Hi....i just have a question i need to paint the tub and tiles... 80 sq ft of the tiles so do you think i can make it with the 26 fl oz or do i need 2 cans❓️
Hmm good question. I dont have much experience with hvlp sprayers but I think you could. it is an epoxy and ive seen resurfacing always done with the hvlp.
I have seen some soap dishes done around them they have aluminum strips that you can use around the tile to make sure it has a smooth or level sitting area
I used the same product and was not impressed, after 2 weeks it was still soft. I'm refinishing it right not using the Rust oleum and hoping it works better than tough as tile.
Actually the main reason why they don’t want to use the foam roller is because it can cause bubbles - & that’s the same reason you don’t shake the can …. Clear coats - whether oil or latex usually have the same instructions /problems with “AIR BUBBLES” but It’s usually the bigger (9”) foam roller sleeves that give you that problem. Looks great tho .. Keep Doing your thing Bro. 😎👍🏼
I didnt sand too much i used a 120 grit then a 220 but it was more to just clean off grime and rough up the surface to give the paint something to stick to
I'm sure with time there's always a risk of it chipping. This house I can't say because we sold it. but I used this in an old shower and I had it for about 2 years with no issues before I remodeled that bathroom.
It looks great. At first. Just don't even think about touching it for two days while it dries. Don't put any pressure on it, ever, it will leave a mark. Or save yourself hours of work and buy something else.
Thats true about letting it cure for 48 hours. Didnt have any issues with pressure marks personally but i can see how that would be frustrating. Thanks for sharing!
good advice to use the foam brush. I think I'll try the foam roller too. After sanding good, you really think you need to put the cleaning chemical , use the steel wool and the alcohol?
probably the reason they caution against using a foam roller is that some solvents will dissolve some types of foam. Unless you know exactly what type of foam the roller/brush is made of you could risk having it disintegrate into a mushy mess, while you're using it.
I read some people had trouble with the product drying too fast. How long did it take to apply a single coat? And can you save the rest for the second coat?
For sure ! If you let this stuff sit it starts to get thick and hard to work with. It took about 10-15 min per coat and what i do is pour only a small amount in the tray at a time and keep the rest in the container covered and just pour as needed. Probably about 1/8 to 1/4 of the quart at a time . I dnt normally put any back in the can i try to use it all or just let it dry in the tray until the next coat.
I think I see why they say not to use a foam roller. I used one, just finished the 3rd coat and it's deteriorating and leaving little foam balls every once in a while. I think the paint/lacquer must not work well with foam. Still turned out great and looks like new regardless.
Only wish you could have shown us the texture up close. I would use this except I am seeking a perfectly smooth, shiny finish. I'm afraid the only way to get that is going to be spraying it.
Thanks Bryan. I have a gravity feed hvlp and the Home Right airless. I'm afraid the airless may require thinning to the point of requiring multiple coats to cover. I'll try it and see.
@@francheskagleichsner7217 i ended up getting some stains on the tub while working on the rest of the house and decided to just do another quick coat so it was perfect for our buyer

True…. So you can be using a little older product and inhaling the same toxic fumes that are just mask so you don’t smell them…. I had my tub professionally done. They had to do a 2nd time because there were bubbles. It’s been 2 1/2 years and I’m thinking of doing it myself. It is chipped. They charged $700
What do you do if there are sag or drip marks?? Just try to paint them out with the foam brush? For some reason the roller doesn't work out as smooth as it did for you. For me it left a gritty finish. Maybe I dumped too much paint in the pan and it dried on me?
If its dry already i would try and sand the drip marks to get rid of them maybe like 220 or higher grit andthen recleaning before repainting. Same thing for the grit i would do a light sand and clean in between coats to knock any of that grit off
You sure about that? Ive seen the other ones make air bubbles too with the paint too lol, i think it depends on what material your tub is and how well you cleaned/sanded
I did a third coat because i had some drips and it got dirty when we did the tile so i went ahead and did anothe coat but i think 2 coats are recomended
the thing about these refinishing kits is why don’t the manufacturers of these products include some type of primer of base coat for these finishes to bond and last longer?

For the reason that you cannot use a foam roller, it is because the paint is very strong and melts the material of the roller.
