Brilliant video. Introduced me to the A2Plus add-in, which is so much easier than doing manual Boolean operations. I can never get the hang of those.

It would help if I was able to access the A2plus workbench, but I can't find it...

Hi, I am a new user of Freecad and just starting leanrning. Your videos are very helpfull. Related to this one, I have a question : Can you create a merged body for 3-d printing like this ? I

Thank you for your video and excellent explanation. the option to set the planes co-incident doesn't appear; I can't tell using 'transform' exactly where it's going. Can you do a video where you set the cylinder EXACTLY in the center of the square/rectangle? When I join actual parts they are more complex and exact then shown here; I need a way to precisely position them. Any ideas?

I think you need to join the two bodies together first. There should be a combine function somewhere for freecad that combines the front and back bodies. You said it yourself you can only create the pocket on one half at a time. I haven't used freecad but I'm learning Fusion 360 and SolidWorks and Autocad.

So can I use A2plus to bring 2 parts together and use one as a boolean cut pattern the way I do in th Part Design workbench?

It did not allow me to move. The solver couldn't find a solution, even though I am using simple parts.

Nice, but how can I export these two bodies now as one file (combined)?

How do you rotate & scale the top part?

how do you select the multiple parts?

  • @thinkingpowertoinnovation2588

Very informative and fairly helpful demo. I was able to follow your instructions and learn intuitively. Nevertheless a bit more improvement when it comes to observing object scaling would be very helpful.

Hi, How can I rotate only the PART 1 object or PART2 object? They just rotate and move together. Thanks

remember with freecad, you get what you pay for. Very non intuitive, difficult and time consuming

@@olibarahosasa1137 I agree, and of course that's why I'm trying to learn it. Coming from solidworks, it is difficult to understand why the authors chose to imitate some look and feel but not function. I know I sound whiny, but can you answer my question, below? I have improved, but struggle to get precise results. For example Transform is a really necessary tool, but functions very coarsely. In sketch I need zed (or 3 axis) control to position the drawing in space. Most of the time the position edit window has no effect, and ignores my input. It seems to me the paradigm for the tools is backwards; you don't start with a body to sketch, you should start with a sketch and create a body. Then you need the power to position it in space. I can do very simple blocky things, but the time spent to get precise spatial drawing of complex parts is astronomical.
Anyway, I'm trying, thanks for your input.

His english really isn't so bad- but there appears to be some horrible electronic processing of his audio, like a delayed VOX with a slow ramp-up rate. It seems to cut-off the first parts of his voice.
