No-one could ever replace the delivery Hugo Weaving brings to this character. That cold, conniving and calculative behavior is something many can have but nothing as unique as his.
He wanted to come back and they didn’t wait for him. How can a director be so misguided. I mean they made him more relevant in the trilogy because Hugo was so good . They didn’t write smith to be there way Hugo made him. You don’t simply replace that actor. Just like you don’t replace Lawrence . They had so much weight to their delivery . Like they newer smith yells mr . Anderson . Hugo would have said it with restraint and a chilling delivery . He doesn’t need it tell much because he communicates all his frustration in a multifaceted way . He just delivers lines so well. How could anyone take that opportunity to have him back and throw it out the window
The thing I love about this fight, is that so often in Martial Arts movies when your fighting multiple guys, is that they all "take turns" so your really fighting one on one. But in this it looks like a true mob attack. Neo is hit from multiple sides, often grappled by one while another is punching him, etc. Its really creative and very rarely replicated even today.
i love this movie but the "taking turns" thing you talked about is in full effect here lol. Still great though. Can't imagine how much work, time and effort went into crafting just this sequence of the movie.
@@Pingaheimer I think they simply mean they don't do the attacking one at a time thing. Only so many people you can have at once before the choreography melts into a dog pile 😂
My favorite part of this subversion is that instead of a bunch of guys fighting one on one, it's one guy fighting the hero a bunch of times at once lol.
no one ever talks about how Hugo Weaving is so fucking good in these movies - cant imagine how hard it would be to play that kind of role so seriously and make it work as well as he did
When you compare this to super hero movies of the same time, and even some more recently, there still is no comparison. I was stationed in Ankara, Turkey when this Revolutions came out, the audience went crazy over these scenes. I watched both several times in the theater. Obviously watching them today lol.
The effects on this part of the fight were/are very good. It's when they move to the completely digital figures where it breaks down. That applied even when the movie first released.
false, there were a few stunts, you can slow the video so you can see some of the faces are different, specially those who Keanu had to interact with, 3:21, even Neo is a stunt at 3:57
@@jennaschwinna2347 a poor joke, Hugo did play a lot of his copies and then was superimpossed into the scene multiple times, it is a great scene, but the joke wasnt ;)
One thing about this fight, the background Smithies don't just stand idle, they actually attack unlike other action movies the background people just stand around waiting for their turn... love it
HERE IS THE MILLION-DOLLAR QUESTION: Will you go to Heaven when you die? Here's a quick test: Have you ever lied, stolen, or used God's name in vain? Jesus said, ”Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” if you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart and the Bible warns that one day God will punish you in a terrible place called H***. But God is not willing that any should perish. Sinners broke God's law and Jesus paid their fine. This means that God can legally dismiss their case: ”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Then Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death. Today, repent and trust Jesus, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift. Then read the Bible daily and obey it. God will never fail you!
What's interesting is that during this scene there's other gangs of "Smith Viruses" all over the Matrix world causing chaos, assimilating blue pills, and slowly snowballing out of control. Like in this clip regular Agents of the system are going to notice this and will have no choice but to take over blue pill bodies to try and stop him, getting assimilated themselves in the process. I'd love to see the unseen massive global battle that took place between Smith and the Machines with blue pill military support over the course of the 2 sequel films, watching as the Machines/blue pill armies slowly start to lose control to Smith and not knowing what to do... until Neo breaks into 01 with a deal.
Yeah , Neo is the virus to him and Smith is the virus to Neo. They’re both different sides of the same coin that need each other’s existence. That’s the purpose that drives them into each other.
Something I love about this fight is that it's not one of those typical one vs many fights where the bad guys attack one at a time. They're ALL attack whenever they have a clear shot. Which just makes Neo's skill all the more impressive. He's not just reacting to one at a time, he's reacting to all of them at once.
Completly agree. As you said it is a common problem in fight-scenes for bad guys just stand there and wait for their turn, here they dont. Telegraphed moves ofc but still thats why this scene is so good, just unfortunate with the dated cgi.
I love the way Smith sometimes rhymes or almost-rhymes his words, it gives this speech a lyrical quality. "I was compelled to stay, compelled to disobey…" "That guides us, that drives us. It is purpose that defines. Purpose that binds us."
