      Dear Emily,
if you read this please seriously put it into consideration to start your own platform through which you share your wisdom and thoughts. This could be through a podcast, but it could also be a different channel that suits your lifestyle with the kids, like a blog, etc.
Your voice is important and healing for the world.

I am officially an Emily Baldoni fan now! Please give her more of a platform to speak more often, if she wants it! Because this is really important and valuable to everyone. mothers voices need to be heard! And please really LISTEN to what she has shared, and actually take action in all the little and big ways, daily, in the every day, rather than JUST listening. I appreciate all of you so much. THanks all of you for making this podcast a thing and being willing to grow. Love x

@@mgtowmonk7044 truth is, and i don't like being negative and salty, but you're right, i see these kinds of comments by women and society alot, as if the world is only composed of men, or as if women are infallible, and it's just men causing issues, they don't want to shoulder the weight of having to change things, of carrying a boulder and going uphill with it, and soceity tries to shield them and pawns issues to men.

Yeah, that part hit me too. I'm a man and I had the role reversal here and I felt exactly like Emily on this one. I'm not sure if my female partner has any idea what I went through either. So I think it's not a male thing necessarily, it's more a role thing. There are lots of stereotypical things that do run kind of true. But woman are 100 percent guilty of doing the same things when the roles are reversed. This really triggers me. Because I've done both. I worked and provided and felt all the despair that goes with needing to work and wanting to be with your family and then I chose to be with my family but got absolutely none of the support from my partner that I expected. I felt like I was being resented or that I didn't deserve to be in that position. I'm still very upset by the whole thing. Roles have reversed again but I'm just very disappointed in my partners effort in all this. Now I do all the work which I hate and all the house work and I don't even see my partner anymore. I almost feel like I'd do better on my own at this stage. I do honestly feel like my partner has inherited some patriarchal hangups. All of the expectations of roles and stereotypes and none of the support and recognition when these roles get reversed. I think the Most important thing is to interpret your relationship with this whole thing. Most men are trying their best.

My husband and I watched maybe 15 mins and had to pause this episode. We ended up having a deeeeeeep conversation around the first 15 mins of this that lasted about 1-2 hrs. 😌 If you want to learn more about your partner have them listen to this and then ask their opinion on the points they're making! 😉👍👌 Forever learning thank you 💕

WOW, I love how transparent, inspiring and relatable the Baldonis are! Mothers and their work are not only underrated but consciously and continuously discredited by society, and I'm so grateful to see such a powerful woman like Emily speak up for them - because usually the norm, like she said, is "no one wants to hear my story". So glad you invited her on the podcast! Love her voice, her wisdom and how she creates spaces for growth and understanding!

@@WeAreManEnough _"Yes, we need to reach men first and foremost"_
Yeah & how's that working out for you mate? As far as I can tell, I'm literally the ONLY man here in the comments. Every single other comment under this video has been from a women & I think one teenage guy. The fact that you are (supposedly) so desperate to "reach men first" yet hilariously fail to do so time & time again & only seem to pander & attract a near exclusively female audience speaks volumes about your true motivations & outlook on men & masculinity.
Here's a tip: if you can't manage to attract a particular audience, in this case men, despite your best intentions, it's because you give off extremely anti-male vibes. If you had a shred of intellectual honesty, you'd get ACTUAL MEN on the show. Or just people who don't subscribe to your radical left, misandrist, feminist ideology. And by "real men", I don't mean "alfa chads". I mean, actual MEN, not women, who aren't part of your simp cult, and are willing to debate these ideas... again, women who disagree with your cult would be fine too, except it would be harder for women to speak on masculinity, just as it would be difficult for men to speak on/dictate femininity for obvious reasons.

What she explained at 31:26 is the absolute truth. The thing is, women are defined based on men and it is what presents an identity
crisis for many women, especially in the reproductive age. You know, we are asked so often when will you marry, your name, your child's name, and so on to the point where women become invisible. Thank You for putting it so well and I am sorry that you had to go through that experience.

It’s a really interesting point and valid. Personally it can also be a way to get all these issues, concerns, etc. out into the open and start making positive changes.
For instance, when I first listened to this podcast, I didn’t realize the data showed that fathers are seen as the most and mothers as the least trustworthy in the workplace. Even if the context is someone is saying that data as a way of canceling me, I view it as an opportunity to learn and grow, and the more times that is repeated by a female friend, the more often I will consider it before acting or making a snap judgment

Liz talking about dating has been my experience. I have been on dates with men where they don’t ask me any questions about me. Honestly I used that dynamic to decide this guy isn’t for me. I figured it was showing me his capacity to consider me as a human. I don’t want to teach my date, I’m not a teacher like that.

