I lived in the Phillips neighborhood for about a year. It was definitely economically depressed but I didn't mind it. Three simple rules: keep civil, mind your own business and don't be flexing.
Pretty easy to drive through when its below freezing, I worked off west broadway for a few months try going back when its warm
Yeah, thats what everyone is saying. I only go there for work in the winter/spring. If I'm ever there in the summer I'll do another drive through and just drive alot faster. haha
It looks much better frozen than it does in the summer.
I lived on Aldrich near West Broadway in the early 90s it was crime ridden back then. It got way worse when crack hit the neighborhood.
Worst Neighborhood in the entire state of Minnesota
When I was growing up my dad said that snow is the great equalizer. I asked him what that meant -- he said it was because the snow makes everything look clean and tidy.
It really does
My daughter went to South for a year, 15 years ago and said there was constant violence between American black and Somali kids.
Well Minneapolis has the highest somali population in America I believe
The city is a complete joke. I’d never subject my child to any of their schools.
I am not a fan of the snow and the cold weather time because I do not want to shovel the snow.
As you say, the houses don't look that bad. The reason for that is that money is not the issue, MN has some of the highest welfare payments in the country. Behavior is the issue.
It's a morality problem; and issue of the heart. This is why we need Jesus and the gospel.
Amen
No body is owning houses on welfare
I'm very grateful for you putting up the school stats from the Newport News, VA story. Really put things in perspective.
Yeah, all that stuff is very important when trying to figure out what is going on in these places. There's patterns there that people want to ignore. So I'm just getting them out there and people can do what they will with the information
I had been going to Google and looking up those stats, so she saves me a step...Happy New Year!
The only sketchy area of Minneapolis you drove through was W Broadway. Powderhorn is not a ghetto. It's a diverse neighborhood, but not dangerous. Also, you don't sound very familiar with Downtown Minneapolis, since you weren't sure where you were on Hennepin. Hennepin Avenue is the main street that goes through all of Downtown. I was born in Downtown Minneapolis and I used to live on 46th street, and my best friend grew up on 38th and Chicago. Minneapolis is a beautiful city.
Yeah, was there for work. I researched the broadway mass shooting areas other than that was just driving. Thanks for watching
I grew up in St Paul Minnesota stay half my younger generation on DuPont Ave North & Lowry St closed to the drive by shooting at the little beautiful black girl inside her home attend to her homework she was shit death ,I was there at the time...sad but true...
It definitely is beautiful but the people and crimes suck Glory to God
@@user-ew4lm8hh6vI remember when that happened also so sad still
North & South Minneapolis are the epitome of the noun ghetto. 😖
Thats my old stomping grounds in the 60's and 70's, what a change, its sad.
1:47 "they not nice"??? Someone like me who traveled the world I can tell you these houses are in fact very nice!!!
Snow isn't going to change the look of an old house that's not maintained.
No, but it hides alot of the garbage
Interesting student teacher ratio stats. The more teachers we throw at a school, the worse the student performance? Well that tactic aint workin so well.
Well when only 48% of the students in america graduate proficient at reading and math - we know there is a problem somewhere
Dont come around when theres no snow....😅
Thanks for the advice.
I live across from Press House it had 300 calls. Then, the Sheriff's office opened a training center and things have improved.
Whats the Press House?
@@risingcrimenews It use to be the Pioneer Press Building Saint Paul, but was converted into apartments called the Press House.
@@EqualOpportunityDestoroya thanks. thats alot of calls for one place
This part of the city makes me think of an asylum releasing all of its patients and confining them in one space.
I DO NOT go there. EVER! My relatives lived on 12th & Newton years back, but it’s severely declined since then (2001-2006). Even the preteens are unhinged, violent menaces! I remain in suburbs, happily. 🤗
A shooting and a mass shooting are not the same thing. As someone who has lived in NYC, skid row in Cali, East Cleveland and East Dayton, I can say with confidence, Minneapolis looks pretty normal. The demographics on that Nellie school are wild. They need more help and better educators.
My family and I are moving to Minnesota from Ohio. I haven't seen enough to make me believe the violence is worse than here.
In East Cleveland people get car jacked at Red Lights.
Dayton had 33 homicides in 2023 and that's a city of only 100,000 people. They have 585 aggravated assaults and in that same city is the largest employer in the state, Wright Patt.
There's good and bad everywhere.
