    "Gihin Ennan" literally means Auf Wiedersehen in German.. The villagers here usually dont mean "i am going" at anytime because they dont expect to never see them again.. so most often when you depart they say "see you later" which is considered more generous than "bye" 😊

  • @adilfowzy
    @adilfowzy 2 роки тому +72

    Banana in Sinhalese is "Kesel" That woman said "Gihin Ennam" means "I will be back". .The place you go is Ambuluwawa. The odd fruit is an Ariconut (in sinhalese Puwak) to be chewed with beetle.

    Hey Ken, A little tip for riding the bike in Sri Lanka. Always remember to check side mirrors when you are riding the bike, even when you are doing a U-Turn or crossing the road, check the side mirrors. Also when you are exploring while riding, please remember not to stop the bike all of a sudden, instead make it slow and steady. Have a safe journey brother. Good luck 🤞

    Hi Ken 👋🏻 wow this is exciting another road trip to the rural area , a lot of similarity to Malaysian villages and roadside stalls. I love that everyone speaks English or a bit one or two words that makes travel easier 👍 I think it's the betelnut fruits , you eat with betel leaf and a few more ingredients. Taste bitter of course 😅
    At last you reached the tower 👍 stunning view but my feet went tinglings while watching you climbing up the stairs 😅 really giddy and woozy 🤣 overall the SL people are really nice and approachable , I would love to visit SL in my next holiday , thanks Ken 👍🥰

    The challenges of being a solo traveller in a foreign land, nevertheless ..The level of experience you gain is enormous and rewarding...100% agree on what you mentioned... .. Travelling is not about the destination, but the journey along the way....Enjoying the off beaten path journey that you are bringing us along...( just like back in Thailand & Malaysia). Stay safe, be vigilant, ride safely and enjoy the views...... Take care mate

    Ambuluwawa Tower
    Reaching the top of Ambuluwawa one can experience the most amazing views which could sometimes be covered by the ongoing mist. However, once the mist clears off the view can be scary and freak out climbers, especially those who have a fear of heights. Do note that hiking Ambuluwawa is not at all dangerous or risky, but it would not be the ideal kind of adventure for those with a fear of heights. Avoid leaning on the railing to capture photographs especially at the top as this is extremely risky and one could easily slip off from here. Ambuluwawa is a relatively easy hike to do which gives you 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains, forests, rivers and towns.
    ❤Thank You For Comming ❤

    The pastry you might have had could’ve been either a “Fish bun” or a “Seeni sambal bun”. Seeni sambal is made by sautéing onions with sugar, chilli, salt and tamarind juice and caramelising it. however, traditionally, Fish Buns are what’s shaped like triangles here in Sri Lanka. Seeni Sambal buns are usually log shaped.

    You can ask them to split the Thambili (Coconut). They will cut and give you a piece to scoop out the kernel. It is very delicious.

    That was scary ! I wonder if the railing was just concrete with no reinforced rods ! Thank you for another great video Ken.