I feel like this trait was Smith kinda experimenting with different wording to try and define himself as different. He clearly sees a difference between himself and other agents (I believe he was intentionally made this way) and it seems he has privately turned to poetry to keep himself sane. He uses self harm as a similar coping mechanism (well, not similar, but the same logic) when he possesses Bane and is overwhelmed and disgusted by his new sensations
regardness of all the malice they have for eachother and desire to delete the other, manners make’eth man, manners cost nothing, momma always told me to be polite 😂
The dialogue, intonations, facial expressions, and music for this scene really sync so well. Two points in particular I like are how Neo delivers "congratulations" to Agent Smith and when Agent Smith says "but" as the music hits a crescendo and then shifts to a more deliberate note as Smith steps forward calmly, purposefully.
@@pokeme1052 What majority of people don't realise is that the cartoonish CGI is made on purpose, to let you remember that all this is happening in the Matrix, the entire trilogy have probably one of the best CGI ever made, just look at the car chase, there will be no reason to make it so cartoonish if not on purpose, same goes with the new trailer of Matrix Resurrections, when opening sequence shows the city, it's purposefully made to look "fake" because Matrix is not real.
I love Smith's character development. He was an emotionless machine from the first and here he's start to talk like a real person with a little sarcasm to him
Arismafia Mafiaiskandar Only he wasn’t emotionless in the first one... Unlike the rest of the agents that were just doing what they were programmed for, he truly and deeply hated humans, especially Neo. The scene where he keeps torturing Morpheus and the way he takes off his head piece, signifying that he wasn’t taking orders any more, is proof of this. He even makes a speech about why he hates them. It’s what really sets him apart from other agents. It’s why he didn’t die when Neo tried to destroy him. Any other agent would have been erased permanently, but smith was an anomaly among agents. Because of this he went on to become a virus in the matrix itself after Neo attempted to end him.
He certainly was not emotionless. He had a strong hatred of humans from the beginning. The only thing that changed was his freedom and abilities; his character traits are actually relatively stagnant. Still a great villain.
@@VeritaForYou Not about acting - almost anyone can act. It's about oration - conscious articulation and pacing, not just _pretending_ and _saying_ the lines but actually _expressing_ and _speaking_ them. The best actors have these (and other) skills, but most actors don't.
And Neo knows that Smith is NOT "a person". It is some kind of... algorithmic plague. He wasn't surprised to see one version of the program... but 120+? Very surprising so soon. #Mutations
@@Novastar.SaberCombat Smith *is* him. Agents "absorb" some of the code of the things they kill, because their job is to track down anomalies - so they're hoping to absorb stuff like knowledge on resistance hideouts. Neo is just SUCH an anomaly that the code Smith absorbed gave him, for lack of a better work, humanity. That's the connection, and you can see it visually. In the Matrix, everything fake is tinted green, while humans are naturally coloured - Neo's suit, for example, is actually black once he embraces his role as The One, as with Trinity and Morpehus' outfits once they become stronger in later movies. Smith stops being green-tinted once he absorbs Neo. Because Smith has become human.
There’s actually an underlying discussion of free-will vs causality. Smith is indicating he is aware of his (and Neo’s) compulsion to follow seemingly preordained events. This is mostly true because similar events occurred in previous versions of the matrix. Smith and the Merovingian believe in causality and Neo believes in free will. This isn’t a bad line, it’s a simple way of conveying that concept.
I enjoyed Resurrections, but I felt that one of the biggest flaws was recasting Smith. They handled the replacement of Morpheus well (justified him being different), but Smith didn't act anything like Smith. It's not just a matter of not copying the exact mannerisms (like the other actor did in Revolutions), but everything about the attitude and characterization was just so different that it never read as the same character. My first preference would have been to keep Hugo Weaving (de-age him if you must, they can do that very effectively these days), or at least have the new actor try to sell him being the same character.
@@guspaz it sort of makes sense that smith didn't initially act anything like Hugo Weaving bc if the analyst put Neo close to old school smith he would have figured everything out right away (that said idk why they made smith his partner)
I really liked Resurrections, but I have to agree.Jonathan Groff did a good job, but it wasn't as intense and hateful as Hugo Weaving, he lacks that... air about him, that he is two seconds away from bursting of pure rage and killing everything around him.
