Hi! I’m a current highschool senior looking at Howard as one of my options. Can I be put in contact with your daughter so that I can receive some insight on her experience there ?
She is NOT saying she expects a college to be perfect. She is saying something much DEEPER. She is ultimately saying to FOLLOW YOUR GUT on first impressions & to always KNOW YOUR WORTH regarding experiences you choose for yourself.
Thank you for your video. You've helped me to open up to hearing both sides of Howard before financially committing to the institution. I feel as though some fear has lifted toward understanding why people leave the university. It creates an understanding that no where is complete perfection, everything has its balance of positive and negative for some people. Your video was like a tranquil goodbye to Howard and a sincere vibe, so thank you. I hope that your healing from this experience allows you a peaceful transition into your next institution.
Exactly! I have gone to Towson, University of MD, and different community colleges and I have never waited for anything. I got into Howard for Grad school and it has been a nightmare to the point where I had to have a zoom call with the dean of my program several times just to do a medical deferment. This is MONTHS after classes started since no one could give me a straight answer….. Then they tried to blame the problem on me. Now I’m being told that I’m not a student in that graduate program anymore even though the dean personally messaged me the ok to register. They told me I should prepare to not be able to take classes this upcoming semester because they don’t know if they can fix my account in time for the beginning of the semester. Howard is trash!
Dang… that’s really messed up. They know everyone is having at least one struggle dealing with this pandemic… they should have been more helpful. At the same time sometimes we have to Thank God for the delays because it means he’s preparing is for better. Wishing you all the best in your journey.

I know that people sometimes like to compare HBCU's to other schools but it's not a good comparison. My neighbors daughter was only at Howard one semester and dropped out. She has been very quiet about her reasons, really it could be anything. To me she was just so sad, so no reason to go back if she was not going to be happy. I think that Howard has a few things that need improvement. The Financial Aid office definitely struggles. A good portion of students are receiving financial aid and they need a bigger department, but that costs the students. I think not being vaccinated was a big problem for you getting classes. You could have taken basket weaving to keep your credits and then switched. Friends seem to be so hard to come by at HU. Maybe the school needs more administration involvement to ice break students. Great question, while I did get into Spelman and a few other HBCU's, it all came down to what was going to be most beneficial for me financially, geographically, and occupationally. At the time, even with doubts, Howard had the better deal and provided me the most opportunity initially.
Every institution has it own admin issues. Seem like you were ready for the challenge of college. Everything was difficult during the pandemic. Good luck to you.
Personally, I have never been to campus, but something like that does not seem like it would occur there. For the most part, there's a multitude of people of all different backgrounds, mostly focused on finishing out their degree, getting proper amenities for what they paid, and less on racial aspects.
So you're blaming the school for losing your scholarship? How it's it their fault you didn't have a chance to register for your classes. PWI have the same issue, they're several videos on her people saying the same thing about Ivy colleges and PWI. Fake friends are everywhere. But this is your opinion and your entitled to it. Everybody was either a " legacy," kid going because mom and dad were in frats or soro. Its in the ghetto. They still had him on roster as a student when he left to go another school after he had been in the new school for a while. Took forever with his finaid stuff. There's also this weird ritual they do for freshman and no cameras are allowed. I immediately thought of freemason and undercover demonic coverings but under the guise of a Morehouse welcoming ceremony. Yeah. Dont let these black schools fool you. I like those 73 questions videos. One common HBCU theme is complaints about administration and school facilities.
All colleges and universities have their negatives. There are a$$holes at conmunity colleges.
No excuse, especially with the cost you pay per year per student to go to these institutions.
How difficult is it to get into Howard? I want to go for film
I recommend finding something about you that stands out from the crowd, they love variety and diversity, and perfecting that craft. Besides that, being really studious and academically inclined definitely doesn't hurt.
@@raeonacashae Ok thank you so much! I appreciate it
Why did you attend with doubts? Why not Spellman College or a better HBCU
Great question, while I did get into Spelman and a few other HBCU's, it all came down to what was going to be most beneficial for me financially, geographically, and occupationally. At the time, even with doubts, Howard had the better deal and provided me the most opportunity initially.
Are there HSLU! Oh they go to PWI bc HSBU prob don’t accept outsiders!
I’m happy you moved on!
thank uuu
So Howard University is an uppity HBCU. Okay got it. According to you
It's really uppity and the campus doesn't match that mindset. My cousin dropped out too. It's like bougie and broke at the same time
is this howard law school ?
Hi! I actually went for journalism at their school for communications, but my experience was entirely online and remote.
Every institution has it own admin issues. Seem like you were ready for the challenge of college. Everything was difficult during the pandemic. Good luck to you.
Appreciate it! Thank you for watching!
Is any colorism there? Do they allegedly use the brown paper bag test,?
Personally, I have never been to campus, but something like that does not seem like it would occur there. For the most part, there's a multitude of people of all different backgrounds, mostly focused on finishing out their degree, getting proper amenities for what they paid, and less on racial aspects.
Brown paper bag😄😄 Really? I never even heard of that. I went to howard eons ago and met plenty of biracial/ half white blacks
There’s actually colorism against lighter skinned kids. A lot of xenophobia as well. Strange place
What?!!!
But you said it yourself you'll still be there if you were able to get the credits. So it wasn't that bad.
"Her people" what do you mean by that? 🤨 Don't try to discredit a person's experience, because everybody's tolerance and reactions are different. I said what I said in the video to give perspective on ONE person's experience, my own--take it as you may.
@@raeonacashae *on here. As stated "But this is your opinion and you're entitled to it". I wasn't discrediting anything...just stating my opinion as well.
Nah it’s bad
@@reet7060 mainly bc yall think life is SUPER easy. ALL schools have challenges.
@@yourstruly_777 wtf are you talking about? I said Jack shit about wanting the school’s curriculum to be easy. It’s actually easy af but the professors’ are all really lazy. Uploading syllabi 2 weeks after class starts, not showing up to their own office hours, purposefully avoiding emails, departments stealing money from students. You have to worry about everything BUT the curriculum at this hog wash school
I'm Confused How Can You Come To This Country Open Up A Day Care Got Fentinal A Baby Dies 3 Hospitalized What Kind Of Degrees Do they have
You seem to be confused about life. Grow up, you want life handed to you.
Worked for everything I have. How about let's make institutions take accountability to improve using the massive amounts of funding they receive. You're the problem in the community that keeps inhibiting mediocrity for the sake of a name 👎🏾
My nephew got into Texas Tech full paid except a few thousands to pay out of pocket. He waited to see if would get into Morehouse and he did. Honey when I tell you MOREHOUSE is such a fraud..🥹😒. He went through all he needed to start his freshman yr and 😮. His sports teammates were all druggies and weed smokers. They didn't have the types of coaches you are suppose to have for a football team. No investment into their sports.
Howard has been thst way for at least 20+ years. Its just never talked about. North Carolina A&T is the same cause I use to live near it and did Uber for the students and heard their stories.
Pray tell, because my daughter has NCAT & Spelman in her top 5, what have you heard?
