The video of arriving in Sri Lanka ➡ • I Left Thailand And Ca...
Time to get some Sri Lanka First Impressions! I asked my tuk tuk or rickshaw driver to bring me to the busiest part of Colombo and he dropped me right in the middle of Pettah Market. A bustling neighborhood, lots of vendors and shops. What a place to get some first impressions of Colombo and of Sri Lanka in general. Join me as we explore around, try some food bargain for a shirt, speak with locals etc...

That's why they were saying it is sweet and it's not a medicine but used in ayurveda as one among the many ingredients for making ayurvedic products including ayurvedic hair oil, its very good for your health.

Sri Lanka was on the top list of Lonely Planet for 2 consecutive years (2017-2018). All the famous areas were mentioned by some viewers on above messages..! Along the beach coast, the sea is beautiful & wild..! Not many constructions as soon as you get out of Colombo, except Kandy is quite developing with construction..! Other parts of SL are still very wild.! It s Different from India because it has much less population & Sri Lankan people are very nice (before Covid) I don’t know now because they have hardship life to struggle with Covid situation & the economy is getting worse…! That fruit is an Indian Gooseberry, called "nellikai" in tamil. When eaten straight from harvest, it will taste raw and sour. The method to fully enjoy this fruit is by soaking the berries in a cup of water for atleast an hour. After it has been soaked, you can eat the berries and it will taste much sweeter and much more pleasant experience for you. Cheers!

You should always mix the faluda well before drinking so that it even out the sweetness. Hope it helps! The chips you are cassava chips, it’s a root vegetable.

The orange colour big fruit is not just a normal coconut that you find in Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines etc. Its a very special healthy fruit called KING COCONUT. I understand that its as good as the drip that's given in hospitals when you can't take food. It has many many medicinal values. As proof of this, You will definitely find this KING COCONUT sold near any hospital in Sri Lanka. I don't think you can find it in India. Its like some thing native to Sri Lanka like the Ceylon Cinnamon. You can see it in some places in Malaysia but no Malaysian know the value of this king coconut. I understand that this king coconut in canned in sri Lanka & exported. As far as I know, you must drink the king coconut water when the fruit is young in order to get the best benefits, before the fruit is matured, where the flesh is formed inside the fruit. You can check it out with the locals. You can drink the water to give you strength etc when you have diahrea.

Some things misunderstood due to the language differences are also funny ... but one thing I feel your are missing out on is the actual sri lankan experience for the lack of a sri lankan to take you around. 2. Practice some Sinhala places like "Hello", "Thank you", "Excuse me" and try to pronounce them as a native so that Sri Lankans will appreciate you.
    3. Be sure to visit places like Kandy, Jaffna, Kataragama, Galle, Nuwara Eliya, Trincomalee and Sigiriya.
    4. Try to make friends from Sri Lanka and then you won't feel alone in the country.
    5. Some places offer Sri Lankan food like "milk rice", "hoppers", "string hoppers", "Kottu", "rice and curries". You can try out some of these dishes. Maybe be you can learn how to make them too...
And I"m so happy to see you enjoying our culture.

I have never been to Sri Lanka before, but judging from the price you pay for snacks of R100, which is around B15 of Thai money (close to Thailand's B20 today) I would expect prices to be similar to Thailand in the markets. Of course, I don't know which country the shirt you bought is from, but I do know that the garment industry in Sri Lanka is bustling with factories. So I think the shirt should not be expensive. Maybe a good price would be R1,516, around B250 in Thai money (an amount I can easily buy a polo shirt for in Chatuchak Market). Hope this is a fair analysis.

This fruit is called Amla, a great medicinal fruit. Abundantly used in traditional medicine of the Indian subcontinent. Everything is good about the fruit. One can even eat it in dried form which lasts for years.

From 🇸🇬 Singapore. The Fruit called " "Nelli Kaai" or "AMLA" is a great anti oxidant..Vitamin C and its is said to hold more Vitamin C than an Orange...it usually tastes sour and often eaten raw and it tastes great if you take a sip of water just after ..or can be eaten with some salt and chilli powder and can be made into pickles as well. The dried powdered version is added to hair wash powders and dyes etc to give good hair growth.

I don't know my way around Sri Lanka but they did have a civil war not that ago. A few years ago I was advised not to go. I don't know about it Ken, but it may be worth doing some basic research on that to avoid the possibility of saying the wrong thing. I get the impression that there are still tensions beneath the surface. Anyway, apart from the this issue, it is a beautiful country with temple's, tea plantations and beaches. I think the town of Kandy is worth a visit. Safe travels. 👍