Definitely the best episode ever! There were so many important topics on the table. My favourite part (hard to choose one) was when Liz explained how we overemphasize fathers. In that moment I had to admit to myself that I was part of the problem, since as a woman, I have been often surprised by men/fathers doing their bare minimum. That's because it is so rare to see fathers doing something that automatically we say "Wow, he pays so much attention on his kids! As he comes home from work he is totally focused on talking with the kids, playing with them ect". This part of the podcast really makes me wonder that I should encourage such good behaviour (as Jamey said, to go from 1 to 3) yet keeping in mind that overemphasize could be counterproductive. Finally, as someone on the comment has already suggested, all these deep conversations on the podcast and reflections on those topics as well as Justin's book should really get translated as much as possible. Here in Italy, this book could represent a real earthquake yet it is necessary to bring some positive change on a cultural basis.

Honestly….I have seen ALL of your podcasts and have even shared it amongst my male circles who are embracing growth. I was begging internally that you would interview Emily, and holy s&$! this episode was THE MOST uncomfortable, yet so deeply felt and powerful to have seen the grace of all you four enter extremely deep issues that women have kept quiet for generations. The part that broke me open in tears was in minute 58 onwards when Emily spoke her (our) truth with such realness, utmost transparency and power that I cried hard (and I’m not even a mother yet). She explained so eloquently how and why women mother leaders would thrive and so witness hearing both of your journeys into this Union unfold was miraculous and sooooo refreshing. There was something that just hit different with this podcast; having two very strong women and two very opinionated and humble men truly put so many topics on the table that is necessary to hear for both parties. Justin, thank you so so much for allowing Emily to have a voice and share what so many woman face on the daily and yet, to radically be able to see you two men as husbands to show up better for your wives. I have always supported your Man Enough journey back from the HBO mini series, to the TedTalk, but this was on such another elevated level.

Ok a quick experience I had a couple of days ago. Husband and kids were in the car, and I had a huge cart of groceries. I took off my mask, loaded everything into the back of our SUV, took out a water and put it on top of the car, talking to my toddler and gave her her first cupcake, then cart was empty. It was so hot! Then out of nowhere this white haired, older, like in his 60's, man walked up to me asking if he could take my cart. He mumbled something about it but he was putting into the cart caddy area, whatever that's called. But it literally made me feel so good. It was so sweet to me. He noticed me. He came to make it easier for me. Chivalry. 💜

The biggest element within the Justin-Emily turbulent-early-years-dynamic was, I believe, not so much #gender but #culture. As a person who is fifteen years into a marriage with a man from an Eastern European culture, I can easily attest to the tension differing cultural expectations and norms can place on a relationship. You're at a severe disadvantage when not only do you need to learn how to connect to the opposite gender in a meaningful way, but you're also unaware of the socialization and cultural expectations that have been instilled in a person from another culture that THEY themselves are unable to easily identify. Cultural norms are often sub-conscious schema's an individual operates within. Culturally diverse relationships have extra complexity and I feel that trying to explain it entirely via the gender-lens limits the conversation to partial truths. Not all 'Western' cultures are the same in the same way not all African/Asian/European cultures are the same. It's something the modern world seems unable to recognize for fear of being seen as 'judgemental' in some way. Which is strange seeing as diversity is something quite celebrated on the international stage. And, yet, a singular relationship can show how diversity can be a challenge before it could truly become a strength within the bonds of love and respect.

Being a women and a mother in tech industry, I cannot emphasize enough on YOU will be lucky to hire mothers, they bring so much value. This really made me think about the work my mother did for us as a kid. It seems like most families don't raise kids to understand and value the work of keep a household running. As a kid I had no idea how many different chores my mom did to keep things going each week so I never valued her for it and I never thanked her for it. We can't appreciate what we don't see. Girls and boys need to be involved in housework so they grow up understanding that it is real work and part of normal life.

after all, this podcast here is giving something 'real' for us to hear and feel we never really get to, and emotionally just being there through all of your minds deeply gives me a space of a very different feeling and relief which I've wanted for quiet some time. it was different for me how it has really been listening to this being 19 years old and it wasn't about just only about the things you talked about, there was a lot more that goes into that commitment of putting everything out on the table and being able to find a place where things are real and to connect everything going from mind to heart.
this place has become somewhere I found emotional comfort so there was a lot more feeling that was attached with listening to this podcast that nothing else gives. what you guys do through this podcast is incredible and a lot more to all people who listen to it, lots of love to all of you

