Oh wow, it’s getting a new anime?? So cool, I’ve only read the first 4 volumes, I’m waiting until I have most of the volumes and then binge it. The new hardcover editions are so nice. I remember when I got the first volume I thought it was the same mangaka as JoJo’s because I think they look so alike.
3:16 If you mean specifically in the US, I’m not sure. If you’re talking about in general, then no this is incorrect. The work of incredibly influential and famous (only in Japan apparently) mangaka Kazuo Koike were famously adapted before this in the Lone Wolf and Cub and Lady Snowblood film series. These actually inspired Kill Bill.
Cool, I didn't know they were releasing a new anime version! As someone who grew up with the original (local tv in Italy used to broadcast it regularly, and most of us kids watched it without our parents' supervision), I have just recently started to collect the new nice edition of the manga. As for this live-action movie, while it is not a good movie by any means, just like most of straight to VHS* low-budget post-apocalyptic action movies of that era, at least it is clear that the people involved took the time to look deeper into the source material and bother to stay rather faithful (even that quirk of the Jackal character in the movie is actually something we saw later in the manga with Jagi). *and while writing, I realised that there may be a significant part of your audience that probably doesn't even know what a VHS was.
The character with the mask on is after Jagi , they kind of messed it up but its not enough to put a mask on your head to stop from exploding, Kenshiro didnt give the final blow to set Jagi s fate back then and Jagi knows Hokuto shinken so he did some pressure points to stop it
Hokuto No Ken is one of my favourites and the cast of characters especially Kenshiro that man is so damn cool and nice it's ridiculous plus the fact that it's getting a new anime project is something special
With the Stone Ocean anime done, and no new Jojo content on the horizon except the ongoing Part 9 manga, I welcome this remake of Fist of the North Star. I've never really gotten into it but I know the basic premise and that it inspired Jojos and Berserk. That alone means I'm there day one...well, unless it's a CGI crapfest then I'll pass.
The prequel souten no ken basically had a cg remake 5 years ago. It's about on par with "Beastars" in terms of quality. But again people probably did not watch that since "Cg" But The 3d Souten no Ken was still infinitely better than The 2006 souten no ken anime
Same here even tho' my first introduction to FOTNS was it's meme, if the remake ends up getting the Berserk 2017 virus? I'll just be more interested in the Kinnikuman anime remake instead since my first discovery of the series was watching clips from it's hilarious sequel I thought was cool called Ultimate Muscle lol.
I mean there fist of the north star prequel had been adapted a few years ago to a decent enough cg anime. (Souten no ken) Probably the same studio will handle this to be honest
The Japanese version of the live action movie is dubbed by the cast who voiced the anime. Both English & Japanese versions are on the Japanese laserdisc
This debuted on HBO. Also to note that this was intended for a Japanese audience (very much like Street Fighter: the Legend of Chun Li), as to why the acting is so bad, but maybe they thought they could make something from the US market. Vader was also very popular from All Japan and New Japan Wrestling. Hokuto no Ken is my absolute favorite manga and anime. Seeing it in all of its forms is either satisfying or painful. This movie was painful, but the fight scenes saved if for me.
I loved it when i first saw it..i was so small. I didn't realize it was base off an anime until years & years later. I was like 😅 they made an anime of that martial arts movie. That's the only reason i started to watch that show yeah. I saw a gif of the show. I was like wait a minute. The way his tipping that dude looks like that one movie i saw as a kid
If im gonna be honest i kinda enjoy the live action movie it has the feel that alot of 80s and 90s action films had that i love loved the interview gary daniels did with scott atkins on his art of action series
I knew about this movie, but was avoiding it due to loving the manga so much that I didn’t want to ruin it. I didn’t know about the new anime remake, but will try to keep an open mind about it. Fingers crossed 🤞 that it doesn’t suck.
yuuuuriiiiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa They also forgot Pelu, but so did everyone in season two. Japan did one and I head it had the same impact. I loathed this movie when it came out.. but after seeing the bad netfix adaptations, the Chinese versions and Korean ones... ;not including Story of RIki-oh; either cause its a knock off... but I appreciate this.... Bat's actor channeled RUfio tho XD I wonder if Korea made a version... there is also a bunch of funny Kenshiro body wash comercials and they are as awesome as the dungeons and dragons Brazil car commercials. man I kinda wanna watch both series again... and yeah Bat was epic, pining over Lin, all rebel leader. the heroic deaths were so amazing tho... I was angry at Toki's death as for the flick, I would probably watch it again. I do wonder if Shin wasnt shirtless because he had no toned abs. was the actor in that ninja movie that came out same time as the one with Sony Chiba?
I hope not, instead of that; they could just continue the English dub of the original show while bringing back the old cast such as Lex Lang reprising his role as kenshiro for example.
With the success of the one piece live action season 1 on Netflix, some knuckleheads are suggesting that Netflix get the live action rights to Berserk. 1: HELL NO! 2: the mere suggestion of that will be sacrificed during the next eclipse. 3: just want an anime , Hollywood and especially streaming is not the bastion of creative storytelling, as Manga sales continue to show. 4: WOO!
"In a swarm of overly cutesy and waifu-heavy modern anime-" You don't watch a lot of modern anime, do you? Also, we're not in the 2000s anymore, dude, that complaint is no longer valid.
jesus christ i had forgotten about this one. one of the biggest disappointments from my teenage years. Edit: Wait a minute.....will this be one of those 3d rotoscoped anime???? i hope not.....
Welp, I know this sounds weird but dispite that my 1st introduction to FOTNS was the memes back in 2018 when I was 16 along with Raoh Ten no Haoh and the DD chibi parody in 2020 when I was 18?? I think it is cool that FOTNS getting a remake, tho' if it ends up getting the Berserk 2017 virus? I guess it's back to binge-watching my Cartoon Network/Jetix monster and mecha anime childhood shows, reading the Berserk manga, and watching more of other classic Toei shows like Kinnikuman,Devilman,Dragon Ball OG (*the OG before Z,GT, and Super.) and Saint Seiya for me lol.
As far as straight-forward martial arts manga is concerned...FOTNS is the grand daddy. Top shelf, for sure. The manga is MUCH better than the 80's anime series. I whole-heartedly recommend buying the hard-cover volumes that are available. They run about 20.00 USD a pop, which I think is a great price point. Now if only Guyver: The Bio-boosted armor got the same treatment.....
It's all good, I already read the manga online. Both the one-shot pilot or prototype and the main manga of FOTNS. I always thought the one shot FOTNS protoype manga was pretty cool when I first read it imo.