Matrix: "Agent Smith is such an awesome villain. It's a shame he's gone." Matrix Reloaded: (CTRL C, CTRL V x10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000)
It's a semi-cheesy homage to the trope of grand villain entrances, but it works for these films and Smith in particular because they embrace a small amount of cheese. Newer action movies are so fucking dry and dour 100% of the time, but that wasn't always the case. James Cameron poured a lot of cheese into his action flicks and that's why they're so good.
I love Smith's little smirk at 1:44, like he's proud of obtaining the "freedom" he so desperately wanted. Hugo Weaving nailed every single small detail in the facial expressions for this scene.
@@captainseyepatch3879 Makes sense, nothing can ruin his moment since he has attained something no agent ever has. And the fact that a human acknowledged his sentience only further vindicated him.
Wow look at that: actual choreography showing a cohesive and coherent fight scene instead of using jump cuts every half second with loud noises and flashes that are impossible to comprehend.
@@samtrotter7177 Yeah, true. Even though I like the first half of this fight scene, Neo looks like he's merely slapping them which makes the agents go flying. His fists don't even look clenched most of the time which detracts from the scene. I still like it though.
@@samtrotter7177 I feel like the subway fight in the original had real weight to it. The sequels just felt like sparring. Can't really blame them when you see the CGI in the second half of this scene. They had to use real dudes as much as possible and nobody wants to be the one to bruise Keanu's money maker haha.
i dunno why this film didnt get better reviews. this whole fight scene was super impressive. Look how many takes Hugo Weaving had to do for each second. Look at how there's long takes on Keanu Reeves' moves, and no shakey cam. It's mindblowingly hard work.
@ that and alot of actors don't do their own stunts, when an actor does their own stunts , then the fights can be better and the viewer is more immersed
The Hong Kong action cinematography style only works if the actor knows how to movie fight and look good. If they suck then you get Taken style and Bourne style editing. I don’t even think those actors in those movies were that bad but it more forgiving then this style.
People who are saying the CGI is bad, don't really understand just how impressive this was for 2003. There's so much more happening than meets the eye.
I love how they don't really attack one at a time, noone is standing around waiting for their turn like is usually the case in fight scenes with multiple opponents
which is great and fits perfectly since it's just copies of the same person so they don't have to worry about "friendly fire" and they're just clones so they're easily expendable. you can tell they wanted to highlight the more realistic side of "getting jumped" by the scene at 2:07 of the overhead shot of 4 Smiths attacking at once leading Neo to the other 2 that grabbed him
4:35 I love the subtle details between the agent and Smith. The green tint is gone, obviously the earpiece, and the corners of his sunglasses now have more edges (almost octagon instead of the square shape). Literally having more sides to him added in the program. Breaking the status quo.
The movie is occult symbolism like most of Hollywood's shite, it's not meant to be logical. Smith represents Jesus which is why he starts converting people on mass after his crucifixion. You'll notice that when Smith/Jesus is killed by Neo, neo forms his body into a spear and Smith adopts a cruciform pose as he's killed.
1:10 - 1:43 gives me shivers every time.... his emphasis on certain words, voice tone, pauses, his facial expressions... everything simply outstanding! agent smith was the first villian i saw in movies that i was really scared of. he nailed it so hard to make it look/sound like a machine which is trying to show/mimic human emotion. my personal best villian of all time!
I feel like this scene in particular really shows smiths hatred for neo , smith got what he wanted in the first film, to be free of the matrix but not on his terms , Smith came back for the sole purpose of revenge against the one person who took his "purpose" from him...I'd like to compare it to an undefeated boxer about to retire and loses a fight...now he just wants to get back at the person who beat him ..retiring is off the table now .
What did he mean by "I knew the rules" when he was killed, did that kill his avatar/body? Or did he realize that he was still alive (his software) and that he should not be and had to be deleted?
@@Cerberusx32 yeah he was meant to be gone but I think neo bugged him out instead.. so he's now like stuck in limbo.. he became a virus like file and starts copying himself onto whatever he can
Back when this was released it received undeserved criticism, now it looks like a masterpiece. Effects may be outdated but the choreography is master class.
