Can't believe I watched the whole thing, normally these long videos don't keep me interested. But this video is fascinating! I love and respect wolves, and truly appreciate all that these researchers are doing for the species.
I rescued a wolf-hybrid at 3 mos. old- the "system" was going to put down. I had him for 15 years- the most intelligent, gentle "dog" I ever met. Everyone fell in love with him. He looked like a wolf, acted different than a dog, howled like a wolf- loved the show "Law & Order" cos of the wolf howl at the end. I finally had to put him down due to his severe arthritis. But if all dogs go to heaven - my Toby is leading their pack! '
i'm happy i read this.sad about the ending.but i have loved wolves for so long it's just too sad for me 😭.i am a expert on wolves and i have studied them for a long time and i can tell you that's the saddest story about one i have ever read.
These 2 have lived a life how a life should be lived. I admire them immensely. They are solely responsible for my positive image of wolves and my interest in pack sociology. Their lives have immense importance and the world is better for having them.
everyone who hunts wolves and everyone in general should watch this video. I hate that wolves are already decreasing in population by half just over a year
I am reading "Three Among the Wolves" . I learned they havee strong family bonds, have so much respect for their family members and for their neighbors, but unfortunately the author assumes half of the wolves family in the book were killed by aerial hunter in Yukon in Canada.
Thank you, although I have already seen this movie and I have their book. "Wolves at our Door." The Dutchers have done a great job in informing people about wolves, Joan
Most heart-felt thanks to Jim, Jamie, & Natl Geo for This amazing video - the one hour version. Their love for these wolves will not be forgotten, and I know the wolves loved them.
I watched "Living with wolves" About 3 or 4 times now over the course of the past year. I absolutely love to watch this movie with Jim and Jamie living among the wolves. And more to the point, I absolutely love and adore wolves. They are a peaceful animal and only among them selves to establish and reinforce pack hierarchy do they display aggression. I find it horrible that mean humans that take their hatred out on wolves are actually allowed to hunt them in the manner explained by Jamie, and I hope people will become more informed on wolves and vote against this type of rule management. Wolves must be allowed to stay on the endangered species list and must be allowed to live. Furthermore all killing of wolves should be illegalized and penalized.
Vaskedama I loved that documentary too. I've watched it quite a few times already. Another one I like was about the Druids of Yellowstone. All wolf docs are great really. Wolves are such beautiful animals.
Wolves are are not a threat to human beings! This is a video from a familiy living with wolves for six years! Wolves are the essential predatory tree and we need to understand the importance of buffering a healthy and natural wildlife populatiation!
When i watched this video and it came to the part where Makati died I was sad and I now realise that wolves are not a threat to human kind. Jim and Julia Dutcher, if you are reading this comment thank you so much for showing everyone the real wolf that people don't really understand. Wolves are my favourite wild animals. I just adore and idolize wolves. Thank you again for showing the way wolves really are.
Missouri Conservation, please take notes. With black bear and mountain lions reintroducing themselves naturally, wolves would be a great addition to the state. If bears and cougars are signs that Missouri can support large predators then its about time to start considering reintroducing wolves.
Paladin Demo go and Speak to politicians rally your government officials and find out who will stand up for protecting Wolves. We must do this state by state now for that is where the Power lies! I’m a Wolf activist so I appreciate your help with anything you can contribute to our cause!
I watched the full 1&35 min documentary and I absolutely loved it! It on more then one occasion made me cry and increase my already love for wolves. Wolves are beautiful creatures with a bad reputation.
My wife and I and our five daughter's had a wolf and German Shepherd mix her name was Maggie we were lucky enuff to have this great animal in our family for fifteen years my girls still talk about her and that's been over 35years ago we miss her
Larry I know what you mean sorry for your loss of beautiful Maggie. I've raised one she is still young her name is Luna and she suprise me everyday how loving she is and how smart. Best wishes.
I remember seeing their documentary about wolves a while back I recall I was 15 it was a really good documentary about wolves it made me cry at the end
Incidentally i bought this book at The Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig. Not very far from Aviemore, a winter sports centre in Highland Scotland. The books name is The Hidden Life of Wolves. Well worth the reading.
So grateful for people like this. Wolves are incredible and so important. So sad how unappreciated and hated they are by so many. Yet we all love our dogs, but without the wolf there would have never been our best friend the dog.
Wolves are amazing they are an animal that shows how to be a family and much more yea they are dangerous ,but bears are and snakes and etc. wolves should never be killed. They or just one of the animal that help Morfe the earth
Thank God for videos like this bringing truth and light to situations. If only people could realize how similar we really are and how wrong they have been in their beliefs about wolves, then maybe the wolves could finally gain some relief from humans.
Jim and Jamie, Thankyou so much for showing people how mistaken we have become of these beautiful creatures. I have always regarded wolves with respect and awe. They are amazing creatures with unique traits. I now regard you with great respect. Wolves effect the world in so many good ways. They balance the eco-system. God put them here for a reason. Also, I have a great recommendation for anyone wanting to know even more about wolves. Julie of the Wolves is an interesting series!
Wolves are beautiful creatures and should not deserve to be hunted nor any other animal should be hunted. I'm glad Jim and Jamie are showing us this. would you want to be hunted? would you want to be shot? would you want to be killed and your family howling and searching for you? all hunters please answer these questions. KILLING ANIMALS IS NOT A SPORT.
Hunting any endangered species is awful. I think hunting is okay, as you wouldn't exist right now if your ancestors didn't hunt. And knowing directly where your meat source is coming from is a pro as well. As long as it does not cause extirpation of the hunted species and is well regulated hunting is completely natural. In fact, most species on this planet hunt :)
Thank you for your years of service and friendship to these incredible creatures ... whilst this was 2013 the plight of wolves and the stripping of their protections is worse than ever..i wish everyone would see this...it should be compulsary viewing in schools ..maybe the next generation can do better...
I know this was from many years ago I've seen it before and when I saw that Idaho was still having issues I had to look this this up and see it again. Your words WILL be heard again!
Amazing documentary of the real wildlife of this misunderstood animal and brought to us with not filter and clear at it should be to all. God bless this job!
it didn't surprise me that the extinction of these animals would be caused by the politicians and law makers when they were removed from the endangered list and allowed hunters to wipe them off the face of the earth because of ignorance. there such beautiful animals and an important part of the Eco system.
I love big cats, but I also love wolves. One of my favorite documentaries is on a wolf pack in Yellowstone and recently I learned about the Sea wolf, beautiful creatures!
Nasla jsem vas diky nadherne knize vlci u dveri uzasna prace ktera zaslouzi obdiv miluji vlky zaslouzi si nasi uctu a obdiv musime je chranit pro dalsi generace protoze ztratili se vlk zanikne historie jste uzasni lide dekuji❤🐺
I was expecting an orthodox documentary about my favorite animal...! I was somewhat disappointed for 3 minutes, and then I was hooked and they, J&J reeled me in... Wonderful presentation, Photography, and soothing, caring voices! Thank you!
What A wonderful Experience. Would Of Loved,Being With You during this. Wolves are Majestic. ❤ I've Seen A few, Over The Years. Got to Hold a Puppy. Then,Go in Wolf Pen and Was One of My Best Days of My Life !! Lucky You Two,Great Documentary 👍🐾🐾 .
Wolves are the ancestors of dogs. Many of the dog's better qualities, like loyalty and bravery are inherited from their wolf ancestors. Be grateful to the wolves, we owe them.
I've loved wolves since I was 9 years old ❤ They're just so magnificent and amazing..can't believe people can hate them. Humans are so cruel sometimes.
this brought joy to me,I live with my pack of 14 dogs (crossed between border collie, field labrador and swiss bernese mountain dog) i witness daily exactly what has been explained in this video,it seems they are describing my dogs,I too live in sub alpine terrain,my dogs have never seen other humans or a city,I have land for them to live freely,my house door is always open when I am absent, they have their ranks and behave just like these wolves
Whoops! I also wanted to say that this is a good and informative coverage that educates about the many behaviors of the wolf and the pack, which some don't know about.
Not sure why this 2013 presentation landed in my feed but... once I started had to finish! Excellent. I actually watched the original documentary (posted above) & LOVED it! If anyone gets the chance view -- do it!
I'm very very grateful to Mr.Jim & Mrs.Jamie Dutcher, this video was like.. I felt like yeah someone IS working and spreading awareness among people about these beautiful creatures!!! Thank you soo much! wolves are misunderstood they should be protected, conserved. this video really is an eye-opener.Thank you
I love wolves I have a connection to them as my therotype is a brown timber wolf named Phonnic!💙 I wouldn't be scared to meet wolves and come face to face with a pack. They are my most favourite animals and I'd love to live with them.
What an amazing experience you and Jamie had. You contributed so much to the understanding of these essential animals. I bought both of your books and I love the CD enclosed in one of them. The story had a very sad ending but it also shows the reality of how short a Wolf ‘s life can be. Thank You both for all you have contributed to understanding Wolf packs. Thank You! A’ho
Concern for the omega expressed here and in “Living With Wolves”, but just as there’s some inner quality that makes the alpha the alpha perhaps the same is true for the omega, and maybe he’s just fine with his place in the pack. We personify his situation and feel sorry, but it’s possible he’s quite happy.
Can't believe I watched the whole thing, normally these long videos don't keep me interested. But this video is fascinating! I love and respect wolves, and truly appreciate all that these researchers are doing for the species.
You should watch the full documentary, it's on youtube as well.

