Is is possible to know what is going on with your engine by just checking your oil? Can you actively monitor your engine health by adding this one upgrade to a stock Harley part? Answers to these and other questions are all covered in this short video. Watch until the end to see how much metal is in the oil on the 2021 Road Glide Special. Like, share, comment and subscribe. Thanks for watching and commenting. Its about $160. From my perspective, it's a small investment to keep your oil clean and free of metal debris. Happy New Year and ride safe. 👍
Well, some of the best ways to prevent catastrophic engine failure. 1) Stop thinking that not changing your oil every 5000 mile is a good idea. 2) Stop modifying your bike. 3) Stop riding in an abusive manner. 4) Stop using cheap oils. Ect.
Another great advice... two magnets are always better than one... I think the real question to ask is... are you willing to risk the life of your engine for not having a second magnet? The price is high but how much does a new engine cost us? Congratulations my friend 9:18
Wish it had the temperature instead of the logo that way it's multi function and justifies the price tag more. Oil temp & magnet to keep oil clean would be a very nice dipstick. I currently have a oil temp dipstick for my Sportster and I just love it but wish I had the magnet tip as well. I wouldn't recommend a digital temp and prefer the needle gauge as it's more reliable & maintenance free meaning no battery needed or digital screen to worry about.

I’ve subscribed The simple reason Harley does put on from the factory is the cost Harley does what they have to do to make money selling Bikes Besides that fact many riders do no maintenance on their bikes themselves they basically just ride them they depend on shops to change oil and keep up with their maintenance
Small Investment for piece of mind,Harley Would probably have a bigger price tag if they included...But lesser one if you had and were forewarned by noticing major particles .. Happy New Year🙏👍
Figurati just came out with they’re line of dipsticks after I replaced all of mine with the fueling dipsticks, but I changed fluids in my bikes myself,so I definitely keep an eye on what’s happening, figurati great dipsticks 👍👍
I learned from experience on my TC 88 road king that a flickering Oil pressure light is NOT to be taken lightly. I mis understood the condition for just being a wonky sensor, but no, it was, in fact a failing oil pump. I came crazy close to destroying my engine. As it is, I did cause some scoring in one cylinder and it consumes a quart of oil every 3,000 miles or so. If you ever see that light on, look into it ASAP and do not ride it.
Subscriber here. Thanks for sharing this, I didn't even know this existed. There's nothing wrong with having double the protection to catch any metal. I just might buy one for my twin cam. And I will mention it to my friends that ride. I wonder if they have this available for cars? Thanks, enjoyed the video.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I think of it like having a belt and suspenders. I appreciate your continued support to the channel. Happy New Year and ride safe. ✌️

I always run a K&P reusable oil filter it also has a strong earth magnet and a stainless steel mesh filter that you can see what it has caught. S 4 is the size have one on all 3 of my m8 motors
Anything that helps trap contaminants is always a plus. Is it “necessary” well, that’s up to each user/owner and how comfortable they may be with what the MoCo engineers gave you. Stay safe everyone 🤜🏼
The following comment reflects my personal opinion. It is based on my more than 40 years of professional experience as a diagnostic technician for AMG and Mercedes-Benz. But everyone is allowed to do what they want with their motorcycle. I just want to make you think. This magnetic dipstick is just as useless as the magnetic oil drain plug. The problem is that the essential materials of the bearing points of the rotating components and also the pistons etc. are not made out of steel, so that no steel abrasion occurs when they are gradually destroyed. Plain bearing shells are made of non-ferrous metal, such as bronze, or of multi-layered layers of various non-ferrous metals. A magnet is of little use here. If you are concerned about the well-being of your engine, you should pay attention to running noises and, if in doubt, remove and disassemble the oil filter and look at the filter paper and the oil itself. If you find a certain amount of "silver or golden" shiny chips or a layer that looks like metallic glitter, then it is probably a bearing bush that is literally wearing itself out and losing material. You won't find this abrasion on magnets of any kind. Therefore, it is not really a good idea to buy this dipstick. Only the seller is delighted with this. 😉
Thanks for watching and commenting. All I can tell you is you generally will see metal shavings on the drain plug and I definitely saw metal flakes on the magnetic dip stick. My perspective is if I can keep that stuff from circulating through the engine then I feel better about the longevity of the engine. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍
@@HDVIBE I was addressing the original post where the guy seems to think that Harleys have Babbit bearings. He is correct about cutting the filter, though. that's your best indication of your engine's health. At least that is where I go before doing any exploratory surgery on a customer's bike that I may, or may not, get paid for.
If you found this video and product useful and can justify the cost, you are better off taking your Harley to an independent service center (AKA - non-Harley dealer).
Hi Bill. That is an interesting concept, and I have heard of those. I don't have any firsthand experience with them, though. It would be interesting to have the magnetic and oil temp built into one dip stick. Thanks for your continued support and Happy New Year. 👍

It would have been nice to see that magnet thing actually pick up the knife you can tell that it was a clip like edited even if it took two attempts to lift it up as long as you lift it up was good enough another words I don't really know if that picked up the knife but it looks like it held it
It picked it up in one attempt and held it no problem as shown. The point to be taken is it held a large object that weighs over 3 ounces...so it is strong enough to catch very light flakes of metal. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Happy New Year and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
I would not want to give up my A1 vented dipstick on my131cvo roadglide. But adding a rare earth magnet to it and the oil plug is a $3 @harbor freight hack that sucks any metal big or microscopic and keeps it away from the oil flow...$200 for that is what's wrong with HD and after market companies...😮😮
Why doesn’t HD do this? Same reason they don’t make all their bikes CVO’s or make Screamin’ Eagle parts standard. Cost to the factory. HD may be the only successful company whose business model is to make their products as cheaply as they can, then try to upsell their own branded, better parts. Side note: Thanks for the videos, I do like your channel’s info. I’m planning on getting both the Figurati dipstick as well as a Koso digital temperature dipstick before spring.

Flo reusable oil filters have a magnet inside them😅
Thanks for sharing. I would imagine those are more than a few dollars...lol.
Now all we need is a little sensor attached to the magnet that lights up the "check magnets for metal fragments in the oil light".
