Thats beleivable until the part about the ghetto bird its been confirmed by rad rat video that reemo's stated hes only ever actually did that trick twice and only once on video
Skate Street Ventura is the reason I ended up getting paid to skateboard for years. Saw Kareem there too probably same day! Ali Boulala was there once too. I was starstruck and filmed him sw lip the big rail first try. Rick Mccrank was another unbelievable skater to see skate there. He instantly became my favorite skater.
That b/s 180 over the two trash cans at the beginning of his run has always been the mind fuck of his part. I remember seeing this vid when I was like 14 and to this day I haven't seen anybody bust a 180 over 2 from flat.
Same here. Some of the stuff that went down in these old videos are just mind boggling. Like, the shittiest setups, sketchiest landings, no lights, tiny ass wheels, it was a totally different time.
Remember when I was like 8 and saw him for the first time it just validated that black kids can skate and be cool I'm 23 and still skating till this day. Thx Kareem!!!
@@johndoeiii6103 hell yeah he does, I met him once, I was mad weird and awkward cuz I was 14, but he still took time to say what’s up at the demo. Are you fucking serious?!? Tom Penny is a fucking god compared to Kareem Campbell! I like Kareem, always have, but these two guys came up around the same time, in the 90s, but on different sides of the Atlantic. "Looked up" to him? More like mutual respect between two good skaters. Maybe you're young and you don't know who Tom Penny is, but if anybody should be looked up to, it's him. Think before you start spouting off like that again, boy!
kareem is the shit. Met him at a Wayout sk8 shop contest in Lincoln Nebraska in the early nineties. He was there doing a one man demo. After the comp during the product toss i look over to see kareem holding his board over his head saying "free board, free board". I walked over and was like "i'll take it?' He handed it to me and i thought he was joking so I handed it back to him and he was like "naw you can keep it!" I was sooo stoked! I was only in the 5th or 6th grade. I gave him a Tee this dude Elvo gave to me (elvo actually won the contest) and kareem kindly accepted it and asked ME to sign it! Shouts out to Wayout skateshop, Elvo, and Kareem, good memories...
Pros in the old days were dope. We were skating to a demo one day when a van pulls up and asks us if we want a ride to it. It was the Blind team. We hopped out of that van at the demo like GODS. Cut to a year or so later when they came back around and Ronnie Creager remembered us all by name. Probably the best memories of my childhood.
I wish the word 'style' would stop being used and strived for in skateboarding today. Yes, you want to be comfortable on your board and look like you know what you are doing. But aiming for 'style' is extremely juvenile and pointless. In a sense, it is like putting on an act to impress other people. Do your tricks, do them well and do them your own way. Instead of trying to look cool doing them, do them however your body allows you to do them.
@@draconianTL agree. I'd say it's one of the all time greatest kickflips, switch or regular. Keenan is in the top three best styles ever in my opinion.

Old school fat boards? This was the mid 90's, most of us were skating 7.75-8" decks. After 92 boards shrank. By end of 93 shops sold so many 7.5's that it was hard to find an 8-8.25. I'm not trying to correct you, just saying, and it was super easy to pop high with skinny boards and little wheels. Kareem still did it better than most though, of course.
I know this part is almost 20 years old(holy fuck that's a long time ago) but lol @ "those oldskool boards", the wheels back then were your normal 53-58 mms with boards usually around 7.5 to 7.85ish If anything the boards now are more "oldskool" because they're much wider than they were in the mid 90's
man people were skateing 8s and 8.5 in my scene and looked like it with a lot of the pros but i guess those small ass wheels can play tricks on your eyes, ether way hahaha with that set up he was flying michael jordan high!! haha. on a side note i met daewon at milenium park back like 1999 or 2000 i think, his set up was FUCKED! was like a 8.5 FAT but it was Short and his trucks were super loose hahaha i remember being mind blown i couldnt even ride the thing or even kicklfip and he was busting inward heel manual to big ass drop on it haha good times,
