- In this video I will be doing a deep dive into the song "Spillways" by GHOST. I will be watching three videos. I will start with a Lyric video so that I can understand what the song is about. Then I will watch the official Music Video. Finally, I will be watching a live concert performance.

"This is an elegy for the darkness that most people have inside. When you have a dam, spillways are the run-offs so the dam won’t overflow. That darkness inside us needs to find its way out."
A direct quote from Tobias as to what the song is meant to be about. In short, it's about the human experience and the way we cannot internalise these dark feelings. It was definitely intended to be a very straight up rock song as well, though.
And Joe Elliott of Def Leppard just collaborated and sang this. His favorite album of 2022 and this is his favorite song
You may not love but I do. I've listened to it a thousand times (no exaggeration) and still not tired of it.
Nothing wrong with that
The beauty about ghost is there are multiple meanings to each song, this song specifically speaks to me, in each person theres a certain darkness or “sinful” side of us, we continue to feed this darkness inside and it gets bigger and bigger till it eventually spills out of us, one way or another.
This song grows on me. The piano, the drum are amazing.
I really appreciate your approach to doing these reactions. You are currently my number one reactor (subscribed duh). Keep up the great work.
Thanks, that means a lot
This reminds me of when Satan wrote for Toto, they were never the same after his greatest song (Satan's) Love Isn't Always On Time lol
There are some very tricky key changes in this song, it is deceptively complex. I suggested it for my covers band, but after trying it out (in drop C tuning, no less) the riffs were quite difficult to negotiate. Doable, but it isn't straightforward. It is very clever...
They just did a collaboration with Joe Elliot from Def Leppard on this song. You should check it out.
Thanks Chris
That live performance was even better when you were there! I had the great pleasure to attend 2 rituals last year, one on the Pre-Impera Tour, and that one right there at Cure Arena on the Impera Tour. I have to say, Papa was in fine form that night. 💀😁
Very cool Vy
For someone who has been through the cycle of sin and repentance, I think it's about burying things inside and thinking you'll never do them again But you continue over and over and over. It's a cycle... Cycle of guilt and shame.
You continually feed the beast inside you and then feel guilty about it...
Interesting theory
Love this song! i"m glad i can see your reaction for this one :)
Thank you Michal
Ahhhh the live performance was from my show!! Still obsessed with it lol
Whoa I really enjoy the way you react to the videos. Ghost is fantastic!
Thank you Filipe
Love the new crown logo... My lyric take: We deliberately choose pain. The little voice of our mortality tells us that striving for detachment leads to freedom. Yet we discard that info completely and indulge to the full -- freely opening our veins for this vampire world to drink.
Thanks for noticing the new logo. I like your interpretation of the song.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
May I suggest, for your future Ghost live references, a quite good show recording from 2022. It's an entire setlist filmed in 4k with the best sound quality I've yet to find here on youtube. I tend to believe he's using some sort of external mic or just a very good phone or small camera. I don't know the guy, I'm not even american, but his channel is full of good quality recordings from various bands shows. He even makes an intro rundown of the venue and his experience of being there.

Thanks
This song is about using christianity to make excuses for your lustful living. The human spillways is your tears through your eyes. Fun fact! The piano you hear is the same piano ABBA used to record their hits. Impera is recorded in the old ABBA studio and the piano still stood there.
That is a fun fact. Thanks Magnus.
even thou I feel impera is a great album, to me Older Ghost is so much better!
I agree..its fine..nothing wrong with the song.good band.but not exactly breaking the mold.
Corpus Dei=Body of God=Body of Christ.
Thanks Bergman
@@TouchyReactions 👋🤟
The music is great...all the words to their songs are tied into demonic or satanic topics
Thanks Dale
This started off strong, but ended up feeling like a regular 80s rock song. Nothing bad about 80s rock songs, but I think I was expecting something on the same level as Rats. Thanks for nice reaction, Touchy! Cheers!
I hear you.
Hey check out that "Bad Man" Reaction. I have a feeling you'll love it.
The key changes and the transitions that introduce those changes are pretty innovative and socially interesting once you notice them! That's the thing with Ghost, even when they write a "easy" song, thrre's always at least one prog element to it, or a clever/witty metaphor in the lyrics, and this song is packed with them!
Tobias is quite fond of 80's rock.
A female menstruation? WTF? Weird...
😂
Amber heard come to mined lol