Fist Of The North Star is to me what Jojo is to others.
FOTNS walked so JoJo could run
@@kotorandcorvid4968FOTNS sprinted so Jojo could do crazy running backflips.
💯👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
The little electric sound that happens after the "NANI?" ALWAYS gets me so Hyped up
Hokuto no ken was a formative anime for me. I shed manly tiers for Kenshiros journey
“Man who does not know sorrow cannot win!”
Anyone who knows berserk needs to consume the original 80s anime. Pure kino forsure

The Juria thing could just be a mistranslation like the Thouzer vs Souther thing.

I hope that they don't use CG with the new anime and that they don't cut too much content like the previous adaptation.
Kenshiro is my inspiration for training everyday.
Def gonna try to find this movie. Gary Daniels can move!! 👌
The character with the mask on is after Jagi , they kind of messed it up but its not enough to put a mask on your head to stop from exploding, Kenshiro didnt give the final blow to set Jagi s fate back then and Jagi knows Hokuto shinken so he did some pressure points to stop it
I never seen/read FoTNS so now that its getting a new anime it gives me an reason to try it out.
Hokuto No Ken is one of my favourites and the cast of characters especially Kenshiro that man is so damn cool and nice it's ridiculous plus the fact that it's getting a new anime project is something special
The Gary Daniels live action movie should have been a series...
Mad max mixed with Bruce Lee= one of the most badass MCs of all time.
Now this is some hype news man this has me so exited can't wait to see the differences between the 80s anime and the manga!!!
I cant believe Costas Mandylor plays Shin, he plays one of the later villians in the Saw series, I didnt know he was in anything else tbh
I’m very excited for the anime because this is one of my favorite series ever I just hope they don’t mess it up with CGI and censorship
Would love more bootlegs anime adaptations reviews from you! They say the Devilman one from 2004 is pretty bad

But hey fist of the North Star :)

FOTNS started it all.
Bring masculinity back!
One of the first mangas I ever read. The ost for the anime is unforgettable.
Curious about the series now. Thanks for this review.
Hi Ryan, will you be reviewing the new anime?
Also there was an unlicensed dragon ball movie in 1990
I remember when it first aired on cable TV back in the day. I was disappointed then lol
Watch the studio make it 3D animation… regardless of how much the viewers gripe.
Rubber Fist in the North Chocolate Starfish.
Looks pretty cool tbh (and hilarious), might give it a watch!

I gotta read this manga. Gonna start soon. Then ill watch the tv anime series. How was the anime series ?
The old anime is very fun and captures the feeling but the manga is far superior and darker
Ah man the live-action Fist of the North Star. That's all I will say lol
A rare triple ryan thursday

I would recommend the 1995 crying freeman movie with mark dacascos really fun
I think I’ve seen this, it looks really familiar.
Guyver 2 Dark Hero was much better than the first one. Trust me

@@666slateran666 um no.
@@AncestorEmpire1 it's just dark fantasy. And it's already inspired by western stuff like lord of the rings.
@@666slateran666 I would disagree.
It’s more inspired by Hellraiser and Chronicles of Narnia, in my opinion.
@@AncestorEmpire1 hellraiser sure. Chronicles of narnia though? Don't understand the though process there
I watched the live action one recently and thought it was just ok lol not great but not aweful

Right? Who knew!

Not a fan of the movie but I’m glad you enjoyed it

Hokuto no Ken isn't anime....it's MAN-nime !!!
Been there, Done that.
🤣

Mad Max
Kinnikuman,FistOfTheNorthStar and DragonBall are the three godfathers of the Shonen Battle genre in Shonen Jump.
Man, I love Kinnikuman and Dragon Ball (*tho' mostly the OG one more than Z,GT, and Super.)
The movie downplayed/nerfed Kenshiro af dude, lol
Lol I know what you mean, I just meant they actually kept his skills true to the manga and didn’t make him an ordinary fighter
I'm sorry Ryan, I get where you're coming from, but as a fan of the original I gotta say, this movie's real bad, like reallyyyyyyy bad