The effects don't seem outdated at all. Even Star Wars (1977) looks better than tons of overdone, over-saturated, overused CGI festivals. Legitimate filmmaking knows when the acting, dialogue, and close-ups do the heavy lifting. Also, Reeves obviously worked BEYOND hard on being precise with the actions the choreographer (Yuen Wo-Ping) required. Trust me, I understand... I choreographed and performed LIVE fight work for two decades. 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨
@@tarikay93 There are still pretty great overall. The ambition of having hundreds of smiths fight Neo would be a big task today. In the early 2000's it was crazy. The practical stuff with the lookalikes and blurring works better than the cg of course but they wanted to push the fight even further which required CG. It didn't even look fantastic at the time but it's still a very impressive set piece. This is one of the best action sci fi movies ever made. The first matrix is still a better overall movie but the action in this movie is among the best ever made.
@@Novastar.SaberCombat funny, because I think modern movies look grey and UNDERsaturated. All the color that was present in the 80-s and 90-s movies is gone from most modern ones. Can we agree Agent Smith's entrance with the crows is the most bad ass villain entrance. I mean you see Thanos come through and you're like "Oh shit" or Darth Vader enters and you get chills. But this here, you see Agent Smith and you're like "there I saw. Death has arrived".
Yes, I completely agree HiprVylan 505. I see it to. The filming here is amazing and brings a chill down the spine. Smith walking toward the camera as the crows caw and fly into the camera. It feels like a pivotal moment for an incredible character. Just brilliant
1:38 I like how his speech is not consistent, before he was connected to the matrix so he had perfect speech. But now, his programming is re learning how to speak properly.
I love how professional they are towards each other. In a way very refreshing. It's abundantly clear subliminally that they each despise each other and wants to see the other destroyed. However, they both maintain dignity and show one another dare I say "respect". As opposed to better enemies and some other films that are practically cursing each other out.
The first part of this action sequence is fucking incredible and deserves the millions of views. From the acting, dialogue, musical score and choreography. The whole Matrix trilogy is master class. Audiences weren't ready for this when it was first released.
Dude, these fights between Keanu Reeves and Hugo Weaving are probably some of the best in cinematic history. Not to take anything away from Keanu Reeves, but Hugo Weaving’s delivery of dialogue as Agent Smith is chilling. Such an iconic villain. Love all 3 movies.
00:51 - I like how Agent Smith says that he “killed” Neo and than he says that he himself was “destroyed” because he knows he is a computer program and not alive. It’s the small details that makes these Matrix movies so great.
Kind of like when you corrupt a file and have to delete it. That's what Neo did to him in 1 But Smith found his way out of the recycle bin and discovered CTRL C 😄
Hes aware hes not human but hes definitely alive in the sense that he has free will to do as he pleases after neo alters his code. In the first movie he shows that he isn't like the other agent programs. Dropping the mask when he is alone with Morpheus. Not only is smith aware of the matrix, he has is own opinion of it, calling it a Zoo, As well as describing the SMELL. Showing human emotions such as disgust and hatred for the human race, along with the machines who put him there. Funny enough, you could say he is the least crazy in the whole series. Makes you wonder.. at what point is AI, alive. Ps. i love hugo's acting @ 1:37, a little glimmer of smith being humorous when he calls himself a new man. Breaking from his speech pattern for only a moment.
