A story of betrayal: Former Minneapolis cop tells all

  • Giving up the Third Precinct was intentional, according to a former Minneapolis cop, who said it was offered as a "prize" to rioters. The officer turned in her badge just a few weeks later, betrayed by the city she had devoted her life to protecting.

      Sounds like you believe everything in that doc? You are pretty easy to convince. Since you were not there and you were not called to be on the jury, what moral right to make a judgement? I have no moral right to make a judgement on either side of the story. Why? Because I was not there. I do not believe every little thing that is presented on film, video, or radio. Just try to be impartial. You think you have a moral right to judge? Go ahead, make your judgment. Just like OJ, I have no idea if OJ is a murderer or not. You can not believe the people who have tried and convicted him in their mind. I am sure some would carry out violence against him if in the right kind of crowd.

      And that's why I have really no sympathy for the people of Minneapolis or Minnesota. They voted for this. And when the opportunity came to fire the clowns who presided over this debacle, they rehired them. So people of Minneapolis, enjoy it as your city descends into crime and lawlessness. Enjoy watching businesses close and property values plummet and you have to install bars on your windows. You _chose_ this. Decline, as they say, is a choice, and you decided to choose it.

    Lived in Mpls in the 70's and loved it. My job took me back there in the 90's and the city was completely different. Worked downtown and it was full of people who had taken a bus to get to the city because Minnesota was the only state in the midwest that hadn't reformed welfare or passed the '3 Strikes You're Out' laws. So all the worst of the worst from places like Detroit, Chicago, and Milwaukee were moving to Minnesota. Was only there for another 4 years but it got steadily worse. Now it's a more dangerous city than Detroit. Those Finlanders have no idea what happened because they're just plain naive and ignorant of reality outside their own little bubble. Wouldn't move back for all the tea in China.

    for all my life up to a few years ago. Seeing your neighborhood being burned, rioted, destroyed, and small businesses being looted is heartbreaking. Early the next morning, I and my daughter's had to go there to see the destruction for ourselves. We couldn't believe it. It looked like a war zone. I grabbed my camera and said to my daughter's start capturing this, this is history in the making. Building's, cars, looters. S. Mpls is still feeling the aftermath. 😢

    The bedrock of democracy is it's law enforcement; democracy is the U.S. is dying with the institutional persecution of its authority figures. The same is beginning to happen here in the UK - police officers are being persecuted for defending themselves within the bounds of the law. I recently spoke with a police officer who told me that there is now no difference between doing a great job and getting fired for malpractice. That's frightening.

    • @jimmyyounger618
      @jimmyyounger618 8 місяців тому

      Equally concerning is the way the government of the UK distorts the reality and prohibits the truth. Being a paramedic firefighter here in the U.S., I shared the complaint of a London firefighter feeling overwhelmed by the enormous increase in calls he'd described on Facebook. The only part of his post that could potentially offend anyone was a brief remark that the vast majority of these calls were to attend to new immigrants as he also witnessed a new level of violence that didn't previously exist. Not only did the UK have his comment removed, those of us who shared it had it removed and our accounts suspended. For god sakes, I'm an American! I can have my free speech rights usurped along with a Facebook suspension by a foreign government? Outrageous. Facebook is dead to me now and my attitude toward the UK leadership makes me abundantly thankful for our war for independence. I suddenly understood what it was like to be more a subject than a citizen.

      We’re not a democracy, we’re supposed to be a republic. One of the hallmarks of a republic is the supremacy of the rights of individual citizens. Unfortunately we no longer live in a republic, or even a democracy - we are a police state. When the government has the both the power and the will to trample individual’s rights, and when they do so willfully (and through our kangaroo court system continually give themselves more and more power to do so), we are no longer a free country - we are a police state. No one in law enforcement has any reason to take pride in what they do. They are simply the arm of the government which is used to keep whatever group those in power decide needs to be kept in check at that moment. FTPOSP.

    I'm a cop for a large department and all of us were abandoned and betrayed by city leaders and the community. But I didn't quit. She didn't lose her career, she willingly quit. She quit on Officers like me that stayed and sucked it up. Don't feel bad for her. I guarantee you that because she was a female and alternate life style she was placed on the community team and FYI, community teams don't do real police work. They go around smiling, handing out toys and doing touchy feely nonsense for a job. What happened is the riots and she had to become a real cop and it scared the hell out of her and she quit leaving the real police to deal with it. Every department had a bunch of officers quit or retire. They are fair weather people and when the going got tough, they got going....right out the door.

I mean you say quiting on her fellow officers , but she really quit on the department.

You dealt with a shitty situation for really a very short time. Walk in my shoes and that of many service personnel who actually have to deal with P.T.S.D. due to prolonged exposure. Crybaby assholes are using it as a way to get compensated for quitting their jobs. You took an oath, as did I and I have not given up on the United States and will continue to protect this land that I love and most of the people in it.