Love this, have watched twice now, and am beginning to share with friends. Quick note: the TEDtalk mentioned by Justin around 56:08 is by Michael Kimmel (not Kimball, as the CC transcription reads; searching for that name online didn't work well... just watched that and recommend it highly also). So great to hear these four tremendous people in conversation with one another, particularly Emily and Justin as a married couple being open and v honest about what works well and what doesn't in their marriage. The world needs and benefits so much from this type of honesty; immense gratitude to them. Anyone interested in the topic of honesty in marriage might also enjoy looking up the Gottmans (Julie and John, another couple; both are psychologists, authors, and relationship experts) on the 'Metaphysical Milkshake' podcast, co-hosted by Rainn Wilson and Reza Aslan. As a mama i felt so seen and heard and validated by Emily's sharing..which like she said, is a hard thing to come by in motherhood. And we don't only have to deal with feeling so unseen but then also deal with feelings of resentment and jealousy..this was a personal struggle for me because i then felt shame and guilt for feeling resentful and jealous ...so to hear Emily saying that she dealt with that as well was such a relief because i'm not alone.
This was such a great and necessary episode.

Wuoh! This episode was raw. I dont have a partner, but i can extrapolate a lot of this things with the experience that i have living with my parents. I love them, they are the best parents in the world, but sometimes, i dont show my love in a way that they can feel it. I can give them kisses, hugs, tell them that i love them (i really love them), but then, i dont clean the kitchen, or maybe i dont do the laundry... This kind if actions are also love gestures, respect gestures nd even independence, mature gestures.
This episode reminds me that i have to balance the love words that i tell to my parents with my actions. Respect my home, make the place comfortable for everybody its an amazing sign of love and respect. Not always letting others to take the iniative and do the fucking job. Cleaning, do the laundry, say love words... All this is an integral part of loving your community (and also loving yourself because you learn to be more independent and learn to value the different tedious jobs because you have 'suffer' it, its learning respect and honoring other).
Thank you for remind me that! Probably i will fail a lot of times, i will be lazy, i will be stupid, but i always try to find the good way to respecting my family and do the work. Thank you emily for your words! I really appreciate more the work that my mother and my fatherdid (and still doing) for me. Thank all of you for make this content accessible with subtitles and give me perspective. I will try my best, i hope my actions speaks louder than my words.
Love to all! Have a good day! Thank you!

OMG! First I admire how much love there’s between Emily and Justin. 💜✨
In my country which is Mexico the reality is different… here in Mexico or in latinamerica, I
Think first we need to make understand women that been a mother and a housewife it ain’t just doing the laundry, it’s taking care of your house been a safe space for you and your love once, the work of mom’s it’s so important and with so much love….
Second, we need to teach man not to accept as a fact that women cooks and do the laundry.
We need to teach on the new couples to be a team just as Justin and Emily are.💜✨

This podcast episode is SO helpful ~ especially the vulnerability for both Emily & Justin which gifted me hugely. I learned a lot and learned about ways I still help keep patriarchy intact by my own biases. Ugh. So thank you for showing me where I still need to grow & be responsible. Specifically I need to support women & women with children. And support companies & employers to seek out & employ women with children. I’ve had biases “against” women with children being hired because it feels like there will be more complications. The “gifts” of the challenges I see will bring helpful growth & richness to companies & businesses. Emily thank you for helping me listen & make changes. Definitely I have more & more to learn. One thing I felt like was SO important to hear is for men not to “ask” what to do in the home but to just come in and do stuff…like chores. And if they don’t know what to do, look, learn, bumble & go for it anyway. (I want to know how doing the laundry is going too! 👍🏼)

I’m working on communicating to my husband whom I love, that unfortunately I don’t always feel safe with him. Only if he became more vulnerable and less afraid to “lose” and actually listened, that would no longer be an issue.

Bless u for these convos because i cry every time as the little boy in me hurts and heals. and, the deflection// comments like, "I'm an idiot," "I'm not doing enough. she does more," "without u, i'd be lost," "thank u for not giving up on me," "the wonderful question, the amazing so-and-so said," make me sad, angry, and hurt. i hear the humility and reverence for women, yet the self-deprecation in them contributes to setting the bar low for men and makes people feel like they aren't enough no matter what they do. celebrate ur greatness, regardless if it's the bare minimum, give credit to who taught u and uplift them, then move on. frequently this humility hurts u more than it uplifts women. and, from white people especially, it's used to mask our need for approval, and becomes a way to demand more approval without seeming like we want it-- "I am the humblest because I rag on myself," isn't healthy, especially for young men to hear. u are great, own that shit.
