Nice one Rick, i had a good laugh at the axe man comments haha true story here, on a camp with The Northern Nomad and all night i was cold wondering how a sleeping bag can just suddenly fail.. next morning i realise i had in inside out :0 ha ha ha proper school boy error. great vid mate, Mike.
I have the Elite 4, Snugpak’s Tactical 2 and their jungle bag. I love all those bags but there are a few issues I’ve noticed in long term use...have used the Elite and Tactical for about 3-4 years now. Snugpak’s temperature ratings to me are way off.. the Elite 4 is supposed to have a comfort level of -10. I have used it warmer than 0 and my feet absolutely freeze in it.. same with the Tactical 2 which has a comfort level of 0 degrees C. Even at +10 I’m cold in it. The material in the inner foot box areas is much cooler than the rest on the interior insulation. The zips snagging on the Elite and Tactical are a constant issue which for military use designed sleeping bags is absolutely ridiculous. The jungle bag zip doesn’t snag so easily although it’s not quick release either. Imagine if you’re in a combat zone and have to get out in a hurry...the last thing you want to be doing is fiddling with stuck zips...seriously! I’ve written to Snugpak about this. I still generally love Snugpak as a brand and have some of their jackets and other items which are great. Will not consider buying their sleeping bags again until they address these issues although their gear is generally good value for money. Just ordered a Carinthia Defence 1 so looking forward to seeing how that goes..
Yeh definitely agree about the zip. Mine seems to have got better or my technique of unzipping might have changed to accommodate this. Like you say though, would be really bad in a combat situation. I've only used my snugoack 3 in the UK and always been warm enough but I'm a warm sleeper and wear wool socks when it's cold. Cheers for the great comment and speaking from experience. Sure it will help anyone potentially looking for a new bag 👍 Atb fella Rick

Great video I've been watching a few sleeping bag reviews and have decided to go for the Snugpak Elite. On one UK website, the Elite 4 is only £6 more than the 3, so I think I'll go for the 4. i know there's a 5 too, but I'll never be sleeping in the snow.. I also see you can actually buy the 'expanda panel' as a separate item, obviously for sleeping bags that don't already have that feature. Regards from Whitley Bay
Cheers Brian, you're in a good spot Whitley Bay 🙂. Its a while since I've been over there . We used to come over for a few beers back in the late 80's 🙂. I think it's a great sleeping bag. Cheers Brian, Atb fella. Rick
@@tahirahmed33 I never actually bought the Elite 4. It seems it is out of stock everywhere. I emailed Snugpak and they said getting stock in, in July which was too far ahead. The Elite 4 and 5 are very bulky .. I'm sure they are great bags though, judging the poor stock levels
