you are such a big encouragement for me to move back. I love how you are not bias to what happening to the country and how real you are about everything. my biggest fear was that I would like the city better because of the stores and how close everything like i'm used to in the US. I look forward to your videos and enjoy watching them. thank you for sharing your experience. please keep sharing them !

Thanks for watching hun! If you live in the Petionville area you’ll have a very similar lifestyle to the States. That’s where I lived before moving to Okap. You’ll find literally everything there! Spas, luxury salons, all types of restaurants, supermarkets, etc. But once you leave the West Department, the other cities don’t have that vibe.

Luckily I’m a beach bum, I love the beach. So I wouldn’t mind a rural area closer to the beach with a slower lifestyle than in the states . 😊

When I returned from my trip to Cape Haitien with a friend few weeks ago, we saw on the plane to go back to the US more than 175 Haitians who were leaving to live in the US. I was so traumatized because for me I think that US is traping those haitians. They want to empty Haiti of their population to buy our land and buy our natural wealth. They create chaos and disorder to make us flee our country. to go work hard to build their country while they take their vacation in the most beautiful places in Haiti. It is time for the Djaspora to put value on the still few safe places in Haiti in order to create economic activities to encourage people to live in Haiti in good conditions. because otherwise we will lose our nation and in a few years we will all be divided.

At the rate people have children in this country I don’t ever see our population decreasing. It’s a controversial topic, but I really wish people were more accepting of family planning. I don’t understand why people have 5/6 kids but no money😢. Then the kids have a really hard life.

thank you for all your videos, you are part of the change that Haiti needs. I was in Haiti at the end of January and beginning of February with a friend. as a young Haitian born in Canada I found the city of Au cap to be a city with great tourist potential which could create a lot of work for the inhabitants and the young people.. also we absolutely need to help (we djaspora) the small cleaning companies in the city to solve this pollution problem!

There are some companies trying to solve the waste issue, but I don’t think it’ll work unless they partner with the government. This is something that needs to be done on a large scale.

Hi Rutty, for this program, I decided not to talk about it again but I don't mind sharing my thoughts for your video. One thing to note, when you look at the sky-high tickets from Haiti to anywhere in the States for the last two years especially around the beginning of that program, and you add the cost for the work permit, the government benefited from those sponsors. This program created also so much division between family members as well. I have met and seen some Haitians sleeping in shelters once they arrived here. While I understand the sorrow and desperation of our people, I personally believe that overall, no matter what, I think just a slim minority of people can say that it worked well for them.
Your video was fun to watch, keep them coming🙂

Here in Oregon, they’re well received via the Biden program or other means. Those in the program always have the family's support. Within two days of arrival they test for their drivers license, workers permit is no longer an obstacle because they realize these people will work regardless so why not give it to them so they can be properly taxed.

At a point in my life we were in Dominican Republic for about 2 years and we loved it there. Still thinking about going is just so much going on where it kind of puts a pause on everything? How was it looking for a job because that's my main concern? What VPN do you use for work? Because I know you have to have a certain type of internet or VPN to work. God bless you my sister and your family waiting on the next video.

It’s normal here for the housekeeper to live with you. Almost every house we have lived in had a room designated for a housekeeper. But we used that space for something else. I just like to have freedom in my space. If we want to randomly do something no one needs to see or hear then we can. But when someone is in your space 24/7 it’s kinda awkward to me.

What kind of work do you and your husband do in Haiti to be able to afford to rent a house?

Lol this is kinda funny but I won’t take it the wrong way. I am a program coordinator & my husband is a record producer, sound engineer & designer.

I thought you lived in Au Cap au Cap not Plaisance 😅By the way I went to Au Vap beginning of the Mon 2-9. Very bad experience. As a native I was shocked to see how dirty and disorganized the city has become. But definitely want to come back again not waiting as long as I did.. my time before that was May2018
Please let me know what internet service you use because I couldn't get any good signal in cité du peuple even Vaudreuil 😅
On my way back I felt a certain way of all these youngters travelling to the US with the thoughts they will never ne back..When I left Haiti in 2014 even with my residency I was sad so it disheartening to see how your people gave up on yhe country 😢

I don’t live in Plaisance, I live in Cap-Haitien. I was responding to a comment left on the video about why I decided to move to Okap. In the video I mentioned that Okap is just temporary for us until we finalize everything in Plaisance. I added the link to the video in the description box. It’ll make more sense after you watch it. We have Starlink for internet. It’s awesome! No issues at all.

Is there a mailing system in Haiti? How does it work? Last time I went to Haiti was 2009 but as expected, I didn’t see any mailboxes.

    • @ruttyb
      @ruttyb  5 місяців тому +1

My friend mailed me a card from Maryland through USPS so it went through Haiti’s postal service. It took 5 months to get the letter. The guy who delivered it claimed he came to our house several times to deliver it lol. A mailing system exist, but it isn’t efficient.

You should consider using either UPS or FedEx for faster delivery service( between 2 & 3 days).

The door to grace is open, so let's take advantage of it to draw closer to our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
John, 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

The city isn’t managed properly so it gets really frustrating. There are roads that have been under construction for over 5 years, crazy traffic, majorrrrrr sanitation issues, any little rain & it floods, etc.
