Good to see that y'all enjoyed this! This is one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite movies! So glad to see so many comments from other fans of this movie.
I can see that everyone has mentioned that this song is from the sequel to Saturday Night Fever Staying Alive. I have always loved Staying Alive. It wasn't a hit like Saturday Night Fever but 80' s cable played it on repeat & I fell in love with the music & dance scenes. You should check it out on your movie reaction channel. It would be an interesting contrast to the more successful Saturday Night Fever. Staying Alive is a whole another vibe. SNF was clearly a representation of a certain place & time. I remember your reaction to SNF & some parts were uncomfortable. Staying Alive is lighter & shows the progress of John's s character trying to progress to the next level. All the more reason you should check this sequel out. How many times after watching a successful movie you what to know more or what happen next ? If you review Staying Alive you will find out 🤔
It's what this era was all about. Dancing. And the emphasis on physical fitness was reflected in casual street wear .... leggings, sweat bands, sport footwear etc.
Wow you are finding some songs that I forgot I grew up listening to. Frank Stallone was sang in the Rocky movie. He looks like Sly but not as buff. 😊❤ Love you both & your channel!!! Warms my heart to see young people appreciating & loving my era of music.
Syl's bro, one hit wonder from the Staying Alive (sequel to Saturday Night Fever) soundtrack. Frank and Sly both made cameos in the movie that Syl directed. Related to this, the blonde love interest in Staying Alive, Cynthia Rhodes is the same blonde dancing in the "Rosanna" video from Toto.
@@thesavvyboy I think he was in 3 scenes. 2 as the singer, then when he dropped off the girl to a very upset Tony….lol. He got very lucky to do almost the entire soundtrack, as the studio rejected him at first.
I came here tonight to watch this for my mom; she’s in the hospital, and this is from one of her favorite movies ever. We saw it in the theater when I was about 10 yrs old. Love you Momma! 🙏🏻💜

It is a great way to spend a Saturday and binge watch these two back to back...The Music and the dancing is awesome...Still many many years later...they never get old. You wont be sorry... Go FOR IT!!! Have Fun...you will be glad you did!...Kat
This was technically the sequel to Saturday Night Fever... Tony's (John Travolta) dancing got him to Broadway, now he has to make it to the big time. Sylvester Stallone even makes a cameo in the beginning of the movie.
Patrick Swayze would have been 70 this year had he not died of pancreatic cancer in 2009. The son of Patsy Swayze, herself a dancer, choreographer, dance instructor, and business owner. She's a star in her own right, having founded and directed both the Houston Jazz Ballet Company and her own Houston dance studio, the Swayze School of Dance, as well as teaching dance and choreography at the University of Houston. She has a kewl tie to Travolta as she was choreographer for Urban Cowboy. Patrick, a Houston native, had four siblings, all professional actors and dancers. He played football during high school, and was set for a football scholarship but he blew out his knee ended his gridiron career. Patrick moved to New York City to complete his formal dance training at the Harkness Ballet and Joffrey Ballet schools. From an athletic family, his brother Don also played ball and is a well known character actor you've not doubt seen in movies and television. Both also had/have high degrees in Wushu, Taekwondo, and Aikido.
The blonde actress is Cynthia Rhodes who was also one of the supporting leads in Dirty Dancing! She was also the dancer in the “Rosanna” video by Toto!
Aside from the Stallone connection, funny you should think of Rocky, cos the song was cowritten by Vince DiCola, who composed the score for Rocky IV (as well as Hearts on Fire, my favourite song from the Rocky saga, except from Gonna Fly Now).
This is the sequel to " Saturday Night Fever ". I think the movie deserved more attention than it got. John Travolta has so much natural talent on the dance floor, check-out " Urban Cowboy ".
My late and dear aunt presented me to this movie, and soundtrack when I was five years old. This song holds very fond memories of listening to the record in the living room 😊❤
I fell down the Stallone rabbit hole watching Tulsa King and his reality show The Family Stallone😂😂. Frank makes occasional appearances there, good to see he’s still performing
You mentioned Dirty Dancing...the girl in the headband hugging on John Travolta in the "Stayin Alive" video was also the female lead dancer in Dirty Dancing. Her name is Cynthia Rhodes. 'very talented dancer and singer. She was married to Richard Marx for a time too.
Other Frank Stallone songs: Take You Back, Moody Girl, I’m Never Gonna Give You Up (feat. Cynthia Rhodes), Finding Out the Hard Way (feat. Cynthia Rhodes). Cynthia Rhodes played Penny in ‘Dirty Dancing’, Tina in Flashdance, Jackie in the sequel to Saturday Night Fever called Stayin’ Alive, and she was the dancer in the music video Rosanna by Toto. She was also married to singer Richard Marx at one point.
