Hey, I loveeeee your reading vlogs so much. I just find them so relaxing and calming and they have really helped with my anxiety so thank you so much for that. I always have them playing while I'm reading, and it just feels like I'm reading with a friend and talking about books. I honestly can't put into words how much these videos have helped me. I also want to start reading more modern day kinds of fantasies, and I learned that urban fantasy and contemporary fantasy are two different genres so I thought I would just let you know the difference between them in case it helps you figure out which one you're in the mood for and helps you find books you're hopefully going to like easier. So urban fantasy tends to be books that have an 'underworld', like the Shadow hunters books by Cassandra Claire or Harry Potter, the fantasy/paranormal elements of the story are hidden so the world is split into the regular human non-magical world on the surface and then there is this whole shadowy secret magic society/world under the surface. So something like Crescent City isn't considered to be an urban fantasy. Contemporary fantasy on the other hand is basically any book set in the modern day time period but with fantasy/paranormal elements, so Crescent City would be considered a contemporary fantasy. I hope that's helpful, and makes it easier for you to find the kinds of books you're interested in easier -- it helped me realise that I'm more interested in contemporary fantasy rather than urban fantasy because I find the various ways writers come up with for how magic interacts with and changes our world fascinating, and that doesn't really happen in urban fantasy because the magic and fantastical elements are separate and secret from the regular world.
You're the reason I just bought Angels Blood, I saw it on your Goodreads and was like *gavel bang* 'sold' 😅😂 And as for other Urban Fantasy or even Paranormal Romance in an Urban Fantasy setting, I'd suggest: The Others series by Anne Bishop The Kate Daniel's series by Ilona Andrews (or her Hidden Legacy series) The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs Paranormalcy by Kiersten White The Darkest Powers trilogy by Kelley Armstrong The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J. R. Ward The Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter The Unearthly trilogy by Cynthia Hand There are more out there, I just think these are the ones worth giving a shot based on popularity within the genre☺
Wow. I am just floored at the reviews for The Ruined. I was invested in this series, too. Thanks for helping me dodge a bullet with that one. I looked up spoilers, so I know the key points. And Angel's Blood is on my IMMEDIATE tbr. 😁💜
I read Angels Blood series years ago and always thought it was such an underrated series, I’m ecstatic that it’s finally getting the hype it deserves. I agree with you that she should recover the books and re-release them.
I need to read Angel’s Blood now! Also, a good urban fantasy recommendation is Aileen Travers by T. A. White (all her books are amazing, but that one is specifically urban fantasy). Also, I think my favourite book so far in Romantasyathon is either Swordheart or Fate’s Edge by Ilona Andrews ☺️
The October Daye series by Seanan McGuire, The Jane Yellowrock series and Soulwood series by Faith Hunter, The Greywalker series by Kat Richardson, Yasmine Galenorn (literally anything she writes), Shannon Mayer (literally anything she writes), The black dagger brotherhood series by J R Ward, The weather wardens series by Rachel Caine, The Allie Beckstrom series by Devon Monk, The Fever series by Karen Moning, The Dresden files by Jim Butcher, The Alex Craft series by Kalayna Price, Fairy tales of a trailer park queen series by Kimbra Swain. Pretty sure i'm forgetting soooooooo many others! but Urban Fantasy is my FAVORITE to read.
paranormal Urban fantasy series you may enjoy is the Riley Jenson series by Keri Arthur it is an older series first book was published in 2006 and they are 9 books in the series its been awhile since I read them but I remember loving them as I read them and the spin off series Dark Angles which has 7 books.
There is an urban fantasy series with vampires by Tanya Huff called the Blood series, first book is Blood Price. Blood Ties was the TV series based on these books. Loved both back in the day, would be great to reread/rewatch those. 🥰
Have you read Moon Called yet? That’s a great urban fantasy. Basically anything listed as paranormal fantasy will be urban and there are sooooooooo many good ones!
In my opinion the series only gets better and better in the main story about Raphael and Elena, but also some of the books about the seven are sooo good 💕💕👌👌❤❤
Oooh I have the first three books of the Nalini Singh series and am looking forward to starting that series once I finish my currently ongoing urban fantasy series (The Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter) since both series are both super long.
I'm definitely moving Angel's blood up my tbr now because it sounds absolutely amazing. Also it's interesting that Renee` Adieth decided to make Celine a villain. Like why did she do that?
I second this recommendation! Anything by Ilona Andrews. The first book in the Kate Daniels series was not my favorite but it gets better and better as you go.

Def adding spindles and thorns to the tbr!
It’s a good shorty book! For our strategy of mixing short and longer books
Adding Angels Blood to my tbr immediately
For urban fantasy I really enjoyed the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning
I read Angels Blood series years ago and always thought it was such an underrated series, I’m ecstatic that it’s finally getting the hype it deserves. I agree with you that she should recover the books and re-release them.
So underrated! It feels like more people are picking them up this summer!
