  • In this video I demonstrate how to tie a double gaucho knot as demonstrated by Bruce Grant in his encyclopedia. The knot is not tied with the interweave method, but by building the knot as we go along. Quite an enjoyable method of tying the gaucho knot!
How to tie a regular (single) gaucho knot:

@@Paracordguild Yes and probably like you, I found it very helpful to keep the mandrel tight against my work surface at least until the knot would hold position on its' own. Would be nice if we were able to create a pull handle out of this knot. One whereby two working ends would exit the knot not from the circumference rather instead, from a central position along the length similar to a lawn mower pull start cord. Anyway, thanks again Mark.

So cool! I just got the encyclopedia of rawhide and leather braiding and am using the double gaucho for the top of my lacing needle case. Great tutorial , not a hard one, but not easy at all.

It takes some getting used to, but believe me, it is not the hardest thing out there. For me, for example, my latest video on the 4 bight cross was quite challenging.

Paracord guild I loved that tutorial! I can't imagine not only having to tie said knot, but explain step by step and film it! Thanks so much for doing what you do. You keep this art alive at the same time as sharing it with the world. Thanks again.

Your works are magnificent! Your teaching is excellent! Congratulations! I have a question, if you can clarify I would appreciate it. For exemple, would it be possible to make a "Sextuple Gaucho Knot" simply by multiplying the number of turns at the beginning of its construction and following the sequences shown in the video? I would like to cover a larger surface than the one proposed in this tutorial. Thank you very much for sharing this content and congratulations for the work and technique.

Took me awhile to get to the point where I could tie these knots and keep the leads from moving out of place. Persistence helps.

Lots of great vids, thank you. How long does it take you to learn a knot well enough to demonstrate & are there knots/complexities you can't seem to get the hang of?

That's right, you'll see it done with dry leather strips instead, though. Beautiful finishing and usefulness factors combined.
