Thanks for the video! Followed these same steps and used the same products and it worked just as it did for you! The sandpaper was a BIGGG help!
It's funny was just going thru the old tub stripping video and this one popped up.
Love seeing tubs restored.
Always learn something new.
Thanks for watching..hope all is well with you. Is there anything in particular that you would want to see?
@@DPTubs probably s video on how to clean the exaust fan.
Thank you.
I used this product to stip paint from my bathtub and tile. After going through a can of the spray and a can of the liquid I was only about 1/4 of the way through the job and then I saw the teeny tiny "not for bathtubs" warning on the label! I switched to citristrip and it actually got the paint to lift off very easily! There was much less fumes as well.
I just used the citrus strip and inlet it sit and it hardly removes any layers that’s why I’m watching this video for Plan B.. wait are you a citrus peel rep
@@Sublimekarnage I’ve been using citrastrip as well and works well for things without as many layers. Unfortunately the tub I need to work on is going to need something a bit heavier.
I just bought citristrip gel and havent used it yet. Any tips guys? Should i use something else

😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Finally detailed instructions! I'm definitely going to try this on my sink. Thx for sharing! 😊
Is the paint stripper you used safe for a porcelain tub? I want to restore mine to the original layer...
Great jobe. Looks so much better and you didn't even finish yet. I have to do the tub sink and also the walls. It's a big job but almost looks therapeutic
Day and night, beautiful job! Danny.
Thanks Mike! Love your Custom Made ice cream scooper
@@DPTubs Thank you! Danny
You make it looks so easy. Awesome job!!
Thank you! Cheers!
@@DPTubs how to remove previously painted plastic showerpan?
@@DPTubs that stripper can melt the palstic
My tub was re glazed. It turned yellow within a week. It's been yellow for years now. 😢
My question is, Is it possible to just remove the ugly paint that's now pealing and cracked but leave it striped or is it likely that the re glazing job I paid too much for permanently damages whatever was left of the old finish.
What is the paint product you use to reglaze the tub?
How do I know if my bathtub had been glazed before? I have chips, peeling, and black molds on the bottom of the tub, and it looks awful. Would like to clean it properly and refinish it.
Hi. great video. how do you scrape the four inside corners in the tub? they're too concave for blade. Thanks.
These blade are somewhat flexible, ive been reglazing for 20 years and rarely had a problem getting all the paint out of those 4 corners.
Yes the blade will break if the paint is on there tough but with enough swipes, it will clear.
Thank you very much for this video! However I couldn't find this product so I used another but thanks for letting me know what I was to expect!!!
You redid the epoxying after seeing it spall off beforehand ?
Better to just powerpolish off the brown stain in the bath.
Well first off, regarding the reason the can says not to use this in bathrooms. I googled it and found an article saying that people have died using this in bathrooms without adequate ventilation/ respirators, so I'm guessing its in order to protect the company legally. I reluctantly tried it on my bathtub. I found out that I didnt spray enough of it, and that I mostly just stripped the top layer anyway and not both layers. I ended up using it 3 times, removing different layers/ amounts and still never got it all. I'm not sure that doing it the slow way/ without chemicals would have actually been slower than this. In retrospect, I should have just hired a pro.
Same here .. I'm gonna hire someone to finish stripping it .. a whole can only strip away about 5 rows of tile in the shower 20 to go plus the tub....
What product did you use to paint the tube at the very end? Thank you
Yeah he skipped over it.
Thank you so much for this helpful video. ❤ the music.
What kind of scraper should I be using?
how long did the whole process take in total?
I just used this on a claw tub Im adding to my master bath. I works really well. My only problem was.. the sprayer.. it kept getting clogged . so i had to go back to the store and purchase the liquid form. which was a bummer because i was spending more money out the budget. But like i said it worked really well.
I wonder if you could just bleach it once you were done to make the bottom white.
