Ghost has been riding such an incredible high recently! This album, Impera, is such a masterpiece and is their fastest selling album, their shows and fan base continues to get bigger, and their music videos and production values are top notch. It's satisfying seeing this once obscure band that I love finally get the mass attention they deserve.
They just won the AMA favorite rock album category! Also got nominated for a grammy for Call Me Little Sunshine. It's a good time to be a fan!
I love this song and Ghost is definitely one of my favorite bands.
Tobias Forge is a freaking genius, like in a genuine sense. He IS Ghost.
He isnt Ghost on his own though, more like the leader who choose among fellow compositors proposals (Pontare/Fakir/Alhlund/Grahn/Svensson) : ua-cam.com/video/BL5i_fCXYvw/v-deo.html
Love that "And I ain't talking about forgiveness"
YES
I definitely recommend you check out some of their older songs, Absolution or Majesty are some really good ones!
This is like an amalgamation of the best of 80s rock and I'm all here for it.
Catchy as F!
Absolutely love Ghost. Saw them in March and gonna see them again in August. Tobias is amazing. Thank you for sharing this. 😍
Absolutely LOVE this song, and this video looked gorgeous!!!
Ghost is my favorite band, thanks for the awesome reaction/review! Have you ever listened to their song Zenith? It's another great one. 😀
Dude I love your energy watching Ghost. I’ve only recently gotten into them and it’s a pure joy to see you respond like I did. Keep ‘em coming!!
The eyes are the windows of the soul, right? The spillways of the soul are the tear ducts. When you fight the darkness (at least what religion calls darkness) inside yourself, using religion or whatever, it's going to come to a head with one of two outcomes: Tears of relief from stopping the fight and giving in or tears of frustration from continuing to fight and never finding the outcome you are looking for. Either way, the darkness comes out a little, and you achieve catharsis. Tobias wrote a damn deep song. And a damn good one.
My fave band. Tobias is an amazing songwriter, singer, and overall frontman. Love everything about Ghost from the music, lyrics, costumes, all of it. Saw them in February and can’t wait until September as I have ticket to see them again. And you are so correct about Parkway Drive…they kick ass big time and just bring it hard every time.
I haven’t been this stoked since Crüe in the 80s. Time for Crüe to retire and make room for Ghost
Satan has some catchy riffs and lyrics.
Kudos to him 😁
Mary on a Cross is awesome too. His Papa used to sing it lol
First show Up of Papa IV in a videoclip since the apparition in Hunter's Moon. I've waiting for this. And Spillways is a great song, like the whole album 🤟 tx for the react from Québec 🇲🇶 🇨🇦
love this song.. fun to play as well.
Try to look at there other songs like Deus in Absentia, Ritual, Respite of Spitalfields, Year Zero, Mummy Dust, Stand by Him. There is such a gold mine. Lot of people only talks about Square Hammer, Cirice and Dance Macabre.
Tobias has proven what growth in music is every album hits on such different genres of past music.... Spillways hits this strange 80s Meatloaf and Jim Steinman every time I hear it
Agree. I get 70's vibes from older stuff. The newer stuff is very 80's. I sometimes wonder if they will go 90's grunge then nu metal in future albums.
I definitely hear hints of Square Hammer and their past 2 albums. Their last 2 albums were not their first though. Their first 2 albums are Opus Eponymous which was very doom metal and Infestisumam which has their older hit Year Zero. They're very different from this album.
Yea…theyve def become more 80s now
You are my favourite UA-cam react channel. Seeing how much you enjoy it just makes me so happy hahaha what an infectious smile
It's a homage to 80's music 🎶
🔥🔥
Huh, that comment from Tobias about writing solos that are sort of Brian May-ish would explain why I've always thought that I heard a bit of Queen in Ghost!
That and those dense, tight vocal harmonies.
Which is 150% fine by me. Anything to do with Queen and/or Ghost is fine by me.
I love Impera and this is probably my favorite song. Hell, I know a few people who are like "I don't like Ghost" who can't help but like this. But as a side note, this morning they've pulled the video. Maybe it was a mistake or they got a content strike on their own video...
Impera made me a bigger ghost fan but i've listened to ghost since 2014-2015 ish
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Good review. I think their video really brings out how good the song is. "Griftwood" is my fave, hope it gets a video too.
I don't really think of it as an amalgamation or homage to their earlier songs, it's just what Forge's songwriting is and always has been. Is it retro? Only if one thinks that good songs are retro (and that may be so, these days), but I don't hear it as '70s, '80s, or '90s music...I've been listening to music since the '60s, and other than production techniques, great music is timeless. This particular song is simple in its chord progressions, but complex in its arrangement and key changes, making it unique. I've been a fan of Forge's work for a long time, and his work before Ghost is interesting as well. He just seems to get better and better as time goes by.
Ghost is the best band !! ♡♡♡♡
Yep..a decade ago I loved bands like Shinedown and even Avenged Sevenfold..for the past 5 years or so? This band right here. 👍🏼
Interesting sidenote on Shinedown.....I went to one of their shows back in 2019. I wore a Ghost tee shirt. Met the guys after the show and 3 out of the 4 of them mentioned my shirt and raved about Ghost. The only one who didn't was the guitar player Zack.
@@fourstringgirl lol..not surprised. He is an ass actually…thinks he is better than he is. Oh well. Good for you! Love it 😊
@@ericreed9201 bingo!
Impressive head nodding for four minutes. Well worth watching.
twenties was also like that for me.. the entire album amazing.. then that song.. which threw me.. i can tolerate it now lol.
