Without going overboard on nitpicks like i did on the ww2 review, i do feel i need to mention a Very Important Detail With Shaolin and Attack's GNS machines Specifically: There is A Terrible Game Breaking Bug with the Arcade Games where you can't Retry them at All if you Fail ONCE, The Machine Goes Blank and you can't Restart the Machine. Spaceland, Rave, and Beast Don't have this Issue, But Shaolin and Attack Do. Plus, With the Increased Difficulty in Attack's GNS, it Makes it Borderline Unfair to have One Chance to Complete the 2nd Hardest GNS in the Game and have to go through all the Tedious steps again just to Retry it. FORTUNATELY, there is a Workaround: If you Pop Skull Hacker and Fail That Before Completing Skull 6, you Fix the Bug and have Infinite Retries To Get The Achievement if you Have the MAD Ammo. (Did i mention Shaolin and Attack Introduced GNS Achievements?)
@@Stanley557 I'd understand if the doors were dirt cheap like Spaceland and Rave, but it feels you'd need to take out a mortgage on your house just to open 2 doors in the map. It'd balance itself out eventually!
@@Stanley557 Personally for me I haven't been able to get to that refined of a strategy for AotRT, but it still feels baffling to make so many doors expensive
I've never agreed with the critique of the maps' graphical presentation. I've played this map God knows how many times, and I've never noticed anything indicating it was an accident or the product of a rushed development. I've always seen it as an homage to the cheaply made and produced B-movies that are being parodied here. Color film was still very expensive to shoot on and make prints of, so lower quality color film was often used, and the prints tended to fade away after time. This can even be seen in shows like Elvira MotD and MST:3K. Many of the recordings they got their hands on were practically bleached with how washed out the colors could be. I can't prove that, but hey, food for thought.
I loved this aspect of this map and I was surprised when he viewed it negatively. Before even going in to the map the poster from the selection screen says "Color by CinemaColor" which is a very obvious homage to the first widely used form of film coloring, Technicolor. The ability to change the map's color in the TV station is a direct reference to the three-strip color process used in films from the 1930s to the early 1950s which used three films (red, blue, and green) overlayed together to simulate colors. It is definitely intentional and that's why it looks so pale and washed out, because Infinity Ward decided to filter the map into three main colors, which obviously can't create a wide range of bright, neon, or atmospheric colors. I love that aspect about the map and the time Infinity Ward out in to integrating it in to the easter egg and the overall feel of a cheesy 1950s monster horror movie.
Excellent video as always. Attack of the Radioactive Thing is a really special map to me. During IW's lifespan it was the map that was advertised the least (from my memory) so I remember being blindsided by it in 2017. But because I didn't get Infinite Warfare until like 2022, I never played it. And because zombie youtubers are usually allergic to playing anything that's not Treyarch zombies, I didn't really see anyone talk about it, but just assumed it was bad because internet told me so. Then I actually played it and, honestly I really like it. It's got its issues for sure but training with the MAD by the motel is just so much fun. Sidenote, I'm waaaay over thinking this and there's no way this is true, but maybe Crogzilla and the Croglets sharing the Cryptid sounds was initial. What I mean is, a lot of 50s-60s monster (or kaiju films) reuse audio from other films like Godzilla. Mostly the really cheap films. So maybe the idea was that Willard Wyler simply reused audio from one of his earlier films, the Extinction maps. Idk, it was more than likely a combo between reusing assets to save budget and to tease the Cryptids in Beast but I like my idea.
Btw, the reason you think the Propane Trap doesn't work is because the gas isn't what damages the zombies. It's the fire. Don't walk them between the tank and the fire pit. Walk them around the fire pit.
Do you think the map looks bad because they have all the filters you can change through for the Easter eggs steps from red blue and green and changes the numbers on the wall and board? I always assumed that was the reason the map looks So bad lol to compensate for that filter step change.
If you were ever to do this Easter egg again, I found a recent guide to the map where this guy made a complete cheat sheet for the chemical step, making it 100x easier to complete it. Even though it feels a little wrong after doing the chemical step fully 3-4 times I am more then happy to use it
@dictatorkenji yeah I've seen that guide before. The one I showed in the video is still the one i use today and the one I use as reference as it's what I started out using so I felt it was apt to use it to describe my experience as I felt it helped just enough while still showing the flaws in the egg without trivalizing it
41:55 wanna add something to this point. Yes, there is no natural growth in gameplay, but I would say that the gameplay does showcase a direct growth of the player, as each round pases they get stronger and each match they get better at the game. They could have tied it so as the DLC season continues, the characters get more confident in themselves, just like the players
i always took the weird bad way the map looks as a way for the developers to make the map feel more like an older movie of the time. maybe i'm just making excuses for how bad it looks
I remember expecting a 60s map that would be associated with space or moon or something, but I really enjoyed attack on release and now I will go back.. great video ❤
It would've been cool if they made the map a movie set, like if you could see the walls with a painted background and tell your in a building instead of try to make it seem like the map takes place in a larger world
