This was 2009 & the first sis said they really need renovations. I went from 2013-2017 & we STILL needed those SAME renovations, smh. I adore my Alma Mater! No regrets! But one thing I hate, is that it's faarrrr too hard to get things changed at Howard. The Administration resists student complaints & arguments so hard. But the staff stands with the students & knows we're right. It's really wild. But like the first & 2nd girl said, I definitely learned to stand on my feet, watched my confidence grow, found my sense of style, opened up more, & got to learn so much more about my people & the world as we fit into it. This place is a blessing though it comes with many frustrations & resistance that the students don't deserve. I definitely recommend HU & an HBCU experience for those of the Black Disapora 🥰💙♥️💙♥️🥰 HHHHUUUUUU!!!!
Wow!!!! Helped me alot, Im a junior in highschool considering colleges with a dynamic Drama department! Howard is amazing! I cant tell you how, resourceful this was!! Thanx!!!!!!!!!
I was accepted at Howard University and had to defend my choice of going to an HBCU to some of my unenlightened peers. Thank you for putting a positive message out there about the importance of knowledge of self and how one fits into the fabric of the world. I look forward to attending in the Fall!!!!!!
thats not alot of snow u might have to get used to the cold though. But in DC either we get all the snow or we get no snow. what u see is a dusting. we havent had more than 3 inches of snow for a good 3 years.
Howard is the MECCA! I can attest! This university is the best choice for African American students.. the resources, the culture , the education is priceless.. It is one of the most prestigious universities and has an INSANE network.. Definitely a great place to be!
@JanetFanForever sameeee! i'll be a sophomore too and i just cant seem to stop stalking howard lol. like my little obsession with howard is getting out of control. i like literally cry REAL tears every time i think about how i basically still have three more years before i even reach college. i just wanna skip the next three years, pack my bags, and hop on a damn train already. the vibe howard gives off in their hu reaction videos is just so unexplainable and sooo me. ohh lawddd. i just love it!
It has great academics and a fairly decent social scene although it's obviously not DC. Either way u go u will definitely be in a great position for medical school. My parent's are physicians and have sat on UCLA med admissions board and say they that graduates from both institutions are highly sought after. Hope this helps. Good luck
@ChelseaSJ1234 you should definately go to howard! :) i was gonna apply to hampton but after visiting howards campus i fell in love with it and none of the rest of it mattered :) what would be ur major?
Im only a freshman in highschool and i alreadyyyyyy have my freakin heart set on Howard. Idk.. something about it seems so right. My dad wants me to start looking at colleges as early as i can so hopefully we'll pay My beloved howard a little visit this summer!! Sooooo excited:)
Honestly... you'll be treated just fine... the same as everyone else. In general black people are very hospitable, so you definitely won't be treated badly. As someone else mentioned, as long as your open-minded and able/willing to learn and embrace new things... Howard would be a great place for you, as well as anyone else! Howard has quiet a few non-black students!
For all of you people who thinks that Howard and Spellman are black universities, you are sadly mistaken. All of the "so called" universities are owned by Rockerfeller. You can look it up. Rockerfellers mother in law name is Spellman, Howard is the same thing. Students of "black" universities are owned by Rockerfeller.
@NanGJizzle Same Here! Going To Be A Sophomore When School Starts Back And I've Been Obsessed With Researching Information About Howard. It Really Seems Like An Amazing School To Attend. My Mom Would ALWAYS Talk To Me Or Say Things About Howard Wanting Me To Go There But I Never Really Paid Attention. My Mind Was Set On Spelman Like Two Years Ago But Now....Howard Definitely Has My Heart AND Mind. ;D
Howard University just offered a spot to a young Burmese student whose education I've been sponsoring over here in Thailand. I love you, Howard! Thank you for giving Nan an opportunity to join your amazing community. Go Bison!
Would love to attend Howard this year, I got accepted but I can't attend due to the ridiculously high cost after scholarships and grants. the cost for one year was 48,0000 but before that it was 57,400. it hurts not to go but I'd be more in pain to have that much debt from the loans. still sucks tho.
i am applying to this school and others and i was wondering if color is one of the leading factors as to why one would choose a school like this. and for some thats the main reason and for me well lets just say for one who goes to a school that has a dominate black population its not all to good not to say its cause of there color, its what kind of people they are and that what some forget to put into a decision is who they who are and not what they are
whats your point?I think room and board is about 10,000 , and since freshman are required to live on campus ,its still money I have to pay. either way its a lot of money.
It's a good school and students especially ones of color are fairly cohesive. I'm pre-med myself and they offer programs to assist minority students interested in health-related fields. Also the University of Pittsburgh has a very rich history in terms of African Americans and their contributions to it. For a PWI its very accommodating to black students. If u don't necessarily mind bigger classes then Pitt is fine. Pitt is the type of school that u get out of it what u put in.
@jorbarcar If you noticed, the phrase "acting racist" was in quotation marks. I was referring to the comment to which I was replying. Even still though, out of interest, I'd be interested in arguing your point, but it's not that serious.