You should watch the side stories of them they are funny
Tobias Forge based this song on the Bible verse, Job 10.1 “I loathe my very life; therefore I will give free rein to my complaint and speak out in the bitterness of my soul.
I would love to see you react to How Ghost Writes a Song from Trey Xaviers channel. It's hilarious! This guy is so talented! He made this parody, stars in it and dresses up like Ghost and the Ghouls, played all the instruments and writes a fricken great song that sounds just like something Ghost would sing!! Sooo cool. 👍😁
If you like a bit of a twist with their music you should react to the album 7 inches of Satanic Panic. It’s only two songs, but they are such a groovy 70’s vibes. Especially Mary on a Cross. Ever since that song got popular on TikTok I’ve been hooked ✨
Is there a bad Ghost song? Anyone? I love everything they have done, my little guilty pleasure.
At 3:25 when the guitar matches the drum fill it sits me down.
Love Will Find a Way - Yes Song
Great song, reminds me a lot of Alice Coopers Poison
This song is at least as good as any hard rock released in the 80s. I had a friend try to claim there was no good rock music anymore...and I included this song in a litany of stuff I shared with him.
You do know Meliora and Prequelle are the 3rd and 4th albums right?
Right now Ghost is my favourite band, but Faith No More is a very close second!
Kiss the go go goat /Amanda in Sweden 🤗
Reminds me of Alice cooper POISON
my favorite band is ghost eheh
I enjoyed your reaction :) so far i liked Square Hammer and the other song where in the video a young girl is at a place with a stage and Tobias sings to her or something like that :) Im not a big fan as of yet, but more of a mere listener of the band :)
This song sounds so Alice Cooper to me, and I love that SO MUCH
And m favourite band is ghost
5 of your top 12 videos are Ghost reactions. Will you get around to doing any more?
Everything I do is either by request or new songs, so if no one requests it then I won't be jumping on it
Best band
Humanitys Last Breath
&
Vildhjarta
.. Your Poison .. Poison running through my viens .. Your poison ....
check out Absolution, Satan prayer, Con Clavi Con Dio, ritual
Their harmonies tight and powerful as FK!!!
I know this band spillways is amazing
Thank you for loving my comment ❤️🤗
go back and check out "mary on a cross" its amazing
I wish they'd go back to at least making a couple really heavy songs per album..
Foreigners Cold As Ice , followed by The Darkness's I Believe in a Thing Called Love riffs followed by ...............all been heard before, how about something original guys. Sounds like a Mash up Tribute track.
I hear more similarities to their song Witch Image off of Prequelle here
He's sort of right about that one riff that's deep underneath everything, it's KIND OF similar to the main Square Hammer riff. But not exactly. Tobias has said he likes to borrow from himself when it works for the song.
NIghtwish
it's a rich man's world
Not throwback to their early stuff. Listened to their first 2, 3 albums? This is def rather an evolution of their later sound!
No your not correct about the 3 songs are in this song or what not. Just being honest. Been a fan since infestessumam. I do like how you enjoy them as i do. This song to me is a bit more modernized influenced from music back in the day like the 70s 80s.
I very much disagree, there’s nothing 80’s about this song or any song on the new album. It appears 80ish to anyone under 40 because they missed the 80’s. Ghost is the band the world needed at the right time. Tobis is a musical rock n roll genius.
@@Vel_D no not exactly, the comment suggested that the younger generation doesn't know what true sunset strip 80's hair metal actually sounds like. Such as Dokken, Cinderella, Trixter, Kix, White Lion, Etc. Just knowing a song or two from the big three of the 80's doesn't mean you know Hair metal when you hear it.. And I can say without a doubt, being 50 years old, there are very very very few young people under 40 who can successfully name a song let alone the album of some of the best hair metal bands... Sorry, just proven facts that become more apparent with each additional generation gap...
@@Vel_D Also, I was unaware of Ghost until 6 months ago. The Satanic thing isn't my gig, but I got hooked because of the mastery and composition of the music. Tobis is exactly what hard rock needed at the right time. But they're not 80's he's something new and fresh... And I like it...
I am curious as you lived through the 80s, I feel like the keyboards remind me of a lot of the 80s stuff we listen to on the channel while the riffs are more 70s/80s. Because something about this reminds me of the 80s for sure and I believe its the keyboards.
@@antonreactstorock I think the piano as it pertains to Ghost songs are exactly that, a continuous part of the song. Not for, example, November Rain, Home Sweet Home or Warrant’s very popular 1988 hit ‘I saw red’. These 80’s hits utilize the piano as an introduction our accompanying piece/instruments or when played live as a Backing or filling instrument. Which Guns n Roses is famous for (Dizzy Reid). Ghost utilizes the piano in a more traditional method, as we her in modern popular music (Alicia Keys). Where it carries the melody and verse throughout the score. Tobis is a master composer who knows how to stack and blend tone, melody and rhythm into one wall of sound. I must stand by my original statement, Ghost is not 80’s not at all, it’s new and fresh. Thanks again
20's is not a favorite of mine
but, ghost has been my favorite band now for at least 5 years
Not a fan
That's fine, at the same time announcing it is unneeded.
I just discovered Ghost and I love them.
Una pésima copia del pop-rock de los 80', nada nuevo de una banda mediocre!

Don't be fooled, Ghost are not an organic band, they are a corporate theatrical production with interchangeable musicians and vocalists hence the masks and this is not Tobias Forge on lead vocal, think Lloyd Weber and Cats.
