    I swear my videos are getting progressively longer, lol! I've added a couple of time stamps in the description for the actual swatching and painting parts. :-)

    Hi Becky! It’s not the main binder, aquazol that’s causing the gummy stickiness. The Aquazol is replacing the Gum Arabic. It’s the humectant, traditionally simple syrup or honey but now often inexpensive glycerin to help the paint retain moisture (especially in pan paints). All watercolor paint needs to have this important ingredient in order to rewet and distribute the pigment easily in water because Gum Arabic or Aquazol , although being water soluble, it dries hard and is very difficult to disperse.

      Thankfully most of them are fine now, it is just the Cobalt Violet which refuses to combine properly! I have the buyer's remorse on that tube. 😂

    I bought a 24 tube set of QoR and put them into pans over a month ago but find there still tacky they haven’t dried hard at all, and I’m in rural Victoria

      Yes they will probably stay like that; even a few years after posting this video, my paints are still a little on the sticky side. Better that way because then they rewet more easily than paints that go super dry! Plus all of this endless rain isn't helping, lol.

    'Splooge' it off. LOL. Becky, you might not know that word has connotations - here in the U.S. anyway. And if you do know, then... go you! :) P.S. I'm loving your videos and slowly catching up on your content.

      Hahaha! I was using it as the innocent definition "to spill" but yes it has multiple meanings, and we Aussies use them all interchangeably. 🤣 You may also hear me say rubber instead of eraser, as that's what we used to call them growing up (not knowing the American meaning), and I forget myself when I get chatting on video. Gotta love international slang! ♥️

    Hi Becky! I hope you are doing well in the "antipodes" :) After a year, I would like to know if the famous viridian green had dried like a rock and impossible to rewet and reuse. Not only in the pan but inside the tube. I think if you store them (tubes) correctly in a fresh and cool place, there must not be any bad surprise, but who knows! I've just bought the High Chroma set and I think I want to get the 12 tube set too :) Next month is my birthday and I want something special ;) After some time using them, do you like them of do you prefer to use other brands? They are more expensive than Daniel Smith here in Europe. Thanks for this fantastic video. Greetings from Canary Islands!

      Hi there, thank you for your excellent question! I just went and looked now, and all of the pans are still looking fresh, with a few minor cracks in a couple of the colours. The viridian looks to be the driest but no cracks in mine, and I just rewet it after not using it for quite a few months now. The colour picked up with no issues or needing to spray it with water first, though it is naturally not as high tinting as other greens. It is a very nice version though and is much less annoying than other viridians I've tried! The one I've had the least success with in Qor's range is Cobalt Violet which keeps splitting. Viridian in the tube is still nice and juicy, with no signs of drying up. I keep my tubes in a tin, in a drawer so they stay in a fairly stable environment. And Melbourne has a dry climate also. I hope this helps....overall I think the Qor paints are really lovely and aside from Cobalt Violet, no issues at all. I hope you have a lovely birthday! ❤

    Hi Becky, do you use the Qor Watercolours as you primary watercolours? And where do you get it from?

    • @BeckyTregear
      @BeckyTregear  3 роки тому +1

      My husband gave them to me for Christmas last year. I also found single tubes at theartshop.com.au and this is one of many palettes I have, which I tend to cycle through. I'll never use them all, but I keep trying, lol!

    Are the Qor paints lightfast?

    • @BeckyTregear
      @BeckyTregear  3 роки тому

      Yes, most of them are rated the highest lightfastness (Excellent) with some coming in at Very Good and Good. I have updated my description with a link to Qor's colour chart which details all of that information :-)

    How did they dry? Too hard or no?

    • @BeckyTregear
      @BeckyTregear  4 роки тому +1

      Not too bad, quite similar to Daniel Smith or Schmincke, harder than M. Graham or Sennelier. A few have cracked a bit, but all are easy to rewet, even the viridian. The only one causing issues is the Cobalt Violet, which did not mix well with the binder in the first place.
