For me, the upcoming Amazing Friends 3-pack Spidey is the perfect Spider-Man figure. The smaller size of the First Appearance mold + the bright red and blue colors = perfection

@@broodingsoap9469 have it your way pal, it depends on your taste, if you collect X-men and Spidey you can get 2 good figs, and if you're a casual, then that starfire won''t be bad
I've seen a lot of people on Instagram liking the Amazing Fantasy version better than the renew your vows, and I get it the articulation is so easy to manipulate but for me the classic red and blue is superior in aesthetics
Peter has an average height (1.75 -1.80) while other heroes are considerably taller and more buffed so Amazing Fantasy scales pretty well considering that.
I really like the sculpt on the FA one, to be honest. I know some artists draw Spidey as being very muscular but I think a lankier, less "sculpted" body works well for him. Side note, I also love what Hasbro did for the Japanese Spiderman. He literally looks like a person who went to a con with a home made spider suit LOLOL
To me the amazing fantasy Spider-Man is easily the best pick. Proportions for him are a lot better than renew your vows and it’s not even close. Comes with a lot more accessories too. Yeah the Peter head is great but not enough to justify the cost, imo. Articulation could go either way honestly but considered amazing fantasy looks so much better I think it’s easy to see which is the better figure. Lastly most people probably didn’t want to get a spineret figure in the first place so that is a big problem with renew your vows too. @@dingleberry333 damn, so it’s costs more than the 2-pack? That’s crazy. Yeah at that point it is just better to get the RYV instead since it at least comes with 2 figures. Over $60 for a marvel legends just ain’t acceptable.

The FA Spidey takes the cake for me, all the way. When I grew up reading the early 00s Spidey, the blue of his costume was a darker shade, black at times, so that's what I've always preferred.
I like having them both for what they are individually. They are of different stages of Spider-Man's life. The Vows one reminds me of a cross between Mark Bagley's and J Scott Campbell's art styles.

Love your videos! My only gripe with the renew your vows is the same old double ball peg for the head and neck. But I love the figure and he's my definitive Spider-Man now
The only possible error in the figure maybe. By posing the amazing fantasy i can tell the disc articulation on the neck is way superior, can't understand why hasbro didn't go with it also on the RY vows. Still an amazing figure tho.

Both certainly have their place, really depends on what era you're wanting him for but it's first appearance for me. I actually prefer the shorter, less toned mold as it makes him feel more like a high schooler than the 'adult Spidey' of RYV (and most Spidey releases). Plus I'm intending on posing him with the retro Spidey villain releases for more of a Silver Age vibe. I would have loved to see how the two compare in some of the weird Ditko-era poses but great review vid!
Yeah, I always prefer Spidey figures to be a little on the smaller side since it’s his speed and agility that give him his power more than pure physical strength. Like yeah he’s definitely very strong too, but I like having him be a little smaller than a classic superhero cause it really gives that “spider” vibe
Both are good depending on preference: (1) The First Appearance Spidey is a "classic" for those who grew up with this mold. I can use this for the Spidey and Amazing Friends theme. (2) I still prefer the Renew your Views mold because of the 90s Spidey that I had more memories (New Warriors and Maximum Carnage storyline)
To me, 4 point crouching pose is a make or break for spidey so Im going with AF. If it cant 4 point crouch, the body mold is not worth to be a spiderman. Btw Shartimus, bend the lower knee first b4 bending the upper knee joint to get that deep crouch on AF. Get that heel-to-butt as close as possible.
Body mold wise, I think fantasy is better because he has muscle but the suit isn't so tight that you can just see all of it unlike the Renew you vows one plus it looks a little slimmer which is what I prefer in a Spidey. Paint wise Renew your vows bc I prefer the bright blue and those logos
For myself, personally I like the AF Spidey( I don’t own it), but it’s a look that doesn’t really fit what I collect or look for when I think of Spidey. It’s kinda like I’ll get in celebration of his 60th, but RYV Spidey is by far my definitive Spidey for now.

And I think to everyone a classic Spider-Man does not have them. And if you’re not going to use them on the AF figure seems you’re left with these holes. That’s a shame since it looks so good with pin-less joints. Strike 2. Bottom line I think AF is a great representation to have in your collection for first appearance, but if you’re looking for a good all-around Spider-Man to have I think the edge goes to RYV.
the amazing fantasy buck is perfect imo, its shorter and has the better articulation to me, only thing it needs is the toe articulation, if someone can repaint and swap the feet thatd be cool
Swapping the first appearance head onto the renew your vows body is the perfect Spidey figure imo. I also customized the R.Y.V. body to get better ab-crunch, but if you don't wanna do allat, then the Amazing Friends 3-pack Spidey is a close second.
I don’t feel like you went into this objectively. It felt more like you were trying to win an argument on why you think the “Renew Your Vows” Spidey is better. I don’t have either figure, and have no skin in this game, but just based on how they look in all of the different poses, I think the first appearance looks better. There’s something about the upper body and neck on the RYV Spidey that look off. The neck is too long and the shoulders don’t look natural.

I hate the ditko small eyes on my spidermans but I love the wall crawling poses for this figure. In fact, that will most likely stay in a crawling/ crouching stance. Love them both equally now for completely different reasons
I like the RYV. I dislike the chest spider logo on AF, and the peg holes in the arms…. I also don’t like that RYV has a tough time looking up. Some who really like the AF are taking the lower legs of RYV and putting them on AF for their ultimate version.

Both figures are great! But I agree I think the Renew your vows is one of the best Spider-Man figures of all time!!
Spidey definitely needs a separate neck joint.
I got both & probably will get more. I even have 1 of the O.G. Ones on card from the 70s. Figures 8’’ & wearing cloth
I have them both and love them both and i get ur struggle to choose🤣
Amazing Fantasy won for me. Sold my Renew Your Vows Spidey. Just love that OG look first appearance has. Makes me feel like a kid again.
First Appearance is way better in the definitive body shape. Needs for sure more engineering on his articulation but way better ML spiderman for me. Good review Shart.
I’m getting Ryv to have a classic red and blue spidey in my collection and I love the Peter Parker head
I like the amazing fantasy marvel legends spider man more 😎
great video format, would love to see more from you like this
Has anyone noticed that the amazing fantasy solicitation showed two web lines, and even when shartimus got his preview figure it had two web lines. But now it’s hit stores it only has one web line?
I love this video style, the in depth comparison videos
The renew your vows head, especially the web pattern, is abysmal
My Symbiote Suit Spider-Man has been on pre-order on BBTS for almost a year now. They claim it’s because of COVID.
Good review my guy. Tough call, I like both and having fun with both :)
I got the amazing fantasy for free and it's my favorite marvel legend, I don't have a lot of the new 60th anniversary stuff tho..
(Thank you shartimus for telling me about the giveaway)
I just got the Target reissue of 1st appearance spiderman. I had the RYV spiderman already and loved it! I'm really surprised with how much I love this 1st app. Spidey! I hate the ditko small eyes on my spidermans but I love the wall crawling poses for this figure. In fact, that will most likely stay in a crawling/ crouching stance. Love them both equally now for completely different reasons
I kitbashed my FA Spidey with the ToyBiz FA Spidey wings. It looks way better.
I like the RYV. I dislike the chest spider logo on AF, and the peg holes in the arms…. I also don’t like that RYV has a tough time looking up. Some who really like the AF are taking the lower legs of RYV and putting them on AF for their ultimate version.
3-2. First appearance wins it for me
putting the RYV feet on the AF15 makes it the better figure
