Inspired by watching boring Transformers action figure reviews, the ShartimusPrime youtube channel was launched in 2008. Engaging the audience with an edgy sense of humor for adult collectors, action figure collecting has never been this fun, and videos are posted daily! Unexpectedly, the channel became more popular for Marvel Legends reviews and Spider-Man, Avengers, and X-Men collection display videos. After a few years, the channel has branched out to review other figure properties aside from Marvel Legends and G1 Transformers Masterpiece. Hot Toys, Star Wars, Diamond Select Toys, DC Collectibles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, Godzilla, Evil Dead, and The Walking Dead toy lines have all been added to the roster of nearly 2,000 video reviews. Japanese import figures from SH Figuarts, Bandai, Figma, Square Enix, and Medicom MAFEX have been favorites as well. More recently, Kotobukiya Statues (including the very sexy Bishoujo line) and NECA Toys have become more prevalent on the channel. Being a big fan of movies such as Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers, Evil Dead, Pacific Rim, Aliens, and other films has lead the channel in the direction of also reviewing movies, movie trailers, blu ray releases, and tv shows. News updates for 2016 releases and beyond are also posted. Audience engagement is a big part of this channel, with giveaways and fan mail being read publicly once a week in the PO Box Pick-Up videos. Impressive “Shart-Art” is shared via social media and included in the opening theme song. The audience is also kept up to date with any changes to the channel, along with recent comic book pick-ups, unboxings, and action figure hauls. Stop-motion segments punishing the popular meme of the Big Time Let Down Spider-Man close most of the comparison segments, and are compiled together for guaranteed access to patrons. Lastly, all figure reviews close with a slideshow featuring dynamic poses of the figure inspired by ACBA, with the added bonus of music performed and recorded by ShartimusPrime himself.

Funnily, I'm very pleased they changed it. I'd rather have more variety in hand types since it gives you more "expressions" you can do. I think double thwipping was a must (and thankfully I believe they've done that with all three) but otherwise I'm glad we got more variety.

@@RuinaLux I see your point, but I find non-matching hands quite irritating. I mean, from a certain point of view they limit your poses: for example, on the PS5 Spidey you only have one twipping hand. Thank God here they gave us two, but I still see it as a downer

@@FREKKII'd say since 2006, since they took over from ToyBiz. The first thing they did with Spider-Man after acquiring the toy rights was repaint a bunch of ToyBiz figures. They have never *really* cared about Marvel figures

Pretty sure Hasbro didn't include the unmasked heads because Andrew has some weird likeness rights issues. That's why every company is releasing Andrew's unmasked heads under TASM2 (this new Marvel Legend, Hot Toys, etc..). The 3-pack was marketed under NWH, so it would've been odd to have Tom and Tobey with unmasked heads and Andrew to not have one, so just better to not include heads with any of em
If that's the case, just don't do a 3-pack then.
Yes I remember they did mention at the time of the three pack they couldn’t get the rights in time for Andrew. They mentioned that during the livestream of these reveals 👍🏼
Yeah, Sony in general is just really fucky with the rules, I mean the Doc Ock is under the Spider-Man 2 banner and Andrew is under the Amazing Spider-Man 2 banner, but everything else is under the No Way Home banner. I think Hasbro genuinely was running into issues with the licenses for the faces, and it wasn't just them being greedy.
@@sammysstopmotionoas2004I’m sure that’s partially true, but they really shouldn’t have made it a three pack of that was the issue, nothing was forcing Hasbro into making it a three pack. And the fact some accessories like hands and webs are exclusive to the three pack and aren’t in the carded releases comes off as greedy and really rubs me the wrong way.
I have both the SHF and Hasbro Tobey and without a doubt SHF is better. But with Hasbro's i'm more inclined to mess with it as it's not so expensive and the plastic is more play friendly imo. My Hasbro Tobey actually has pretty good web lines. They're not the accurate color, but the lines themselves are nice enough. Still weird to me how the Andrew/Tobey figures have 1 less set of hands than the Tom one's.
Completely agree with this I have the three pack and all the shf spider-men and even though I like the shf a lot more the ones I play with are the hasbro ones because I don’t wanna break my fancy figs lol. Either way I’m happy with what we got although Tobeys proportions on hasbros end is the one thing I find odd. Still a fun figure to pose.

