So my question is can you wrap those two brackets with that fabric so that it doesn't bang up against the glass? I know you said it's a snug fit but in the event I hit a pothole or something, I wonder if over time it would have the potential of cracking the glass.

Not too much, maybe 4 inches around the perimeter (guessing). But it’s still a very open look and appeal