Dayton has 137,000 ppl that 37,000 can make up for 6 or 7 homicides which would male it 26 homicides with 100,000 ppl
Like i said in your st Paul video earlier, the reason you dont see much cause the winter time too cold for crime 😅
Not sure I'd have driven through that Broadway area in the summer.
@@risingcrimenews you wouldn't want to🤣
Where are you pulling the data from?
Various sites on the internet. I try to look at multiple sites and find the ones that use the reported FBI data, assuming that is the most accurate
Great video
Thank you
Great video. Look forward to the George Floyd follow up. Nice to see that in the commentary you put the word neighbour back in the word neighbourhood. Guess those who don't understand the concept of neighbours, can't use that word, and so they call it the hood.
I just changed the title to reflect that as well - put the word (neighbor) before hood. thanks for the idea
Good morning. The follow up on George Floyd is very simple he's decomposing but Frozen or near Frozen state. Unless his family turned him into a powder in that case he's kind of wet and cold at the same time. You take care
@@risingcrimenews I did not expect that. Thanks, and stay safe.
@@mrbuilder2k383 wait til you see it. I was amazed at how much they did - there is seriously 2 blocks that are marked off as george floyd square. they love him there
@@risingcrimenews they do not know who he was and they don't care to find out. One day you will see a bulldozer come on and bulldozed that crap right out of that intersection right into a dump truck to your local landfill. But I got it wrong they will make a King Kong size statue the fentanyl Floyd. And it'll probably put it right in the middle of that stadium you drove by a few days ago. Stranger things have happened. Take care
It's not comparable to Chicago which has 4x the population of Minneapolis which makes the ratios misleading. Chicago has like 200+ shootings per month. No city comes close to it.
When you compare on a "per capita" basis (by population) Chicago isnt the worst city. It just has big numbers and a big population
@@risingcrimenews That's why it IS the worst. Even other large cities don't have those kind of shooting numbers per month. Per capita is exactly what I said makes it misleading.
Honestly looks like a nice area compared to the majority of the city of Milwaukee or Chicago .
Yeah I didnt think it was too bad, but people that live there said its only because of the snow. If I'd have been there in the summer they say it wouldve looked much worse
How you know so much about that neighborhood and you not from there and in that school percentage you could have left that
I literally make videos every day, so am reading about all this stuff on a daily basis. Dont have to live somewhere to do that.
Get REAL! I live in Mn, she's right and this is well-known about these areas!
Some say the poor studemt performance is an example of systemic racism. Tax dollars to officially, completely fail the children.
Ahhh Merwin liquor parking lot.. use to be able to get ur drugs there then the needle exchange was in the building as well. Lol
Can't see the litter on the ground and it makes it look wonderful! How can the parents allow these schools to fail so profoundly?? Even the most menial jobs require you to estimate amounts of , say, cleaning fluid you must use per square foot of surface to be cleaned. Carpenters, electricians, plumbers and even landscapers have to know how to measure and subdivide areas for God's sake!
If you are going to do this, I hope you are self-protected! You are too valuable a person to have at risk!
Love,
David
Thank you for that. I don't plan on doing it alot. I was just there and wanted to see that one Mass Shooting street and then decided to do more while i was there. Had I got a bad feeling at all I'd have headed straight for the freeway, but it oddly just felt like any other neighborhood. That was due in large part to the snow though I believe
@@risingcrimenews Yea, I'm weary of areas where there is a lot of lead in the air. To be fair I myself live in a rather sketchy neighborhood. There used to be a lot of stabbings around here before the cops confiscated my favourite knife.
@@ibrahimasscandy1849 haha
Jordan neighborhood is a weird creepy crime ridden but its not widely broadcasted. My bestfriend got killed in the jordan neighborhood.
Sorry to hear that
@@risingcrimenews Thank you
Grew up in Hawthorne and Jordan in the 80s and 90s, wasn't nearly as bad, late 90s was when you got the idea it wasn't going to be the place to be, like a cancer the violence and rot slowly crept north 😢
Go during the summer u will see a lot more losers in the street
I usually get sent there for work in the Spring, but if I'm ever there in the Summer I will definitely do another drive through. Thanks
You call it homicide; what is the breakdown, are gang members getting killed compared to non gang members?
A homicide is when one person causes the death of another person. A gang member is technically a person so it would still qualify as a homicide.