One thing I love about Neo in this scene: When the fighting begins he’s unready and panicking, but after a while he gains his concentration back so can kick the living shit out of Smith
he was overwhelmed by Smith's new power and didn't want to get caught again. Notice how Smith kept putting open hands on him because he was trying to hold him down to "possess" him. Once Neo got compose, Smith started straight up striking closed fist and going for full body grabs instead of holding his limbs down
It's a bit less complicated than theory that other youtubers are trying to say. I'll try to explain it as i can. Sorry for my shitty english. So, get ready.. here we go.. Only 4 person in this world knows about matrix versions - Architect, Oracle, Smith, Merov. Architector and Oracle are not connected to the mainfraim of matrix which is why they know it's a 6th version of Zion (yes, Zion is the Matrix as well) and 6th version of Neo and Smith. So everytime Matrix reloads, they know each one matrix version from start to end. The whole plot of Matrix happened because Architector couldn't find the best way to fix a problem of choice in order to stabilize Matrix, so in order to shake things a bit, Oracle created anomaly. Architect will figure this out only at the end of third film. "You are playing dangerous game" (c) Architector In theirs 6th meeting Architector specifically said to Neo (in a programm language btw), that he (NEO) is the result (created because of) of anomaly, which he can't comprehend entirely and can't deal with (with anomaly). This anomaly is the programm - Smith. He was created by Oracle in order to force Architect hand, so he would create the ONE(essentially.. antivirus with admin access). He didn't specify the anomaly, because he don't know what it is. The anomaly is not connected to mainfraim (Architector can't see it), which mean - machines can't do shit about it. He is invincible and invisible to them, they can't delete him, they can't do anything to him. Unkillable virus. Neo was manipulated by Oracle in order to encounter Smith, while Smith was supposed to encounter the ONE in order to be rewrited by him to get admin access to the matrix without connecting to the mainframe. This created a threat to matrix, because Smith can now destroy it. Architect created Neo with such admin access (power of the ONE we see in the movie) in order for him to eventually fix the anomaly. But he never knew that Oracle manipulated them both and she is the one responsible for love interest of Neo. Her plan was to create the best situation, in which machines will have to get help from Human, in order to get their hands on anomaly and kill it - saving matrix. And by that machines and humans will be forced to achieve peace. That's what you see in the end. A human made a deal with a machines, to sacraficed himself so machines could destroy anomaly, save matrix and free everyone by ending war. The prophecy was never real, it was created to manipulate and confuse everyone (including viewers). Oracle knew that Neo have admin acces, because he was created by Architect to fix anomaly that she created. So she manipulated him in a way, that would allow to Smith get this blessing power of complete access to matrix after theirs final encounter. And that's why Smith could destroy the matrix. She manipulated everyone starting with Architector himself. To achieve peace. It's really that easy.
@@MrZlocktar It makes sense, but i don't understand something. Smith is the anomaly, the virus, and Neo is cure. But Smith when he turns Neo into a Smith clone,he corrupted the cure and due to the fact that he couldn't handle it,he explode and killing himself My lack of understanding is this: When neo first cures smith is in the end of the first one Why did Smith survive and still was corrupted or was the anomaly,if he was cured in a way by neo in the first one?
@@Chanunaitor01 In the first film Smith was disconnected from mainfraime but has no administration access to matrix to copy or overwrite anything. The last encounter with Neo is what gave him this access. In the ending, When Smith overwrites Neo into another Smith, he connects himself back to matrix mainframe (because Neo entered matrix from it's mainframe), so system can now find him and delete for good. And that's exactly what Neo and machines were agree on to achieve peace. That's what happened when entire matrix of Smiths reloads in the ending scene.
I like the little change in Smith's expression when he says "But I didn't..." because it looks like an expression of *surprise* at himself, for having decided to defy the system after serving his Machine controllers for so many years. It's made even better when the look on his face then changes again to what looks like a dawning, determined realisation for "I couldn't, I was compelled to stay" like he's suddenly registering what he did now that he's said it out loud and is realising that defying the system and becoming an Exile is his true purpose. It's the tiny little details you pick up in rewatches like this that make the Matrix movies doubly as brilliant. Hugo Weaving's portrayal of Smith is downright awesome - his facial expressions are still conveyed so well even when because of his shades you can't really see his eyes.
You see it less in scenes where multiple attackers are all "different" people. A real attacker in a group isn't going to want to get friendly fired by his buddies. The one at a time thing is actually realistic human behavior, in a way. I immediately noticed that these Mr Smiths fought differently. Of course they're not going to care about getting hit by another Mr. Smith. Genius detail.
In the theatre, the closer Smith got to Neo, the more the audience got exicted lol. At this part 1:49 I actually heard some guy in the audience whisper "awww shit here we go" all amped up lol.
Keanu loves training for these scenes for months. He does everything with passion and dedication to his craft. How lucky are we to be part of these scenes. Kudos to Keanu and all the fabulous actors on Matrix reloaded.
Life is ? This story had plenty of uniqueness, this mix of combining programming with existentialism was still quite new. There was good acting like Hugo’s, and there was good action. And people’s precious practical effects often look goofy and ridiculous too, particularly with living beings. But as for your rant about America, most of the practical effect movies are from there too.