This song is an absolute banger!!! Always liked it and I'm amazed there wasn't an even bigger career for Frank in music.....although he seems to be doing fine and enjoying life.
Looks like y'all got a couple more movies to watch after reacting to this track. Man this is new to me .. I know this song but didn't realize it was Sylvester's younger bro. Never really thought about it. Very cool. Evidently Frank has performed numerous songs for Sylvester's movies. Thnx Amber & J .. always good to learn new stuff. Peace ❣️☮️😊
This song is on my 'hurry, hurry' playlist. I play it when I need to be somewhere on time (and I'm already late). Then I dramatically run from room to room grabbing everything I need to take with me and finding shoes and a jacket to match my outfit, lol.
I saw Staying Alive in theaters in 1983. My friend still makes fun of me that it is a very guilty pleasure (it is the sequel to Saturday Night Fever - VERY different from the original, other than John as Tony of course). Finola Hughes is the lady he is dancing with in some scenes. Funny side note: Just saw Finola today getting shot on General Hospital! She has been playing a spy on the show for something like 35 years! I always think about that every time I watch it. Cynthia Rhodes, another dancer in the movie is his girlfriend in the story. Not only is Cynthia a great dancer, but a beautiful singer. She has some songs on the soundtrack, including a couple with Frank Stallone. She sings in the movie too with Frank (he has a small part). In the beginning of the movie, there is a funny scene where "Tony" is walking on a typical, packed NYC street and bumps into a fur coat wearing Sylvester Stallone in a cameo (he directed the movie). Frank is a great singer and a nice dude.
3 for 3 today! Love it 💝 Patrick Swazye is my vote for best dancer! Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this from the movie Staying Alive, which Sylvester Stallone directed?
Findlay Hughes has the most beautiful accent and long beautiful hair. Yes my celebrity crush. The Broadway Production at the end of this movie is just mind blowing.
Lol you have actually heard Frank sing in both Rocky and Rocky II holding it down with the boys singing on the street corner. Great song even all these years later
The movie also stars Finola Hughes who plays Anna Devane on General Hospital. And Cynthia Rhodes - who played Penny (the blond) in Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze. She was also married to the amazing singer Richard Marx - and was the dancer in Toto's Rosanna video. Which ALSO had a very young Patrick Swayze in it. ETA - John and Patrick are BOTH fantastic dancers. Patrick is actually a classically trained ballet dancer. And John just has that natural talent and charisma. I love watching him dance in movies.
I loved Finola Hughes as Anna Devane! So much fun watching GH in the 80's. :D John doesn't dance (that I recall) in Get Shorty, but I really love how he moves in that movie. X)
I have always loved this song. If you want to see Frank Stallone look no further than your Rocky II reaction at 5:36 he is part of the gang singing around a fire.
This to me is one of my favorite songs of the 80s, great to listen to when running on the treadmill! Along with “Push it to the Limit” by Paul Engeman from the Scarface soundtrack!
Whole new Genra: Big Bands, one of the best was Glenn Miller - Suggested starting place: Pennsylvania 6-5000. Just passing it on. Would love to hear the reaction to the Bounce and the Horns. Thanks
Sly's brother Frank sings in two rocky movies, in Rocky 2 he sings the song, " two kinds of love" at the burning barrel when Rocky is carrying Adrian after they got married
I've watched some of the early John Travolta movies that were written/directed by Sly Stallone and featured his brother Frank, who has a great voice. I love the song Cynthia Rhodes sings in this movie to John Travolta's character because he breaks her heart. For another 80s classic, try Pat Benatar, Love Is A Battlefield. One of my all time favourite songs that I can listen to on repeat and never tire of it. It featured in Jennifer Garner's movie from 20 odd years ago, 13 Going On 30, which I also love.
❤omg i love you guys, you both are fun and so refreshing to see how you love music n movies 🎥 that i seen when i was y'all age, just a blessing keep it up
This is the high-energy opener to the movie ‘Staying Alive,’ the sequel to ‘Saturday Night Fever.’ The movie was directed by Sylvester Stallone, and it starred John Travolta.
Patrick Swayze was a trained ballet dancer. His mother had a dance studio and that's where he learned dance. John Travolta learned specific dances for his movies and although he's good, he didn't have dance training from when he was young. This movie is Staying Alive the sequel to Saturday Night Fever. It also has songs by the Bee Gees!