I used some kind of paint years ago to change the color of my tub from blue to white. The tub is a cast iron tub and I don't want to get rid of it. I would like to return to the blue that I had. I just want to strip the white paint and return to the original. Is this the product you would recommend?
Try citristrip. Much better and safer than the Jasco!
I’m looking to do this on my tub. I’m a renter the landlord won’t fix the paint peeling but it’s driving me crazy! Can you leave the tub as is after stripping the glaze off and cleaning? Not really trying to update just want to get rid of peeling paint.
Can we use our bathroom exhaust fan while using this product? Is it flammable to the point the fan would start a fire? How else do we ventilate effectively? Great video's!
You can use the bath exhaust fan but make sure to clean off vent cover after using. Also, I use an 8" diameter fume extractor exhaust fan while spraying. I have a video of it here on my channel.
I’m going to get this to strip the paint Resurfacing that was done to my bathtub and shower and sink and it’s all peeling thank you so much cause I don’t wanna spend any more money paying someone to do a job that’s not gonna be right so I will get this tomorrow thank you so much and I will subscribe to your channel
Did this work for you? I bought the paint on version of this product and it does nothing to remove the tile paint. The tile reglazing guy said that they took out the chemical from this product that used to make it work.
Great video. I couldn't find a steam stripper with enough power. Jasco might do it for me.
Any thoughts on polish to smooth out surface and remove brown stain from water drop-down ?
Good job DANNY
Hi… what if the landlord painted the tile on the walls and they are peeling too? You think this would work?
Yes!
Jasco stripers don't work nowadays. They change their quimical composition. And they don't work anymore. You can only remove very thin layers of paint.
That's my experience, too! 😐
Any tips on what product to use to strip?
What kind of razor were you using and whats it called so i can buy one
So you said, primer and then reglaze, what did you used for primer? This is a steel bathtub?
I wish you would’ve shown the final steps to finishing the tub
Brilliant just what I needed to know!!
Can you make a videos on how you mix your paints and the process ?
Yes a few coming up!
@@DPTubs thanks men that would be perfect 🤩
After a lot of thought about this prokect I looked this job and first video to pop ip was this. Hot the jackpot just what I meeded. From beginning to end. Can I ask about the fixtures or plug? Have you had to change them or just cover before painting? Wondering if a plumber will have to be my best bet. Thank you for the project video
I cover and mask them off if the customer doesn’t want to change them out. I let the customer decide since the more I do the more it costs.
I have videos of the full Reglazing process and another video showing the masking and taping process
Are there any safety precautions I need to know?
Wear gloves
Protect eyes
Respirator
Ventilation
Follow all safety instructions that the product manuals or instructions give you.
That stripper only works in very thin layers of paint.
If you use it in a tub with a thick or regular reglazing layer of paint it would not remove it. It would not work.
Any recommendations on what stripper product can be used?
Which area you serve ? Need help in Turlock near Modesto
Hi, is this product OK to use if we don't have an exhaust fan?
Yes, just remember to breathe deeply 😊
Please someone tell me if this is the process of removing paint from porcelain tub too??
Thank you 👍🙏💞
is this only for paint or glazed tubs as well, I need to reglaze my tub its peeling
Original tubs don’t peel! They only peel if it’s a coating. Otherwise they chip!
Thank you bro 👊
Anytime!
Do you think this will strip marine epoxy from a fiberglass dinghy?
Hey man where can I buy that napco piranha prep? I can’t seem to able to buy it anywhere
Napco Ltd website
Can I use Jasco stripped if I do not want to reglaze...I have cultured marble tub and surround that was painted...us there anything that removes paint without scratching marble. Thank you
I would not use in fiberglass or cultured marble
Thank you for reply. Is there anything I can use?
Is this product safe on fiberglass tubs?
No..do not use jasco paint remover on fiberglass tubs or showers. It could damage the gelcoat.
