"
If he had said owned it would have reduced the tension.
In real life, the aussie sub would have been tracked from well-off Hawaii by more than one SOSUS station. But gd'onya. Glad you're with us.

The line was endless gunfire so the Aussies were worried that the drip gun wouldn’t work
So they stopped firing completely and went dead silent
The turks thinking the Australians had left came to investigate at wich point the Australians opened fire on them
They repeated this until the Turks stopped checking
Then they evacuated
The also built para-scope for there guns using shaving mirrors so they could fire from safety

So the two cargos ships isnt a systemic problem? Amateur hour seems to continue.

I love how the Skipper refers to the cook by his nickname.
Bravo Aussies, it's good to get humbled from time to time in peace to learn for war. Thank you.
Well done folks. That was very well played. And the victory song was priceless. Again congratulations on your win.
This never gets old, thanks for uploading this again. Also, glad they’re on our side, or apparently, glad we’re on theirs
Well done to our Aussie friends down under! 🇺🇸 🇦🇺
Nearly? During an exercise back in the eighties an Aussie oberon launched flames to simulate torpedos and put a US carrier out of the exercise.
Shit, really? What exercise was that? I want to read what I can about it. That sounds fascinating.
That was the sea component of Kangaroo 81. I was a grunt humping my way all over Shoalwater bay and they told us about it.
@@beaney56 HMAS Ovens in 1976 as part of O.P. Kangaroo 1 successfully "attacked" the carrier USS Enterprise
afterwards they attached a broom to their periscope, claiming a 'clean sweep'

I love the friendly competitiveness we (the US) shares with our great allies. Good show Straya! I'm glad you're on our side
Pwns? What is this, 2011?
...oh.
Two thumbs up to our friends down under...!!! Glad ya'll are on our side.
It just goes to show, good seamanship always beats fancier ships. Great job!
You've said that both nations have spilled blood for one another. Could you please tell me what blood the Americans have spilled for the Australians?
@Erich Von Manstein You might want to take a look in the mirror to see who's ignorant. Because during that little conflict, who was attacked by Japan first, the US or Australia? Although the Japanese did carry out bombing runs on the Australian mainland, none of their territory was occupied by the Japanese, while that did happen with US territories. So how would the US be coming to the aid of Australia if the US was attacked before the Australians, and it was only US territories, not Australian territory which was occupied by the Japanese?
I agree.....although most of Australia's soldiers were in Europe fighting the Germans at the time.
@Erich Von Manstein
I'm Australian
@Erich Von Manstein
Because its true...the bulk of Australia's forces were in Europe at the time...so we needed help.
I wish there was a video that showed the Americans reaction.
Would be funny to see their reaction
As an American, me too mate.
the torpedo should play the music so it just gets lounder and lounder the closer it gets.
'The suspense will bring greater fear, as the tune grows near'
While I’m not happy that our navy lost you got to admit the Australians are worthy enemies and great Allies Congratulations
This actually happens more often than you realise, ex Aus Navy here.
This is what good friends do, learn from each others. That is why we train.
Thank you Aussies for helping us learn our weaknesses, your welcome to drill with us anytime 😊
This just shows the threat modern diesel electric sub's can pose.
diesel is perfect for coastal defence and attack ... while a nuclear sub is perfect for deep ocean and long patrols ... a nuclear sub on shore patrol is crap it is easily spotted and destroyed from lack of a=room to manoeuvre while a diesel is cooler running and easier to hide in the shore line ... and has a bit more manoeuvrability than the nuclear sub ... in shallow water
There was a Swedish Diesel submarine that actually beat the us navy in a training exercise
@@0623kaboom Yeah. Electric is completely silent, but with nukes, you're still running a bunch of pumps moving fluids about.
I believe you are correct. Subs are an extremely formidable weapon.
Especially when captained by a competent skipper.
So glad they have always been on our side... Even stoned drunk, they can fight like a wounded bear. Hey, they gave us the rock band AC/DC. Bless those bastards, one and all !!
You mention AC/DC but not men at work.
The fact is that a Diesel Electric sub may be less capable in terms of duration than a steam powered American kettle sub but when run properly on batteries they are extremely difficult to detect.
Great choice on the victory song! Well played Matildas ;)
Well said in a room full of idiots.
Diesel electric are quieter than nuke powered so guess what? You are wrong
Our subs are purpose designed for blue water ops which is why we dont buy straight off the rack.
