The price of honor. The power of friendship. THE KARATE KID, Part II. Ralph Macchio and Noriyuki "Pat" Morita re-create the roles that brought them international acclaim in The Karate Kid. Karate student, Daniel Larusso (Macchio), accompanies his wise and whimsical teacher, Mr. Miyagi (Morita), to his ancestral home in Okinawa. For the boy, it's a journey to an exotic new world offering new clues to his mentor's secret past. For Miyagi, it's an opportunity to see his father one last time and tore kindle a romance with his childhood sweetheart (Nobu McCarthy). But Miyagi's return also re-ignites a bitter feud with long-time enemy, Sato (Danny Kamekona) - a feud that involves young Daniel in a brilliant collision of cultures and combat. Now, far away from the tournaments, the cheering crowds and the safety of home, Daniel will face his greatest challenge ever when teacher becomes student and the price of honor is life itself.

True! And watching this trailer again with that quote, adding it to some things from Cobra Kai Season 1 and 2, i can imagine we gonna see this again in the final Season. Most fans think Johnnys son Robby will win the Sekai Tournament, but since he was to this day Daniel's only male 1-1 student, i wouldnt be surprised if he ends like Daniel here in 1985 against Chozen. This is what missing in the CK show since it started, a no rule life and death duel among the teenys. And if it should happen, my money is Robby will be involved in it.
And the writers saved the drum. The real drum technique with these devastating palm strikes wasnt seen in the CK show yet...i would be surprised if it doesnt show up in Season 6.

The same for Kumiko that now that her aunt Yukie has passed away, I can only hope she moves to California and Daniel does the same for as he does for Chozen except he can help her start her business as a dance teacher since she loves being a dancer. @@williamshelton4318 It's good in some ways that Daniel saw Mr. Miyagi refuse to murder John Kreese by honking his nose for him to pass out which is why he got that idea to honk Chozen's nose not to murder him (being unknown if Daniel was strong enough like Chozen to murder Chozen himself). Regarding Daniel being sent to prison in Okinawa, that would still be unknown because there were over 100 witnesses (including Mr. Miyagi) around that castle area who saw that Chozen made that choice to make Daniel get rid of the bridge to start a death match against Daniel where after Daniel said "now I dropped the bridge let her go" where Chozen said "now we fight to the death" where Daniel had no choice but to defend himself and he if had to murder Chozen, that would have been his only defense where if a police officer came and said "Daniel Larusso, you're under arrest for murder", the crowd would have stepped in and said that it wasn't his fault, he was only defending himself from Chozen who was going to murder him.

The lack of music almost during the entire fighting sequence made to feel it more brutal than already is. In retrospective, you could say that Chozen is the most dangerous of all the opponents Daniel had to face by a big gap, not only because of his fighting skills but because he was determined to finish Daniel.
You can tell that the writers of Cobra Kai love him and that they wanted to redeem the character. I dont know about it honestly, i mean i really like Chozen in Cobra Kai but, for me, it is hard to conciliate the character from the movie with the character from the series. He seemed like a psycho. The fact that he wanted to kill Daniel for real and also that he held a knife to kumiko´s throath is hard to overlook. What Jhonny and Mike Barnes did was child play in comparisson.

@calebyi6956 I agree. Something tells me after Daniel won the death match here, he and Mr. Miyagi quickly got on the next airplane back to the states and when Chozen woke up from being passed out, it was probably then and there he apologized to Kumiko that he won't cause problems anymore and wanted to apologize to Daniel but, Kumiko must have told him that he and Mr. Miyagi left which was then and there Kumiko told Daniel on "Cobra Kai" that Chozen has changed in his behavior.

I disagree. Just because he beat Chozen, doesn't mean he could have easily beaten Mike. In all three movies, Daniel was much weaker than his enemy. The focus was "Daniel may be weaker but he's more disciplined and has a stronger mind and can overcome his enemy".
3 was a bad movie execution with a good story. It never really bothered me it was after 2, it just bothered me how it never felt as grand as 2.

I agree originally but when Cobra Kai is around I can appreciate it. Cobra Kai really cements how important it was for Daniel to fight for himself, others, and be balanced.
It makes it more reasonable that Mike Barnes was able to unhinge Daniel and beat him in every encounter because Daniel was isolated from his mentors and fighting off with aggression.
It also shows how badly Silver got into his head that makes him stronger in Cobra Kai. The fact he was able to tear apart the Miyagi and Daniel friendship despite KK2 really shows how good his plan was.
