ShoddyCast did a whole episode about this. His theory is the cores you find are basically on their last leg age wise to begin with, so they deplete much faster. The cores would have lasted 100+ years brand new in power armor.
The reason why the fusion core that she has seems to be "recharged" is because she replenishes her stock daily. It's simple bartering, not replenishing your F.C's charge
If you get the automatrons DLC it can give you a lot of fusion cores, then you can just keep going to the fort Hagen Satalite array every week or so to collect more fusion cores.

It seems to me that you're not really recharging the fusion core. A new charged fusion core is respawning in her inventory. But selling her the old core before its completely drained is still smart because its worth full value even with a charge of 1.
My car battery is dead. I go to the auto parts store and purchase a new battery for $100 minus $10 for trading in my old core battery. The next day I return to the store and on the shelf is a new fully charged battery. Could it be my old battery recharged? not...
This may not be recharging, but it's still the best method I know. They are pretty hard to find so even if they are expensive, you will have to end up buying them. If you sell your near dead cores, at least you get some caps back. I usually sell a lot of junk in the trade while buying one witch drops the price a lot.

My question is, can you put a dead or near dead fusion core back into the motor and have it recharge there? Have any of you tried?

+Henry Wray This, I agree and disagree to. Yes, Pre-War FCs were powerful, but they've been powering these buildings for two entire centuries. Then again, Power Armor does do a lot for you, doesn't it? It protects you from falling by redistributing all kinetic energy back into the ground (running off of the Freefall notes from Mass Fusion here), it actually carries the armor pieces and frame for you (hence why you move so slow when the Fusion Core runs out, you're lugging that hulking thing around), protects you, and can do at LEAST twenty other things with Armor Mods. However, none of that doesn't discount Point 1 of powering a building for so long. But who's to say that those Fusion Cores haven't been swapped out from time to time?
from all the negative comments I'd guess selling core cost (example) 100 caps and buying one is 150. so you spend 50 caps for a new core. idk, I haven't played Fo4 yet (no system to play it)

A better solution is all ranks of nuclear physicist perk and scrounger, you'll be drowning in fusion cores. And by drowning in fusion cores you'll be swimming in caps even with a CHR skill of 1.
As a merchant, I made a factory in sanctuary that makes ammo. I travel to all these trade markets that I know have fusion core. I first invest in them to raise their money. I buy all the fusion they have there and trade my ammo for them. As of right now, I have 4 traders and all of them have at least 3 to 5 fusion cores at a time. Just one way I get fusion core instead searching.
hardly recharging, you're just rebuying the core once the trader restocks, (and not for cheap either), used to do it in F:NV for anti material rifle n other OP weapons with that 1 robot guy near the strip

you can remove the fusion cores at zero juice if u have the nuclear physicyst perk and the repair bobblehead, its only at zero for a very brief time tho

I prefer finding them. As long as one tirelessly searches everything, fusion cores are discovered eventually, and they will appear in spots already searched if it has been a bit. I simply adopted a consistent searching routine - especially in obscure locations or areas with abandoned power sources. If a spot looks tough to reach or needs to be unlocked, the chances are decent as well. No charging though! Haha... Not possible.

Not really 'recharging'... This is normal that Carla sells Fusion Cores :P (btw at 6 Charisma +2 CH from clothes - u get low price - about 387 caps. if u have industrial water purifiers - u will be wealthy enough to farm water and trade it for cores :P )
Steal from BOS then replace with almost dead core when thru grey back in its back to 100 charge.... usually you have to get an enemy to get close before they get back in the power armor.
I propbebly have the most fusion cores of any plyer, +100 cores in all. that's including backups in my base. I didn't hack I swear, just farm BOS Cores by selling farmed mini nukes from suciders, they give a quite a bit of caps with my extreme charisma. just spend a bit farming nukes, after your done head to the BOS Prydwen, sell the Nukes, and Buys the cores. Repeat, by the time your done farming ( you need to sleep quite a bit for the Suciders to respawn, 3 days) and head back to the Prydwn. The vendor in there will have restocked on cores

Water in a Glass until they get all the pieces destroyed standing around doing nothing and then you have to spend the resources and time to repair them, and good luck getting them to use that weapon for more than five minutes until switching back to their default.

You can actually charge fusion cores by placing them in the inventory of a power armor station.

rechargable fusion cores would be a nice mod, but in the late game you'll find more cores than you'll know what to do with.
Not unless you own a gatling laser and a suit of power armour with a jetpack...

I helped out the people in concord and got 50 fusion cores but the fusion core inside the armor is gone and now I can’t use the power armor anymore
