Like others ma have mentioned, the game is kinda Persona like. You collect the demons to give you added stats and spells and you do hangouts with the party members to go through their stories and unlock some skills for them. I played it all the way through recently and it felt well worth it.

I would say it’s more than similar to Persona… the main combat and social systems are identical. But in a good way

Yup I bought an ROG ALLY specifically as a "lie down in bed and play turn based JRPGs" machine. They're just cozy. Cool looking little game.

I had a ton of fun with Bloomtown. A pixelated mini-persona adventure in such a charming setting. It was an awesome comfy weekend binge.

The one aspect of the game you did not mention is the demon catching element which effects what spells your party has. My only real beef with the game is that Bosses are strong against all elements - so your strat for every boss is literally the same where you try to get in some debuffs / heals while doing normal attacks. So honestly the demon catching can almost be totally overlooked.
Other than that I actually really liked the game. It tapped into some core nostalgia for me running around as a kid going to friends houses etc. Well worth the 22 bucks or what ever.

Finished this game few days ago and really enjoyed it. I think it's fair to say that it takes a lot of inspiration from the mechanics from the Persona series, especially Persona 5 imo

I clicked on yt, while i waiting to Steam to install the game, and i saw Mort video about it, its perfect timing. Really liked Graveyard Keeper from the same developer, i think this will not be a disappointment.

I’m on the second dungeon and man this game is so good. It’s somehow a perfect blend of JRPG and oldschool western CRPG.

For me - One of the best games this year. It's "comfy", charming, very well made and PERFECT on Switch. It just hit the right spot for me right now. Love it.

Really enjoyed this game. Heavy inspired by Persona, but doesn't take an 80-100 hour investment.

I don't know where else to put this, but I haven't seen you mention it in your 'games I intend to check out' bit. A game called "Monomyth" just dropped on Steam EA (also on GOG), aiming to be a modern-ish Arx Fatalis/Ultima Underworld/King's Field style thing. It shows a lot of promise from a single developer, operating under the name "Rat Tower Games" (currently at 100 reviews it's hovering at 95% on Steam).
If you haven't heard of it yet, I commend you to checking it out. It has a demo which offers you a vertical slice from midway through the game (according to the developer). Certain skills seem to have little point at that stage - conversation, for example - and the whole thing is decidedly an alpha, but it's still a reasonable demonstration of the game's potential.
Edit: Derp, just saw someone else mentioned it far down the comments on your 'what's left in 2024' clip.

A fun, interesting, and well designed experience. I quite enjoyed it, and I think Lazy Bear really does good when they try...or Different Sense, I'm not sure who made what here. That said, LB has some good games under their belt, but always weird ones, and for once, I can say this one was stable, as it never crashed on me, and ran well.
The other thing is that the story and characters made sense, and it DOES have an ending...much as I like the two Punch Club games, and most especially Graveyard Keeper(2018's most inaccurate graveyard management simulator), they don't really have endings, just points where they told their last gag, and leave.
That being admitted, the stories they tell are good enough to make up for it...or rather weird enough to do so that they hold your interest, and in the case of GK, they did something interesting with the way the plot is presented to the player vs how the player character is motivated for it(that being he doesn't care one wiff about anything, due to the nature of what's happening).
Mind, this was a different genre than either of those, and it does everything it does well...save maybe that creature capture mechanic, as complained about in the comments. That is obtuse and sometimes frustrating, though whether its better or worse than the card draw in Persona 3 is up to the player.

Despite the pixel art style which isn't my jam, this game sounds like it's doing a lot of cool stuff. Might have to check out the demo, at least! Thank you for checking it out!

I don't think this game is a rip off and can understand it was inspired by jrpgs, but this just felt like a worse persona game set in the 60s, down to the music. Then little things like the itemization and icons for those items all being the same. It just wasn't for me.