Sylvester Stallone directed the movie this is from (Sayin' Alive- the sequel to Saturday Night Fever). Also, Cynthia Rhodes (who played Penny in Dirty Dancing) co-starred in this movie and sang a duet with Frank Stallone in it. The duet is called 'I'm Never Gonna Give You Up'. Cynthia Rhodes is the former wife of singer Richard Marx.
Frank Stallone also has a little bit of acting chops too. And what's funny is you've actually seen him, but wouldn't know it.....unless you looked at the credits. He was in "Tombstone", which you both have done a reaction to. He was the guy that Doc stabbed near the beginning of the movie. He was also in a movie called, "Hudson Hawk" with Bruce Willis. And an episode of my favorite TV show, "Miami Vice" (season 3) .
my suggestions ..... 1.Alannah Myles - Black Velvet , 2. Trooper - Raise A Little Hell, 3. HARDY - wait in the truck (feat. Lainey Wilson) (CMA Awards 2022 Live Performance) , 4.Nickelback - Rockstar , 5. April Wine - Sign Of The Gypsy Queen 6. Nickelback - How You Remind Me , 7. Chilliwack - My Girl , 8. Trooper - We're Here For A Good Time (Not A Long Time) , 9 Hozier - Take Me To Church
Frank was also the guy in the first Rocky film that came out of an alley while Rocky and Adrian were walking back to his apartment after their first date. Rocky says "Hey, it's the bum from the neighborhood! Get a job, ya bum!" Lol
Frank Stallone sang in Rocky he also made a song for Rambo 3 and others and this song is from the movie Stayin Alive where you can see Sylvester Stallone for few second because Stallone directed the movie ! Frank Stallone is a good singer.
Frank Stallone was a legitimate singer and there's no doubt his singing career was helped by his brother putting some of Frank's songs into his movies. The clips shown in this video are from the movie "Staying Alive" which sort of a sequel to "Saturday Night Fever." Sylvester Stallone only has a very brief cameo in this movie, but he also directed it. You can also find some Frank Stallone songs in some of the Rocky movies. "Far From Over" actually got all the way up to #10 on the Billboard music chart.
Off IMDB. Five years later, Tony Manero's Saturday Night Fever is still burning. Now he's strutting toward his biggest challenge yet: succeeding as a dancer on the Broadway stage. I remember I didn't know if I would like the movie before I went but came away rather pleased after watching it with my GF, all in all a good movie.
The movie is Staying Alive, the sequel to Saturday Night Fever!!! John Travolta’s character, Tony Manero, 5 years later, still loves to dance….and is trying to succeed as a dancer on the Broadway stage. Not easy. Travolta asked Sylvester Stallone to direct it, a little Rocky-style. Of course, The Bee Gees had their music featured in this film, too! The dance scenes are truly fantastic, and Travolta worked for 5 months of rigorous training to get a dancer’s physique and dance techniques, and he lost 20 lbs. You should react to this film. You are a big Bee Gees fan, and you’ve seen Saturday Night Fever!
Sly physically trained Travolta to get him in shape for this film. This clip is from "Staying Alive" the sequel to "Saturday Night Fever". I bought this album when the film came out as I really liked the music.
SONG RECOMMENDATIONS: I loved my 80s music and still like that trip down memory lane, but here are some really awesome songs that stood out for me back then, slade - runaway, yazoo - dont go, dead or alive - you spin me around, bronski beat - hit that perfect beat, Kane gang - respect yourself, Murray head - one night in bangkok, pet shop boys - heart. (music video is awesome for this one)
Stallone's family were all fun . We had ... Sylvester (Sly) Stallone who is more of an actor than people think at times. People remember him for his mainstream action roles but movies like Cop Land, Stop or My Mom Will Shoot and Lords of Flatbush showed the other sides of him well. Frank Stallone, besides being a highly underrated singer also happened to be a low-budget action movie star (ironically at the same time as Don Swayze, Patrick's brother). And Jackie Stallone, their mother, was the face of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (G.L.O.W.) show for years She was just as colorful and creative as both her sons. It's obvious where they got their talent. As for who was a better action movie star, Stallone or Swayze, it depends ... for flashier more explosive action movies I'd have to say Stallone but if you're talking about stronger characterization and deeper action movie stories I'd have to go with Patrick. To this day I'd say that Swayze's Road House, Next of Kin and Black Dog are some of the most underrated action movies of all time but at the same time Stallone's Nighthawks, Cobra and Paradise Alley are very underrated as well.
If you ever watch Rocky II (I think that's the one) where he gets married and he's carrying her home, they stop by what he call the community juke-box, which is a group of guys gathered around singing on a corner. The leader of those singers in that scene is none other than Frank Stallone.
