Question from a non-Jiujitsu person (Kempo): At about 2:30, why does he place the back of his hand on the head, instead of the palm (as I was taught years ago)?
The back of the hand fits the occipital ridge better and the tendency of people using the palm instead is to push with that hand, which isn’t as mechanically efficient.
As always, thank you always professor ! I have Tap Cancer Out tournament this Saturday.. I will definitely keep these chokes in mind if I am able to take my opponents back
While I'm not a trained fighter i have been in a lot of fights and one thing i learned is that a good defense from this position if they have there hooks in would be to place your elbow either 4 to 6 inches below there knee or directly into there shin and lean as much of your body weight as possible into them and then pull there foot into your chest while it's not guaranteed to make everybody let go of you it is painful enough to make most people cry out in pain and let go of you hope this helps
Eli, I ended up on top of my partner with hooks in who was in a locked down turtle position and his hands criss crossed under his chin. I had that position for 2 minutes and couldn't get anything. Very frustrating! Can you make a video on breaking through a really tight turtle defense? Thanks!
@@KnightJiuJitsu Thanks for share your knowleg(sorry for my english) big hug ! Translate, Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos( perdón mi inglés no es muy bueno) Gran abrazo !
I don't know what the hell a unicorn hunter is. My friend Brandon McCaghren with 10th Planet Decatur made these shirts and I bought one. That's about the extent of it.

That short choke is also commonly known as the "Marine Choke" because (at least at one point) was taught in Marine Corps h2h combat.