Nice Work
My landlord painted my bath tub what looks like 30 times, and then dumped a very thin epoxy on top of the peeling and chipping paint, which solidified it into these razor sharp points. The tub is an old metal one, and the job looks daunting thats for sure. But I am so tired of slicing myself open. Lol
Did you use a rubber, plastic or metal blade??
Single edge metal blade
Do you have a video on getting old paint off bathroom tiles on the wall in the shower? My old landlord painted it but it’s peeling in certain places and not enough to where I can get it all off.
Do it the same way
Yes I’m having the same issue with my tub too. Painted over tile and tub. Chipping tends to clog the drain if filter is not in place. Can this affect the tile grout or a plastic tub?
@@DPTubs can this affect a plastic tub or tile grout? See additional message 🙏🏻
To anybody wondering if this really does work it really does work
Great video, however Jasco says an n95 mask is not enough. Better to use a chemical mask. You can read their msds sheet. Was going to just tear out my painted tub. Will save this video for future reference. My condo neighbor had a molded liner installed instead and that developed mold...
Good to know!
I have a fiberglass tup and wall. The previous owner painted it white (originally almond color). If I remove the paint, will that damage the fiberglass and would I need to repaint it or can I leave it the original color without painting it?
I'm using Jasco but I had purchased the paint on version. It's not causing it to bubble. This is the 2nd brand I tried. It's really hard to scrape off. 😞
If it’s paint on then that’s going to cause the paint to bond to the tub. To help the paint stay on longer
What are u using to scrape it with
Is this a fiberglass tub or other?
FIberglas Bathtub..same can be done with Acrylic
What kind of breathing Mask are you wearing?
N95
What was the spray on paint remover you used?
Jasco brand.
I just moved into a new “renovated” apartment. Not even 2 weeks here and the tub liner is peeling
👍🏻👍🏻
Nice! I've only stripped one tub, lots of extra work. I definitely didn't budget it right.
How much extra time or money ($ or %) does stripping add? Thanks for posting.
I charge $95...$125 is still reasonable as well. Time wise about an extra 1 hour to 1.5.
Thanks!
@@DPTubs where are you located?
Hallo Dane
👍
Which area you serve ?
Las Vegas
@@DPTubs okay Thanks
Did the spray stuff remove the old grout as well?
no, you have to remove that with grout scrapers or blades for caulking, if not you'll get fisheyes in your topcoat.
You could have chopped some of the spraying scraping and sanding time off for a short of video. that music was kind of annoying. Don't wana B Negative Nancy but that's my opinion. someone else may have been afraid to bring it up thanks for the tips though
Some like to see the full extent of the work. Otherwise you may like to watch youtube shorts
@@DPTubs what do you acid wash that with and how do you prep it from the cleaning
I found it satisfying to see the stripping process. No short cuts taken.
@@DPTubs I wanted to see the full length, thanks.
curse the previous owner for doing this to me, why would you coat a surface constantly under water?
Because we are coating it with material that can be under water lol
@@DPTubs impossible. Nature always wins. Il take an ugly bathtub but that’s just me. Hope my daughter is cool with it when she gets older lol.
Just be careful sanding enameled tubs because they often have lead in them.
Glazing is a terrible idea. It starts chipping within 18 months. If you are lucky! In which case It would have looked better if you had never recoated. And just cleaned up the original worn tub surface
Thanks for sharing your opinion
My glazing lasted an unusually long 10 years!!! The trick is to wipe the tub/glazed surfaces dry after every shower or bath use. A pain, but it worked in my case. Most folks only get a year or two of attractive life from the glazing because they either don't know this or ignored it and left the tub constantly wet
@@Handygrrl great info
I can never why people paint their bathtub, 🛁 i purchase a condo and the bathtub is painted in soft white and they are peeling
Hi. great video. how do you scrape the four inside corners in the tub? they're too concave for blade. Thanks.
Yes I scrape everything off completely