It’s definitely the snow, the Sunman hates the cold
11 Degrees is even too cold for hoodies and pooh-sheisties.
When the air is that cold it feels oddly refreshing and clean. haha
a racist mess!
The entire state is below grade for all grades!
Greetings from munich germany
Grüße aus Amerika. Danke fürs Zuschauen
I'm surprised UA-cam allows you to describe these areas and the people who live in them. They must like you???
Oh no. They do not like me at all.....Not even a little
@@risingcrimenews Everything they don't agree with is racist and hateful even when you are stating facts!!!
Be safe.
Definitely a false sense of security with the snow I think. I could've been driving anywhere. I barely saw anyone walking. But it was 11 degrees.
Be Presentdent!
I’d be careful what you film…you might record the wrong thing and not make it out of there…
Thanks for the advice. I don't plan on going back.
Whines about crime, runs every stop sign
Thanks for watching my whiny video
Apologies. TALKS about crime while committing crimes.
@@user-ds1og5xj9r Thanks for watching. The Algo doesnt care if you like the video or not
I will say thats not true about north stats but ill tell you why most couldnt do math becauuusseee they only taught us soduko the whole year every year buuttt most kids can read i graduated there in 2010 and went on to college
Thanks for sharing that. And good for you for making something of yourself
@@risingcrimenews Thank you girl I was determined
Sad community.
Why are you driving through and speaking on a place you know nothing about
How do you know I don't know anything about it? Do you know where I live?
@@risingcrimenews 👍
Young Lady what in the hell are you doing? Reporting from the comfort and safety of your secure location is much better than going back to the scenes of the crime. You are not a war correspondent you read statistical data. It's time to do a tactical withdrawal understanding of the gas stations have become a real problem lately anytime lately. You take care let us know when you're out of the war zone. Take care
Left there on Saturday. Wait until next video to see how ironic (not sure thats the right word) that drive I did was. I have to go to Milwaukee at the end of the month so I will likely do a video there as well. I actually really enjoyed doing it. And when you see the next video you'll see why I kinda want to do more of them -- or maybe shouldn't do more of them.
@@risingcrimenews I did figure with the graphics overlay which takes time that you've already done this. Just remember a bullet can travel over one mile.Only one in your radiator and your car two to three minutes later is disabled and now you're on foot. Wouldn't it be easier using Google Earth and you can always leave the window open to simulate the cold. Most of the women I've ever known don't do maintenance on their vehicle. That's how they wanted to get to know me because I was doing maintenance on their vehicle. All they wanted to do is get in and drive. Oh boy.
@@mrbuilder2k383 Yeah, I got sent there for work and wanted to see that area that had the 3 mass shootings in just a couple blocks last year. So decided to drive around a bit more. It really didnt feel unsafe. it was 11 degrees and no one was out. But you are correct, a bullet can travel quite a distance before it hits anything. I also made sure to do it at 9am so most of the criminals were still asleep. haha
You are a good man, mrbuilder2k.
@@davidvonkettering204 I appreciate that Dave. I'm worded this way. It's more accurate. I'm a decent man until that point where I need to be otherwise. I've heard some women over the years call me a good man and I find out later on that is a pejorative a curse word. A few were persistent you might say and I did call them out on using that term with regards to me and they did tell me I was correct and I told them goodbye. At least those women told the truth today however they lied like a rug. Not all but I'd say about 75 to 85%. You take care Dave talk to you later

Another person thats not even from here putting out a bunch of false facts about so much in these neighborhoods. Also a lot of racial bashing shame on you do better.
How do you know where I'm from? Where did I commit "racial bashing"? The statistics are all factual as well. If you disagree, please show me factual data that proves me wrong.
@Peppa pig Its murder rate is about the same as Chicago, Compton and WAAAAAY higher than that of New York, but not as high as louisville and nowhere near Detroit. Detroit was ranked the 19th most dangerous city in the world. So yeah, its better than that. You obviously live there so are not looking at it objectively. Its really bad
I agree with you 100%. Racism is a disease passed from one hateful devil to another.
@peppapig9384as someone who lives in south Minneapolis i can confirm yes its much worst then every city you named except for Detroit. Your literally trying to be bias because your in denial of crime & normalize it karen. It is one of the worst in the country. Facts over feelings
@@risingcrimenews Tell us about the murder rate because your info is false. per 100,000 minneapolis is not worse than Chicago or Compton. Only around 1996 minneapolis got that bad when it surpassed New York.