A very slight difference I haven't seen people mention is the fact that the new figure actually has a black spider and lenses. The version from the 3 pack uses a very dark gray. I don't know which is more accurate but hey, options.
The eye frames are black while the spider symbol is the same as the webs, maybe a tad bit darker, not sure. That's how it was in the film.
So with the eye frames, this one is more accurate while with the spider symbol it's the 3-pack one.

Yup! Though the SHF got the colors correct. Maybe the reds could be brighter & blue darker but still.
Incorrect. The suits in the trilogy films had gunmetal gray lenses and black chest spiders. In NWH the lenses were made black@@SpideyFan2002

I am glad I passed up on the three pack and got these instead.
I’m just so disappointed with the quality of this figure. The red texture is inaccurate, the web painting is extremely sloppy, and the sculpt is just awful. 0 definition or shading in the legs and that mask looks even worse than it did in NWH. Hasbro is clearly capable of amazing quality, as the green goblin, doc ock, and Andrew Garfield figures are fantastic in this wave. Tobey keeps getting the short end of the stick
He has zero muscle definition and he just looks like some guy wearing a cheap costume, especially with that godawful paint job. The silver looks so cheap.
I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking about the villains cures. I think that should've been included with each villain... except maybe Doc Ock. Not sure if I'd want the little, tiny chip for the tentacles... but you know what I mean
Tobey is my Spider-Man! He was the closest thing to the Dave Micheline and Sal Buschema Spider-Man that i grew up with!
The problem with this figure, is the same with the 3 pack one; the lack of boot rotation and or ball hinge and swivel at the foot like the Netflix Daredevil so he can get into better Spidey poses.
Unfortunately I have to only give this figure a SUD rating of... I LOVE IT!
In your lighting the new head sculpt looks to have some of the Spider-Man 3 'emo' shadow around the eyes. Makes me want a Raimiverse symbiote suit ML even more. But I may just impulse buy this since I skipped the 3-pack and it just looks like a fun figure overall.
I almost bought the original 3-pack, but I’ve been collecting long enough to know Hasbro would release versions with the actor head sculpts. Looking forward to these.

We get a Tobey head, a slightly noticeable darker red, a more accurate silver webbing- my only complaint is the lack of hands
I personally can't wait to get all three of these movie Spider- Man Marvel Legends especially the Toby Maguire Spider-Man. The reason for why I am so excited to get the figure is he is my personal favorite he is the one I grew up watching while also seeing the reruns of the 90's animated Spider- Man cartoon. Those two things made me the Marvel fan I am today. I can understand the frustrating that collectors have who have already brought the three pack, but because I did not I am glad to get a opportunity to get the figure. Enjoy the video.
For the price you pay its a great figure and it will the figure to get for all to those unable to get the previous 3 pack version.

The figure is well detailed but we are missing the left fist like they promoted on the internet.
I have the 3-pack so passing on this, hopefully the Garfield and Maquire heads will be re-used for street clothes variants down the road.

The theory on why they didn’t do the unmasked head in the 3 pack is because they couldn’t do the Andrew one with them due to some weird licensing, that’s why his figure is labeled ASM2 just like the new Hot Toys one and why I think it was MAFEX or was it SH Figuarts that canceled the Andrew head
Hoping the final swing suit will undergo different poses, especially on crouching pose🤧🥺
It was pretty much a dick move on Hasbro overall.
The 3pack with no Peter heads was because they have the molds done but probably my guess is they havent' gotten the actor likeliness approval yet so they released the Spidermen plus a repaint of the Tom Holland Spidey just to get some money out of some impatient suckers.
And once the Peter heads are all done, they throw in the end scene costume for Tom's version. And somehow it's like someone from Mattel moved to Hasbro with the "Gotta piss off the fans" motif and have the spiderman repacked with the Peter head but less hands, bare bone accessories.
Because just like back in the old Mattel DC days, this is "Good enough". DOn't need to try too hard.