The movie is "Staying Alive". I say that Patrick Swayze was the better dancer, (he has skills in ballet that you haven't seen) so you guys should look up some of his work and really be able to compare more. These dance movies don't allow you to see how real dancers often express themselves through dance because of movie choreography. Anyway.... We played this song in high school marching band, and yes, it was hard for us to remain disciplined and not break out dancing on the field. 😊 When we'd practice and listen to the playback, sometimes our band director would let us go wild. We won the competition with this song being one of two or three that we played. 😁
That is a good question of, “Who is the better dancer?”. John Travolta (Tony) vs Patrick Swayze (Johnny). Hands down, it’s both John Travolta irl and Tony in the movies. John Travolta showed his moves in multiple movies, where as Patrick Swayze only has Dirty Dancing. The life style Tony lived got him to realize he needed to change and ultimately got him to Broadway. Johnny just blames others for not giving him a fair shot. Not until Johnny realize that Baby made him a better person does he see he could be something more than a summer gig. But!! When it comes to who would win one on one in a fight. That would be Johnny.
That movie is called Staying Alive , John Travolta did that after Saturday Night Fever . I never knew Frank Stallone sang this . Sylvester Stallone is a huge huge move star . His last movie was Creed 1-2 which was Apollo he faught in Rocky , Creed was Apollo son . There’s even 1 more. Rocky out .
Travis Tritt. Put some drive in your country and outlaws like us. Hank Williams Jr. Born to boogie and all my rowdy friends are coming over tonight. Hank Williams Jr and Hank Williams there's a tear in my beer
Amber, just a small shout out for female Friday! The band is called T'Pau and the song is " Heart and Soul" I think you're gonna like it. May the force be with you.
I don't actually know who was the better dancer, but I do know that Patrick Swayze's mom was a dance instructor, so I imagine Patrick knew ALL the moves. :)

The movie you're seeing it called Staying Alive, good movie too, knew you guys would love this one.😎👌🎸 Frank was in Rocky, he was one of the Street Singers . Frank Stallone has has several album's out from 1984 to 2020. Other songs of his are
Take you back (from Rocky Movie)1976,
Running 1984,
If we ever get back 1984,
I do believe in you 1984,
Peace in our life 1985 (from Rambo movie),
Bad nite 1987(from Sylvester Stallone movie Over the Top).
Patrick Swayze is the better dancer, he studied ballet when he was younger his mother was a ballet teacher.
Jay & Amber, you’ll love "In the Still of the Night by The Five Satins 1956!!! An all-time classic!!
"Staying Alive," such a great 1980's dance movie - Travolta at his peak as a dancer.
Good to see that y'all enjoyed this! This is one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite movies! So glad to see so many comments from other fans of this movie.
Frank Stallone also had a part in Tombstone. A hint...
"Why Ed, are we cross?"
Hey guys, this movie, Staying Alive also features music by the Bee Gees, 'Breakout' is a brilliant song!
Wow you are finding some songs that I forgot I grew up listening to. Frank Stallone was sang in the Rocky movie. He looks like Sly but not as buff. 😊❤ Love you both & your channel!!! Warms my heart to see young people appreciating & loving my era of music.
This is a soundtrack that I would forget, once I left the movie.
Frank was more than a cameo in Staying Alive though….
@@jbeechuk A bit more, true enough. He had a couple of lines.
@@thesavvyboy I think he was in 3 scenes. 2 as the singer, then when he dropped off the girl to a very upset Tony….lol. He got very lucky to do almost the entire soundtrack, as the studio rejected him at first.
So totally 80s. We were always dancing!
I came here tonight to watch this for my mom; she’s in the hospital, and this is from one of her favorite movies ever. We saw it in the theater when I was about 10 yrs old. Love you Momma! 🙏🏻💜
Yesss!! Invading my playlist yet again lol Love this song, it comes out in the movie Staying Alive (1983) with, as you saw, John Travolta and Cynthia Rhodes, who played Penny in Dirty Dancing!!
For film Friday, you gotta check out Hairspray. John Travolta plays the mother and dances in heels. Superb skills!!
I’m one year short of 50 this year, and those who were pro wrestling fans of NWA and Ric Flair will remember this song as the theme for Starcade 1985!
Didn’t realize it was the theme, but I absolutely associate the song with them showing the Starrcade highlights during the Saturday afternoon and 6:05pm shows on the Superstation.
Frank was the punchline of one of Norm Macdonald's best jokes
“The number one box office film right now is Nintendo's (Mario Bros.) And the least selling box office film? You guessed it - Frank Stallone's (Stallone Bros.)