I did not attend a historically black college and I'm black however where ever you go, be it an HBC, UC or a state college. Make the best of your education and learn something, become well rounded. Make the best of your education while you're in college, don't just go to college and get the degree, make the best of it.
watching this makes me kinda regret not going to a HBCU....i applied to a few but my dad was pushing it so much (he graduated from Alabama A&M) it got on my nerves so yea...i dont think i woulda gone to Howard (too close to home lol) but defintly wish i had looked into the HBCU option more...
Howard is #2 under Spelman. But Drew hall(male freshman dorm) and half of the Quad(female freshman dorms) dont have A/C. The administration can be pretty lazy but usually if you're not bitchin wit them your stuff will be takin care of. Just stay on your shit and make extra copies of everything. Hopefully you will be able come to Howard and enjoy the stuff which makes us love the schoo and not hate it
Howard has amazing events and Networking opportunities....There are too many HU students pretending to be all about black power when they truly have self hate issues like the girl at the end. I'm 1st generation American. My family is Jamaican/Guyanese. I don't understand the mindset of some Black Americans. It's either they want to separate themselves from being labeled as ghetto or they are extremely ghetto and uneducated because they don't want to be "white." Why?
@NanGJizzle me too!!! im a freshman in highschool and im DEFINATLY GOING TO THIS COLLEGE!!! my dad and mom also want me to look at colleges and this is the one for me. PERIOD. sooo mabey we may end up as roomates lol :)
If you are not a Bison, please do NOT try to assume that you know the ins and outs of MY prestigious university. Howard University is a historical institute founded upon principles that students still strive to uphold today. We are the epicenter of black empowerment and education. And please get the facts straight, Howard University is HISTORICALLY BLACK not ALL BLACK; and as for the students, please believe, we're all about OUR business, Bison business.
This vid was rlly helpful. I'm interested in relocating frm CA, but I'm still a lil' skeptical. I knw it wud be rlly gud for me, and I knw I'd get a gud education. I just don't knw where I'd live and/or how I'd pay for it. I did my undergrad in child development & africana studies. I am a McNair Scholar, and I want to get my MSW and then DSW. HU has both programs. I'd like to come Fall 2010, but I'm just nervous. I don't knw any1 out there, but I wud like to visit the end of january 2010 :)
@tarzandekat HU isn't only black, it a Historical Black University, founded when whites were "acting racist" and African Americans weren't allowed in the same classrooms as the White majority. That being said, it is majority black, but we have students from all ethnicities and from all of the world. Much like (what I assume to be your) majority (white) schools. I would suggest you educate yourself.
@Thedarksecret1 i dont go to howard probably will never get a chance to do to money problems and grades i was just trying that they are a good school and there are alot of hbcu's with a good reputation
@HumongousJohnson heyheyheyyyyy. dont discourage me. that may be true. actually you're probably right. yet my dad graduated from norfolk state, another all black school. it may not be as huge or as popular as howard yet it still is a black school. he's had zero problems struggling to find a job. i feel like there's so many schools out there that are just so lifeless and boring. i want to go to a school that i'm gonna enjoy so if being looked down upon is gonna be a risk, then so be it..
@MsJadicoam wooooooooooo! srry im all late lol. wouldnt that be awesome?!!! Three more years and we in thereeeeee! see ya then!:) i get so excited talking about Howard, it's ridiculous.
@HumongousJohnson Or maybe they go there because, like most people black and white, they feel more comfortable around their own kind than other groups. Is it racism that motivates the vast majority of whites to socialize with and marry each other as opposed to other ethnic groups? Of course not, its called familiarity. Also a lot of black people get tired of being prejudged by people like yourself. They want a chance to walk in a room as a tabula rasa, and howard offers them that.
@HumongousJohnson also, good very extensive examination of causes of racial inequality in Categorically Unequal by Douglas Massey (and yes i accept that it is normal to be way less motivated by random youtube conversations than is necessary to read a whole book, but now i've swung to the other end of the supported argument scale)
HOWARD UNIVERSITY IS STILL THE BEST SCHOOL AROUND I KNOW PEOPLE WHO WENT THERE IN THE 80s AND 90s I THINK THE STUDENTS NOW ARE MORE DOWN TO EARTH BACK IN THE DAYS FASHION WAS THE THING ON HOWARD CAMPUS EVERYONE WAS IN TO LOUIS VUITTON AND GUCCI BAGS ECT. PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY SHOUTOUT!!! i live in lame as georgia but im comin back up to go to howard! cant wait!
@molinastephen you can go to ANY historical black college... because it's called a historical black college not a "all" black college : )

According to College Board, the annual cost is $37,743... not $48,000
also Norfolk State University is also another good college to look at it is in Norfolk Va..
im a junior in high school.and i wanted to go Howard, but now i really want to go, this video only inspired me more.
i got accepted at howard class of 2015 and after seeing this video im sooo excited to go! :)
u dont have to use college after hbcu
Howard University just offered a spot to a young Burmese student whose education I've been sponsoring over here in Thailand. I love you, Howard! Thank you for giving Nan an opportunity to join your amazing community. Go Bison!
planning on transferring to HU from a PWI. All my family went to HBCUs and now, even though I'm kinda late, I know that Howard is the place 4 me.

