- I have a couple of sets of QoR Watercolor tubes, the 6 Set of Earth Colors and the 24 Set. I will be taking colors from each set to create my own custom palette, and then doing a piece with them!

This is very interesting. After seeing the QoR set in your previous video, I revisited my tiny 6 pan set that I got a while ago. I often consider building on that set, but I just can't justify the price versus what I already have for great sets. It was a surprise to see so much yellow in the 24 set. wow. The final piece really showcases the palette, like you said, and it looks fabulous. Great to see this and put my mind back on QoR and whether or not I should consider building a set. Thank you, Mark! I was surprised to see all the yellows, too! I'm pretty happy with the paints overall, but I think it may have been better for me to just buy individual colors open stock instead of getting the 24 set. I got them a while ago, and I'm kind of surprised I didn't notice before I bought the set! Lol. If you do decide to expand what you have, I recommend just starting with a few must-have colors and going from there! Thank you for watching!! I hope things are well with you too!! 💖

Thank you, Rob!! 💖 They are great paints. I first got turned on to them years ago when I got a free Dot card from Jerry's Artarama because I had such a large order, lol. Then I got the Earth Colors set, and it just spiraled from there! Haha! Yeah, the post art hunger is real! That and needing to use the bathroom. It's funny how even basic needs go by the wayside when we are in the zone!
Great looking piece! And best color swatch page ever, the leaves are a great idea. The Dioxazine purple and Indigo are gorgeous colors! Great tip on using colored pencils for masking.

Looks like you will have the ability to mix some beautiful greens! I love QoR. Great palette and your sunflower came out amazing. I just swatched some of the new colors, I’m still waiting on the rest to arrive but so far I am loving them. I will text you some pics of the colors and can send you some samples of the new colors if you want to test them out.

I just began using QOR colors a few months ago and some my FAVORITE colors come in their Urban Sketch set... Quin Red, Cobalt Teal and Paynes Gray. I thought Winsor+Newton's PG was superior but QOR replaced it!
The paynes gray is beautiful! I haven't tried any of the Winsor & Newton watercolors yet, so it's nice to hear the comparison.
When I see your notification of this review, I said, yay 🎉🎉🎉 😂 because I was waiting for this review!!! My favorite color of QOR watercolors are, dioxazine purple, quinacridone magenta, cobalt blue, quinacridone gold, and green gold, but I would like to have a different green too. I have 12 of them, the high chroma set, and the basic set. And they're wonderful! They're vibrant, concentrate, and very pigmented. They're staining too, but, it's ok with that. I have Winsor and Newton, and St. Petersburg white nights, they're very good quality too. Of these three brands of watercolors, starting with the best, for me of course, is: 1. QOR, 2. Winsor and Newton and 3. St. Petersburg watercolors. In color range, St. Petersburg and Winsor and Newton have a wide variety of colors. In making mixes easier, St. Petersburg and Winsor are good for that. QOR, you have to mix a little more to get your color, that's my opinion. Thank you very much for this review, because I don't think I'm going to buy the set of 24. Because I think the color range should be wider. And my advice to you is, don't buy more art supplies, remember, you already have a lot😂 God, what are we going to do with this art addiction! lol! Shana, thank you for this! I send you a hug!
Lol, I'm so glad you were excited for this review, Claritza! I also love the QoR colors that you listed as your favorites! I agree, though. I wish QoR had a better color assortment. I was looking at their chart and thought it was lacking a bit. Though I haven't looked into their new colors too deeply yet. That being said, I love color mixing, so it's not a huge deal for me. It will be a while before I am able to shop for art supplies, especially if it's just for fun and not just replacing my most used colors. Which is fine, because as you said, I have plenty of other supplies to use! Lol! I haven't tried the Winsor & Newton or White Nights, but I have heard good things about both brands! The next watercolor I will use will probably be the set of Mission Gold Single Pigments that Jason got me. I will need to make a palette with that soon!

And, the mixing, probably it's not a problem, but I'm very impatient 😅 and it's ok, that you buy all art supplies you want it, I want to make you laugh a little bit. And, yeah, the three of them are very good watercolors, but, I want to see the Missions Gold review, because many Artist use it. I don't know why, I didn't buy it, instead of QOR🤔... and I agree, if they make more new color in the line of QOR?...

Beautiful painting!! You definitely captured the sunshine ☀️ I have the 12 set and really love it, though I don’t use it often enough. I wonder why they rated their Phthalo Blue pigment as LF2, that’s why you had to take out so many colours...
Thank you! Yeah, I thought that was strange, too. A few of the lightfast ratings surprised me! I mean, a lightfast 2 is still pretty good, but for the purposes of this palette, I was bummed about the Phthalo blue.

I love my qor colors, but I am not a big fan of sets. Especially in their 24 set, which should be enough colors for a pallet, are missing some of their best colors. I prefer the Pyrrols and Quin red light (PV19) over the Cadmium reds and the Scarlet. I am very concerned about lightfastness in general, but I have seen UA-cam videos with swatches for a year in extreme sun and none of them faded. So I am not too concerned about the “only” good lightfast rating. On their website they also show a table of and explain their own lightfast tests (including swatches). Really worth/interesting looking into it.
Yeah, I agree when it comes to the selection of colors in their 24 set! I feel like they could have had a better variety overall. It's good to know about their lightfastness and them not fading for over a year in extreme sun! I still plan to use those colors in my sketchbook. I will look more into how they do their lightfast tests. Thank you!
