Both big powerful Tongans, who were sent to Japan to study Sumo and doing very well until the death of their stablemaster forced their retirement. Always interesting to hear other figures from the wrestling industry talk about them. Never a bad word!
Danny Hodge fell asleep and drove off a bridge, car flipped and landed in a river. With the car sinking, the wrestler held his broken neck in place with one hand and smashed the windshield out with the other, and then he swam to shore. Talk about tough, good Lord. In that circumstance, most men would've died at least twice.

Where does Harley Race say this? Why does it matter? Haku doesn't amount to much in the history of wrestling. Race does. Dusty does. Hogan does - even though he had no ability at all.

Thankfully, the best Haku story is that he's one of the most likable and friendly guys in the business. His coworkers all liked Haku not out of fear, but because they respected him for his demeanor, work ethic, and affable personality. Just imagine if he was an egotist who liked to go pick fights just so he could hurt people? Yikes!

That settles that. Thank you for posting; I think many fans wanted such a definitive answer...and Arn is right: it takes nothing away from Harley. Bobby Heenan in his book said that Andre the Giant stated that Haku and Harley Race were the two men he legitimately feared.
As Cornette stated, Harley would have flicked his cigarette at Haku and pulled out the gun he kept in his waistband and shot him. He never would have been stupid enough to fight Haku. 😂

I hate to disagree with a legend like Arn Anderson, but the correct answer to the question posed is "You don't put money on either one, you get the hell out of there as fast as you can, and get as far away from the epicenter of that blast as possible."
Back in 2008, Haku had a heart attack that would have killed a normal athlete. As his heart ceased, Haku just pounded his chest and burped and his heart formally apologize to him and immediately began beating as usual, forever living in fear inside his chest.

Stop making up stories. I've watched that interview too. Jake Roberts said that Earthquake was holding his own against Haku in a sumo match they had in the dressing room not a "backstage fight".

About a 100 Ibs heavier than Haku, and merely 'held his own' against Haku in a backstage wrestling match with rules. E.g: no srikes to the head, no kiicks, no biting etc. Now throw away the rule book. Earthquake gets beat up in a horrible way. Earthquake is super tough, super big and strong, but in a fight he has empathy for his fellow man. He would merely throw them across the room and be done with it.
Haku does not empathy in a fight, and has sick finishing moves and wider range of skills than Earthquake.

Ive heard many wrestlers from different eras different backgrounds etc and they all say the same thing about one man. Haku is someone you're better off just walking away from. Its always been common knowledge not to mess with wrestlers in actual fighting but to mess with that dude period..why!?

From what Ric Flair and Road Warrior Animal have said, Haku was tough when he was mad. Road Warrior Animal specifically stated that Haku “could turn it on because he wasn’t someone that could bench 800lbs. in the gym.” I think Haku, Mike Tyson and the early boxer John L. Sullivan had hypersensitive adrenaline glands that they could tap into very easily by rage. Kind of like the Incredible Hulk.

Yeah that's the thing, from the stories, Haku fought to end the fight as quickly as possible, and that sometimes involves parts of people's face being removed. That's a different level of fighting where almost nothing is off limits.
I don't know if Harley would go that far. Some people just have that switch where they go into a zone. Add to that his physical skills and toughness. Scary man to be on the wrong side of, but from what I've heard, the only people to really find out had it coming.

No one ever came close even to manhandling Andre with ease like that.

Warriors also the only man in history to have managed to body slam Andre at 550 pounds.
Other wrestlers have managed to body slam Andre in the ring.
But not at that weight.
Almost all other body slams Andre took from other wrestlers ?
Andre weighed much less.
And
Warrior also easily defeated earthquake big van Vader .
and Andre too.
All in less then a minute.
No one ever managed to do that against earthquake van Vader and Andre.
No one ever came close to dominating and destroying those three men like that.

He did it with ease.

If the dangerous haku hated the warrior then why was haku unable to defeat the warrior in a battle or one on one match even one time?
As these two did have a wrestling rivalry for a bit in wrestling.

When warrior was in his prime?
Haku had met his match..
Haku was unable to beat warrior .
And that’s the real reason haku went on record as saying he hated warrior.
Because haku knew warrior was one of the only men in professional wrestling who could legitimately beat him.
And this made haku jealous of warrior.

Haku and Harley may have been powerful and half if not crazy, but they don't have half the atheltic ability. From all the stories that are told, Tonga never went around actively trying to hurt anyone. They always forced his hand when he was quietly minding his own business. He probably spent some time behind bars but given it was in self-defense they let him go.

I have a hard time believing all the haku stories. Non of the victims have ever spoken up. Non of the cops have ever spoken up. Non of the witness from any of the incidences have ever spoken up, just other wrestlers, and we all know how they like too make shit up.

I don't understand the conversation. Wrestling is choreographed although in Race's era they didn't necessarily rehearse. Haku was nowhere near the talent Harley Race was at what they actually did for a living - which is why Race was 8 times NWA champ. As for who would win a real fight, we can only speculate. Fact is Race never trained the way Haku was trained so a better question might be what would have happened if Race had the same training. Odds are Haku would beat anyone who lacked his extensive training. A real test for Haku would have been Dan The Beast Severn.
