      If you're still being bullied & abused as an adult, your picker is broken. Stay away from abusers. You probably seek them out subconsciously. I found my awesome hubby now, because I dated someone the complete opposite of anyone I would've dated. He's my best friend & a great step dad to my kids.

      My sweet, beautiful children were bullied and one ended up in intensive care. Their suffering went beyond what I could imagine. I empathized, sympathized, advocated and probably made no difference but I certainly tried. Having a bird’s eye view of bullying and the appalling indifference of schools, coaches, communities, etc., my heart goes out to you. There is something cruel in many people. Even if it’s Darwinian, anyone claiming to be civilized and bound to Judeo-Christian faith, the Golden Rule, similar ethics in other spiritual practices must be dedicated to overcoming any such drive and teaching that to our youngest as soon and as frequently as possible…not only to reduce the kind of resentment and horrific consequences it can drive but: because. bullying. is. cruel. and. wrong.

    I hope Stephen has learned to forgive his 6 year old self who opened the door. It is so tragic to watch his ongoing struggles. His mother would undoubtedly want him to live a happy life, and wouldn't hold her children to blame at all.

      @janaa.k.3609 9 місяців тому +20

      I agree. I understand his point of view especially as it occurred to him at age six and made such an impact it has remained a core belief. If you are out there Stephen, I’m a mother hurt accidentally several times by my young children. Of course, I never suffered anything approaching your mother’s experience but as a mother, I’ve no doubt she would never ever blame you anymore than I blamed my children for innocent missteps of childhood. Children are our youngest, most innocent learners with developing not mature brains. It takes years, even decades for babies to become thoughtful, careful adults. Conferring “adulthood” on those age 18 is even premature if one looks seriously at more recent neuro developmental studies. The brain’s neuroplasticity extends forever but its most significant growth occurs in the first 30 years. At six, you could dress, use the bathroom, maybe tie your shoes and start reading but following rules like not opening the door to strangers is not as simple as it sounds especially when the stranger is a cunning adult predator, thus suffer children coast to coast and around the world in the hands of adults determined to do harm. As the reply giver above hopes, I do, too: trust no loving Mom wants you to suffer at all, certainly not more than you already have from your loss. I wish you peace wherever you are.

      The irony of him blaming himself when honestly it’s a parental fail. I have 9. 8 of which are grown and until 16 they knew, “I don’t care if Jesus knocks, you better not touch that door. Don’t even respond with WHO IS IT. Come get Me or Dad or a sib over 16”. In 34 years, only on child did and they were 15 and it was my mother. Still grounded for a week cause dammit I said not even Jesus and although I love my mother dearly, Jesus she is not!! So to your point, I pray he finds peace cause it was never his fault. Ever!!!!

      I don’t know. Serial killers know that one day they will be caught. The fear of being caught seems to be blunted in a serial killer. That’s way many of them taunt the public and the police. They WANT to be linked to their victims. They WANT to have the chance to talk, and lay claim to, their crimes. But not all serial killers want to be infamous. So, yes, you’re correct. Some of them are most assuredly shaking in their boots!

      Seriously. My mom had a cousin that was murdered in 1985. I remember seeing a pic of her when I was a teenager @ my late grandfather's, thinking it was my mom bc they looked so similar. Her/her b/f awoke to a masked man at the foot of their bed with a knife. Tied them both up but left with her. They found her a few miles away. She had been stabbed to death & s/a. Long story short in 2021 one of these genealogy websites got a hit to someone in their bloodline. It came down to a dude serving 2 life sentences in Michigan (for similar crimes) He claims he didn't do it, but his DNA was at the scene. This happened in Jacksonville, Fl.. So much time had passed they thought her case would never be solved

    I was an escort living from hotel to motel before I went to jail, found out I was pregnant and got sober. My mom was always worried sick about me.. she was always worried I would OD. But what scared her even more was someone hurting me. A client hurting me. It used to scare me too. I knew so many girls desperate for money that would see any guy that called them... not me. I was choosey. If I got a bad vibe.. I wouldn't see them. I didn't do out calls unless I built a rapport and they were a regular. I know anything can happen even when they came to my hotel room but there were usually cameras in the hallways and I felt there was a lesser chance of me being hurt if they had to come see me. I'm glad to be away from that life now with my beautiful son. The only close call I had was having a knife pulled on me one time when I went to a guys hotel room. I ended up puking from the adrenaline and ran out of there in nothing but a bra. These women must have been so scared...

      My profession has taken me into many highly “successful “ and wealthy people’s homes. The ones who are too miserly to pay for housekeepers are often filthy. I’ll never forget one mansion that I went into. An elderly lady lived alone in it and it reeked of death. The lady was strange but polite. Something just wasn’t right in that mansion.

      Of course they have access to lawyers and others in relation to their case.
      The law was passed to protect ignorant girls/women with a twisted father complex from marrying psycho killers.
      The case of Peter Madsen, who killed and departed a Swedish journalist (Kim Wahl) in his self made U-boat, is what set it in motion. Crazy females fell in love with him.
      I'm sure you experience the same in America - The night stalker case for instance
      The channel "This Chapter" on YoyTube made a video about the Kim Wahl case.

    What an extraordinarily strange person and what immeasurable grief and terror he poisoned our world with. My deepest sympathy to those personally touched, my deepest respect for the law enforcement and criminal justice professionals and jurors who persisted to remove this predator, and my esteem for the 48 Hours team for bringing its perspective to this and all their reports. I am a journalist as well (although less distinguished.) Being one permits me to appreciate how much work and what hard decisions go into crafting such a time-limited report. The depraved minds of people like Dennis Rader are intensely complex and only worth investigating to help us as a society cotton faster to their presence, stop their destruction and, hopefully, some day, discover and reroute them before they ever hurt a soul, human or otherwise. So sad and worse, so wasteful, cruel and unnecessary that anyone deliberately poison our world, which has enough natural disasters and challenges from disease.