Ok You TWO!!! Movie#1 is "Saturday Night Fever" "Staying Alive" is #2 Both with John Travolta.
This is the sequel to
" Saturday Night Fever ". I think the movie deserved more attention than it got. John Travolta has so much natural talent on the dance floor, check-out " Urban Cowboy ".
People make fun of Staying Alive but it's actually really worth watching...
My late and dear aunt presented me to this movie, and soundtrack when I was five years old. This song holds very fond memories of listening to the record in the living room 😊❤
Saturday Night Fever part 2 = Staying Alive (The magic of Frank Stallone) Great movie BTW (especially the ending)
I simply love this song. Great choice. Great movie Staying Alive
Peace ❣️☮️😊
i was hoping you doing this song sometime and finally comes so glad of it
I met Frank Stallone, him and Sylvester went to my high school in Philly(Lincoln HS) there were pics of Sylvester all over the main office!
This song is on my 'hurry, hurry' playlist. I play it when I need to be somewhere on time (and I'm already late). Then I dramatically run from room to room grabbing everything I need to take with me and finding shoes and a jacket to match my outfit, lol.
He also did the song, for the closing credits in Rambo.
Loved the Frank Stallone sound!
Swayze in Roadhouse was crazy hot.
This movie was the sequel to Saturday Night Fever- Staying Alive... Tony Manero (John Travolta) gets his big break and goes to Broadway...
It was written by Vince DiCola who Sly got to compose the music for ROCKY IV. He also scored the animated TRANSFORMERS movie in 1986.
Ahem...written by Vince DiCola AND Frank Stallone.
Lot's of actors had brief singing careers. Bruce Willis even had a few minor hits in the 80's.
omg such a good idea for them to have a day where they react to actors singing LOL some will be great for laughs. I got a laundry list from the 80s!
I was just playing Bruce Willis’s Return of Bruno albums tonight.
❤omg i love you guys, you both are fun and so refreshing to see how you love music n movies 🎥 that i seen when i was y'all age, just a blessing keep it up
Never miss a John Travolta dance scene in a movie.
This is the high-energy opener to the movie ‘Staying Alive,’ the sequel to ‘Saturday Night Fever.’ The movie was directed by Sylvester Stallone, and it starred John Travolta.
"Opener"? It's played like 20 times throughout the movie.
And at least 4 bee gees tracks...soundtrack is really good really 80s
MY DAY MADE ALREADY AND IT IS ONLY 7:40 AM..PRICELESS. FLY HIGH IN THE POP SKY FRANKIE
It's Staying Alive!!! Watch it!!!
Vince DiCola does the instrumentals, you can tell from some of the elements. They're are similarities found in Rocky 4.
You watched Rocky and Rocky II, Frank was the singer on street with others in both...can see his Chen to see he's a Stallone!
Frank was also the guy in the first Rocky film that came out of an alley while Rocky and Adrian were walking back to his apartment after their first date. Rocky says "Hey, it's the bum from the neighborhood! Get a job, ya bum!" Lol
Kudos to the composer, the great Vince Dicola, who is also the composer of Rocky IV score
Frank Stallone sang in Rocky he also made a song for Rambo 3 and others and this song is from the movie Stayin Alive where you can see Sylvester Stallone for few second because Stallone directed the movie ! Frank Stallone is a good singer.
Frank Stallone was also the actor who played the first gambler Ed Bailey that Doc Holiday (Val Kilmer) stabbed in the saloon. In the movie Tombstone.
This was my favorite song when it came out!
Sequel to Saturday Night Fever. Lots of Bee Gees songs in it as well. 👍
The name of the film is Staying Alive.
Great soundtrack, Great film.
"Staying Alive" the movie that this song is from, was the sequel to "Saturday Night Fever"...
When we'd practice and listen to the playback, sometimes our band director would let us go wild.
Dear Lord, Frank Stallone got a reaction video before Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Natalie Merchant/10,000 Maniacs and Garbage. 🤯🤯
I give up. 😢

From the movie "Staying Alive" 🎶🎬
Having neither seen said movie nor heard said song before. I thought that song was brilliant. And JT's dancing in the music video, just makes me want to watch the movie now. Fabulous 👌 ❤ 🎼 🎬
The blond you see Travolta with in this video is Cynthia Rhondes...she played Penny in Dirty Dancing....so she has danced with both Travolta and Swayze!!!
Frank was a street singer in Rocky and an opponent of Clubber Lang in Rocky 3
Y’all definitely need to see this movie. It’s called Staying Alive. Yes, that Staying Alive! Wait for it…more Bee Gees songs!