My very special thanks to Jim and Jamie Dutcher for making this heartwarming, educational, and informational video.
everyone who hunts wolves and everyone in general should watch this video. I hate that wolves are already decreasing in population by half just over a year
+Arctic Moone yes. people who hunt wolves are just sad.
people disregard the planet, and just take care of themselves. That's what I hate so much about people.
I HATE hunters
I am reading "Three Among the Wolves" . I learned they havee strong family bonds, have so much respect for their family members and for their neighbors, but unfortunately the author assumes half of the wolves family in the book were killed by aerial hunter in Yukon in Canada.
The wolf population is huge in minnesota. There are over 2800. Unfortunately the attacks have increased on cattle.
this is just amazing. wolves are the most beautiful creatures on earth.
This couple is a gift to humanity. We are so blessed we have you, thank you for all your passionate efforts!
What wonderful, beautiful, and majestic animals wolves are! The highest regards to the Dutchers for presenting such an enlightening documentary!

Keep up the good work.
Thank you sir & mam for standing up 🙏. These amazing creatures cannot stay misunderstood.
Jim and Jamie, Thankyou so much for showing people how mistaken we have become of these beautiful creatures. I have always regarded wolves with respect and awe. Sharks, Hyenas and Wolves are the most misunderstood creatures alive today.
Best documentaries I ever seen hands down , Jim and Jamie you are great

I 💯 agree, wolves are beautiful and are claimed to be vicious but are not. TV just says that bullshit.