When I was a kid I was convinced that this scene was awesome, but part of me felt sad when I discover that much fans hated it. Now with the actions scenes from resurrections we both can assure that this is a masterpiece :D
People like to find all sorts of ways to hate on things for no reason. All the while they sit in their basements eating chips and not producing something even 100th as good as this

Then they need to clone your white blood cells and send them to taiwan. I was restricted to fly into the Philippines to meet my fiance. The Chinese need to stop eating rats. WTH!
The tragedy of Smith, in a way, is that he had no more purpose. Neo's purpose was to be the chosen one. Judging by what the Oracle also said, that Smith is Neo's opposite it means that Smith held Neo's lack of purpose and empty existence since a part of Neo imprinted onto Smith. What imprinted onto Smith was all that Neo rejected when he chose the red pill. Smith's existence after being destroyed by Neo in the first film was due to Neo's aspects imprinting onto Smith but also due to the System's need for balance. Neo's powers unbalanced the System (as part of the Oracle's role) and the Smiths strived to balance it. Neo couldn't be stopped until Smith overcame every person from the Matrix, which shows how powerful Neo truly was. That is also why Smith is that aspect of the System that wants to balance itself out (every equation needs to be balanced as the Architect said). This is also typical at the outset of schizophrenia where the more the ego thinks itself as god-like, the more "little demons" appear from the unconscious so to balance the ego's position.
Smith did have a purpose. The tragic part is he didn't and couldn't know what that purpose was. Smith was never in control of what he could do. His purpose was to fuse with neo in revolutions and bring peace. Neo chose the path for both of them, but Smith never got a chance to choose. That's why in revolutions when Smith finally realizes everything at the end, he says oh no no no its not fair, it's not fair. Neo gets a choice but Smith doesn't.
I interpreted the questionable CGI as the Matrix not being able to properly process the amount of commotion going on. The fabric of space and time was literally beginning to degrade because of how many virus Agent Smiths there were in this one small location, like a steadily increasing amount of glitches that are pooling in one chunk of the generated terrain.
It's funny how the CGI on quite a few 2000's movies somehow dwarfs most of the CGI used in current movies. It's like, they had less resources, but knew how to use them.
The best thing about this fight scene is that every Agent Smith was willing to hit Neo while he was fight every Agent Smith. No one was waiting when the others are done hitting him. They see an opportunity to attack , they take it.
Agreed. This fight felts relentless! The music helps too, but the fact the Smiths just *don't let up* really sells the tension of the situation. I feel that, in this movie, the moments where Neo faced the Smiths were the ones he was seriously in danger for his life. In all the other fights, he could almost toy with his opponents, be them Agents or the Merovingian's henchmen. Not here. Here, he had to REALLY go all out.

The 1st film was. The sequels less so...
Smith in the Matrix: "Humanity is a virus"
Smith in the Matrix 2: is the virus
Psychological projection. Even sentient computer programs have it apparently.
Well that’s the point smith is AI he thinks he’s doing the right thing but he’s broke out his programming so there’s basically no stopping him
Neo in all films: Would have been a lot easier if he studied ancient Greek philosophy.
All three films are a story about Plato's cave basically.
I could actually see one of them coming for a punch but then just waiting to get punch himself. It is still as good as it gets for the date, though.
Completly agree. As you said it is a common problem in fight-scenes for bad guys just stand there and wait for their turn, here they dont. Telegraphed moves ofc but still thats why this scene is so good, just unfortunate with the dated cgi.

He becomes increasingly more unstable with each film
@@SteveRogers0768 also the other agents came in and was like, "what are you doing".

And your point is ?
There’s actually an underlying discussion of free-will vs causality. Smith is indicating he is aware of his (and Neo’s) compulsion to follow seemingly preordained events. This is mostly true because similar events occurred in previous versions of the matrix. Smith and the Merovingian believe in causality and Neo believes in free will. He is an awesome actor! Same for Fishburn as well! Shame resurrections could've been alot better with those actors!
I enjoyed Resurrections, but I felt that one of the biggest flaws was recasting Smith. They handled the replacement of Morpheus well (justified him being different), but Smith didn't act anything like Smith.
Facts! When I was younger, I didn’t notice him sounding like a computer until now
Yes absolutely my most favorite villain
🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨
@@Novastar.SaberCombat In some scenes the effects become a little more obvious
Just compare how bright the colors look in the Avengers: Infinity War trailer and in the actual movie. It's like they applied 20 different filters on the originally bright and colorful image.