@Zavier868 No i live in chicago im goin in june. did u go?
I'm considering Howard but I'm from the LA area and I'm not sure if the neighborhood is safe.
Crime rate is just as bad as any other major city. As long as you're smart about where you are at what times you'll be fine
whats your point?I think room and board is about 10,000 , and since freshman are required to live on campus ,its still money I have to pay.
either way its a lot of money.
There are a lot of wonderful people at Howard. Type in "Through the Doors of Howard" in the SEARCH box up top and watch the first video that comes up.
It's a good school and students especially ones of color are fairly cohesive. I'm pre-med myself and they offer programs to assist minority students interested in health-related fields. @Thedarksecret1 dude some of them have good reputations and dont you know howard university is known as the black harvard.
@RiahJ Agree. It isn't that serious. But I still think they weren't "acting racist", they were racist.
I would go to Howard but they dont have a baseball team
We got to! Its SO Eastcoast heavy/biased out here!
whats your nationality?
@Thedarksecret1 i dont go to howard probably will never get a chance to do to money problems and grades i was just trying that they are a good school and there are alot of hbcu's with a good reputation
Im a Junior 2 and I really want to go there also!!!
my relative applied to howard in April and received her acceptance letter in October. By that time, she was already enrolled at another school. SMDH
@DanMorgan98 How can you say that when you didn't go there? You obviously did not, because if you did you wouldn't have made that statement.
@HumongousJohnson heyheyheyyyyy. dont discourage me.
that may be true. actually you're probably right.
yet my dad graduated from norfolk state, another all black school. it may not be as huge or as popular as howard yet it still is a black school. he's had zero problems struggling to find a job.
i feel like there's so many schools out there that are just so lifeless and boring. i want to go to a school that i'm gonna enjoy so if being looked down upon is gonna be a risk, then so be it..
they have lots of full scholarships.
yeah. I'm gonna be a sophomore next year
@TheAffluentone Right on. I concur.
University of Pittsburgh. U?
male or female
I really wanted to come to howard but it was sooo expensive :( I had to stay here in atlanta at gsu *sigh*
@MsJadicoam wooooooooooo! srry im all late lol. wouldnt that be awesome?!!! Three more years and we in thereeeeee! see ya then!:)
i get so excited talking about Howard, it's ridiculous.
A month before deadline... They lost my transcript twice -__-
I'm so excited to attend howard in the fall !!! C/o 2016 :))))))
@HumongousJohnson
Or maybe they go there because, like most people black and white, they feel more comfortable around their own kind than other groups. The last guy and last girl were the most persuasive!
Film major. I love her
You have to admit that Howard, Spelman, and Morehouse are much better than other HBCUs....
@HumongousJohnson
also, good very extensive examination of causes of racial inequality in Categorically Unequal by Douglas Massey (and yes i accept that it is normal to be way less motivated by random youtube conversations than is necessary to read a whole book, but now i've swung to the other end of the supported argument scale)
You are only half right. Stats show that men perform better than women, it's just that more females are in school
@Zavier868 awww congratulations!! :)
@ChelseaSJ1234 I got accepted to the School of Communications for a major in Journalism and I want to minor in Public Relations :)
I WANA GO HERE!
they lost my transcripts a month after the deadline and i had already applied -___- had me so scared,but i got accepted ,so i guess im not mad.
I'm stressed. I applied and haven't heard a thing, at all. :/ C/o 2016
@nocturnalpianist i sureeeee hope so
I can tell you're happier just because you thanked me. :) You're welcome. God Bless.

HAs anyone been accepted in to Doctrate Programs? I really want to go to Howard but I want to know what it's like...email me.
Please do!!
british male(caucasian) or british male(african)
@onlybaby90 OK, thanks. That helps.
THIS IS JUST HOW IT USE TO BE IM NOW IN MY 40s AND I KNOW THIS IS OFF TOPIC BUT ANYWAY HAVE A BLESS FUTURE!
@Zavier868 Got mine yesterday!!!
UUUUMMP..I just saw snow..I forgot about that..I dont wanna go there anymore...LOL!
And bound to have the most rigid, boring lives, make the least real impact, and most likely to follow the pack. Oh, and don't forget serious lack of creative, independent thought.
And besides that, they rarely seem happy no matter how much money they make.
This is exactly what the world needs, more middle management bureaucratic drones.
i want to go to Howard son
I got offered admission into Howard's Doctorate of Physical therapy program but I am having a really difficult time trying to figure out if I should accept the offer or not. If you don't mind, may you share with me why you decided to attend?
@fireking9934
Low-self esteem is common amongst blacks. If they get an exaggerated sense of self-imortance it's due to superficial factors such as sports scholarships or entertainment en sheit!
omg i only have two choices as well hampton and howard this gives me soo much insight
There are some ignorant ass comments on here. People are people, no matter what race, we're all the same, it's just where we grew up and our environment that fills in these "sterotypes."
Is it really expensive to go here?
where can i find and apply to these full scholarships?
I'm already quiet. We aren't speaking. This is a computer. :)
I got accepted a couple of days ago. All I need now is that money! lol
