For foreigners yes because it brings dollars and some recognition to their country! But for their own no humanity at all. Extremely selfish, when using roads, does not obey road rules. Wonderful video Ken. We think living at posh addresses and owning bungalows makes us rich. Actually this Sri Lankan family is the rich ones… hill living, all manners of fruit trees and spectacular views.

Well, Ken, you already have the experience of eating with hand when you were in Malaysia so it's not a problem now. Maybe after the subscriber has taught you the correct technique, it's easier now. Malaysians too use ambras and jackfruits ( usually young ones ) to cook their curries. Ambra drinks taste better with "assam boi". Wow, they even packed some food for you to bring back to the hotel. How hospitable they are !!!
we have jackfruit and ambarella fruit in jamaica though we call it june plum. we sometimes eat it with salty spice - like they sell on the streets of vietnam. when i visited sri lanka i had noticed a breadfruit tree. the housekeeper where we stayed got some and prepared the most delicious melt-in-your-mouth curry! we roast the breadfruit and eat it as a side similarly to the way one would eat bread. :) sri lankan food is a delightful treat!!
The English rulers viewed Asians in some of their Crown Colonies using fingers to eat but they thought that they were using entire hands and they mentioned it that way and to this day Westerners call it “ eating with hands” Actually Sri Lankans use only the finger tips to mix food and eat using only fingers with no food contacting palms or the lower parts of fingers.
This kind of traditional home for extended family is also self sufficient in many kinds of food and the kitchen tools and utensils allow people to prepare everything from scratch. No fast food! It’s in general quite an environmentally friendly way of life too. Sour flavours are valued in Sri Lanka so even fruit which are sour are quite popular. As you can see it’s a healthy way of life! People are very active and do not need a gym! Just everyday activities keep them fit. Pounding and grinding food with heavy stone implements is a daily happening. The food is great in SL because so much effort and love goes into it! You have a very good bunch of hosts there, lovely people. Lovely home. The little squirrel is called a lena and they are very common and friendly. Leftover food is often put out for wild creatures which is why you can see such a variety of animals and birds. There are headmen and women in all parts of the country who look after local affairs as well as official matters. It’s a great system that ensures things are looked after, including public health measures, like ensuring there’s no stagnant water left around, this helps control mosquitoes, so malaria is no longer such a problem. I miss SL a lot, it’s a great place.
You are really lucky to be invited by a stranger & I understand that Sri Lankans are happy to do this. It's so nice to see & experience the unpolluted clean village life. People look very innocent, welcoming & willing to share what they have even though they are not rich financially but rich in their culture. I don't think it's easy to find people cooking the traditional way as every thing is modern today. I'm sure the food raste better when cooked in clay pots & with wood fire. You might experience more of this kind of reception if you visit more villages. Remember that Sri Lanka is a country with a long history in many aspects. You have a lot to discover among the different races traditions, food, culture etc.

Like the atmosphere in the village house with the squirrel and the chickens, the view from the roof is awesome. Never heard about the green colour fruit that your host prepared juice and also curry. Would love to visit Sri Lanka and try the fruit. Did not know that papaya flower is a delicacy in Sri Lanka, never taste it before although I know Indonesians eat the flowers too. Hi Mr.Ken, Glad to hear that you are having an amazing time in beautiful Srilanka. As a huge fan of your travel vlogs, we are honoured to have you here in Srilanka. We would love to invite you to our place, 'The Treasure, Habarana' to spend your time with us, getting to know about the culture, tradition and seeing the wonders of Srilanka that are located nearby. As Habarana is located in the middle of wonderful travel destinations, World heritage sites, wildlife, beach sides, I know it will worth your time to spend several days with us in our village! As I am a national tour guide lecturer, I can guide you and make this destination a memorable one in your life forever! I will get you the transport also complementary! This might be a golden hand to uplift the live pattern of real Sri Lankan villagers and the fallen economy of Srilanka establishing tourism again. Yours sincerely Lucky

What a Lovely set of Locals showing great hospitality ❤
Such a wonderful video with utmost humility Ken. Great tour guide and host. Scenery and garden looking so lovely. Instantly fell in love with the village.
It is so great to have this experience with the locals in Sri Lanka. You have had one of the best experiences Ken. Wonderful! Sri Lankans are best at their hospitality.
Happy to see you invited by a nice family in Kandy. My wife is from Kandy and I lived Four years during the seventies. We are watching all your videos made in Sri Lanka from UK. We lived in your wonderful country for twenty years in Niedersachsen. Danke schön und Alles gute.
Hi Mr.Ken,
Glad to hear that you are having an amazing time in beautiful Srilanka.
Yours sincerely
Lucky

Headwoman means grama niladhari?
Wow never heard from a headwoman or man before. I left sri Lanka with my parents before I was an adult although I had heard and met headmen/women before ,I did not seen a response to a UA-cam video.
@@vijayafernando1 They use the word HeadWoman/Man for Gramasevaka for better understanding I guess.
@@soonalldotcom3381 no not at all , that means ගමේ ඔලුවා😂
WOW ...... such a nice hospitality. This is so wholesome though. Lots of love to this Sri lankan family here..💕