The presentation is simple but the story’s philosophy, its script, is very true.
i remember being in complete awe at this fight when i seen it at the age of 13. Matrix coreogrophy is still some of the best to this day. aint no Marvel movie having fights like this dude.
Can we agree Agent Smith's entrance with the crows is the most bad ass villain entrance.
I mean you see Thanos come through and you're like "Oh shit" or Darth Vader enters and you get chills. But this here, you see Agent Smith and you're like "there I saw. Death has arrived".
I dunno, Darth Vader’s entrance in Rogue One was pretty damned good.
Yes, I completely agree HiprVylan 505. I see it to. The filming here is amazing and brings a chill down the spine. Smith walking toward the camera as the crows caw and fly into the camera. It feels like a pivotal moment for an incredible character. Just brilliant
I think I read that it's an homage to director John Woo's trademark use of doves in his films, which were quite influential on this series.
@Dante Hellsing Interesting, didn't see it that way. Though Naruto came out after this right?
I was going to comment the same thing. The crows are the opposite of doves... the imagery is dope... I would also call multiple Smith's a murder.
Damn, almost 20 years later and this scene still gives chills.
Damn, over 20 years later and this scene still bores me beyond believe. Like many, many more scenes in Reloaded.

The first hour of the movie was boring but anything after the highway chase. I was hooked.
That's what Neo did to him in 1
But Smith found his way out of the recycle bin and discovered CTRL C 😄
Remembering that Neo is also a kind of Program!
One thing I love about Neo in this scene:
When the fighting begins he’s unready and panicking, but after a while he gains his concentration back so can kick the living shit out of Smith
He has 20 pounds of ATP in his muscles and absorbs extra oxygen through his skin.
he was overwhelmed by Smith's new power and didn't want to get caught again. Notice how Smith kept putting open hands on him because he was trying to hold him down to "possess" him. Once Neo got compose, Smith started straight up striking closed fist and going for full body grabs instead of holding his limbs down
I still remember the crazy ass theory that Agent Smith was actually The One the entire time and Neo was supposed to be the catalyst that set him off.
I believe that.... smith was like a glitch
"You are playing dangerous game" (c) Architector
In theirs 6th meeting Architector specifically said to Neo (in a programm language btw), that he (NEO) is the result (created because of) of anomaly, which he can't comprehend entirely and can't deal with (with anomaly).
Theres always a 1 and a zero in computer code lol
@@MrZlocktar It makes sense,but i don't understand something.
Smith is the anomaly, the virus, and Neo is cure.
But Smith when he turns Neo into a Smith clone,he corrupted the cure and due to the fact that he couldn't handle it,he explode and killing himself
My lack of understanding is this:
When neo first cures smith is in the end of the first one
Why did Smith survive and still was corrupted or was the anomaly,if he was cured in a way by neo in the first one?
Can we take a second and give Hugo weaving his flowers? His performance all throughout the series is simply Amazing
I really appreciate the fact they attack as soon as they can get to him and don't just try to attack him one by one, that kind of thing is annoying af
I saw one-at-a-time done well recently, but the setting was a city bus. "Nobody".
That s why they hire fighting director from HK

Love how the two adversaries are able to respect each other and have a conversation before the most over the top fight of all time

Life is ? This story had plenty of uniqueness, this mix of combining programming with existentialism was still quite new. There was good acting like Hugo’s, and there was good action. And people’s precious practical effects often look goofy and ridiculous too, particularly with living beings. @Zzzz No, you're just pointlessly categorizing people.
Best villain speech ever!
A lack of meaning. Hence his nihilism and desire to bring about the end of everything. Great point.
big brain
Smith did have a purpose. The tragic part is he didn't and couldn't know what that purpose was. Smith was never in control of what he could do. His purpose was to fuse with neo in revolutions and bring peace. Neo chose the path for both of them, but Smith never got a chance to choose. That's why in revolutions when Smith finally realizes everything at the end, he says oh no no no its not fair, it's not fair. Neo gets a choice but Smith doesn't.

Let's not exagerate. It's not better at all..
Don't use justice League as an example they massacred the movie just look at zs trailer
If you think so u really got to check your eye!
And it also fits since Smith is basically a virus in the Matrix, he’d fight like one too, just unrelenting attack