Hey shartimus, I want to ask is this an only US release because I can't find it anywhere in my area
just to compare the unmasked heads, i heavily prefer the ML head over Shf. i have always thought tamashii has been terrible at making 'real' people, sometimes the sculpt is pretty close but they always find a way to make them look muddy and gross, specifically with the paint/face printing. the ML head, while not entirely accurate to NWH, is just so much cleaner that it's difficult for me to not prefer it, it doesn't look like melted wax like the shf one does.
I think they released them separately because they couldn’t get andrews licensing for no way home but they already had it for tasm 2 so they could release him as a tasm 2 figure separately idk

Hasbro definitely played us. I don’t give a 💩what they say later. I already know the one bs excuse they’ll go with. Andrew. But if that was a problem, they could’ve waited and just gave us the three Peters in the wave. With all the hands. Instead of this. I’ve been so on the fence that I purchased and cancelled my tobey and Andrew three times. But now I’ve decided to just grab them cause I’m not payin 40+ for them on eBay. And plus Tobey’s been my guy since 7 years old. And Andrew grew on me a lot. Tom is the only one I don’t care about getting
The Tobey head sculpt just doesn’t look very good to me which is sad because he’s still my favorite Spider-Man. Hasbro perfectly nailed Andrew’s likeness, but I think Tobey was a complete miss. Some people are saying the same about the Charlie Cox Matt Murdock figure, but I think that one is much more accurate than the Tobey head sculpt. It’s sad too because I don’t really imagine us getting Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man again unless they eventually make the symbiote version from Spider-Man 3 which I would definitely buy
Look the only thing that bothers me is that he didn’t come with two wall crawling and fisted hands. But I’m just so happy that I’m gonna be owing a Tobey figure, it’s like reliving my childhood all over again. I used to have all the movie toys and I’m so angry at myself that I lost or didn’t keep them

Well im happy with the figure . The head sculpt especially . No nit picking from me. Hes fun to Play with even if there was a three pack . To me toby Maguire is still the best live Spiderman actor .
Hasbro not including the complete 3 pairs of hands is clearly a deliberate decision (just like them not including Peter heads in the 3 pack), that way you still have to buy/own both releases to have the complete accesories. Typical Hasbro corporate bullshiz lol

A bitter purchase, hmm catchy! It does have a nice ring to it. Hasbro is just cutting corners on accessories, I wish they wouldn’t cut corners and not milking us to buy the same figure. But Hasbro is just Hasbro, they literally dropped the ball on this particular release.

I wish they would do a Toby Spider-Man with black webs. The webs in the film were black rubber, looked silver when they reflected light.
They weren't black tho, the inner side of the webs was painted black but the outside face was a dark silver
I have seen behind the scenes footage where the costume designer shows the materials the suit was made of, it’s black. I don’t know why so many people think it’s silver.

Spider-Man fan but never got into the Tobey Spider-Man or Kirsten Dunst MJ. Neither of them sufficiently portrayed the version of the characters I grew up with in the comics. So I have zero attachment to this fig (which makes my wallet happy).
I only had one nitpick with him.... Once I say it... It can't be ignored.

🤷🏽♂️ can't you just use the three pack hands on there? And this us a subset line, its not the main line Marvel Legends. The selling point is the blister card, not the accessories or a BAF. With these blister cards sets there's never been accessories or BAF parts.
Im not getting theses i dont like displaying heroes with out the masks, but only on the pizza Spidey i wanted an unmask Spider-Man to go with my MJ. ill be getting the three pack Spider-Man.
