a tutorial in a tutorial?
The comment I've been waiting for!
You saved my life. Nowhere else did anyone mention Electra video player
I'm so glad I was able to help
Same… I was pulling my hair out already
@@xdavis2919 man I'm glad I was able to help!
i can tell you put lots of effort into this. thank you for this great shader- keep them coming!
Best tutorial out there for this. Thanks man
Thanks for the tut man, worked perfectly! you the man
Thanks, the number of times I come back to these video material tutorials haha - this one is the most streamlined and easiest to listen to. Thank you! I've also used the new media plates in 5.1, but it seems to only work on the plate objects. Do you think it's possible to use a media plate on something like a sphere?
Hi simon thank you for your clarity and your way of explaining things! this was very helpful, can you please tell me how can I turn on and off the TV in the level sequencer, more like having the material active and inactive replaced by another material so to speak. Hope you could help.
super helpful, thanks a lot !
Great job! May I ask, if it's possible to buy the 3d model shown in this video to learn the ue5?
Great job! Can you show how to get your live screen within a project similar to how you showed how to get a video in a project (using new ndi for 5.o I assume). I’ve not done yet and need to for a project I’m working on. Love your vids!
Awesome tutorial, thanks! So I did everything but my screen is somehow not emitting any light onto the scene. It is just a white rectangle now, or the video, but no light emitting from the screen. Any idea what can go wrong here?
Nice tuto thanx for sharing
What hardware did you used please ?
I want to know what hardware needed to reach that quality?
can the texture sample be used in complex materials? i.e. stuff that rotates, distorts and scrolls UVs? Also can you use it on any static mesh?
great tutorial, thank you!

This was great! How I noticed you could only have to show when you played it in the other window. Is there a way to animate when this triggers in MRQ?
is there a way to use a video as a texture in a material itself like modulating displacement or normals etc
epicly easy well done broda, i use a acurved tv and the video is zoomed in any tips?
Thank you very much for the tut. Can you kindly help me with an issue I came across? I created the video loop. I need this video play continues on the screen. After I export as package I dont see the video on the screen ? any tips how to get that ?
hey, so how do I get this to work in game? the media stops playing when I play the level and to get it playing again I have to relink the file and open it again in the media player
Thanks for the amazing vids and Tutorials...am a student in East Africa and am really interested into learning Unreal 5.0.But I dont have a powerful CPU with a good enough GPU...one I learn with keeps crashing and is very old...would you help me even if with your old PC that you dont use often?
only works when the media player is open. turns to black when i close it.
What format does the video need to be avi or mp4?
Amazing
Dear friend, congratulations for the great job. Could you help me, is it possible to insert a 360 video and from it, edit within Unreal? Ex. I did an architectural survey, and I want to model realities on top of this 360 video, to present interactions. Is it possible to do this?
Thank you!
You're welcome!
VERY GOOD
Hey guys! Thanx Yahya great tutorial. One question thou is there a possible way to make material dark instead of white before video is started
My movies are cut.. I use 1080P movie for the texture, and only the left bottom corner Appears on the screen. There is a way to force scale somewere ?
How do you resize the video in Unreal so it fits your TV asset properly ?
Can you use live video as a source for the video material???
nice video helps a lot
Thanks Sam! I'm glad it helps!
Just found an issue with different aspect ratio videos: Vertical videos (for social media) crash the editor with electraplayer in dialogue. I tried it with a regular horizontal video but in that case, its not automatically switching to the aspect ratio in media player, it stays squared. How might this issue be solved? I would just tilt my video and then later rotate the screen in editor but I would need the aspect ratio not be a square
Thanks buddy 💫
Any time!
How does it render along with the video on the TV Screen
?
How can I get the video to still play when rendering in movie render queue, Thanks
Where did you get this environment?
Nice!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Can you make a video normal map? Sort of like what can be done with animated sprites but with a normal map that matches the media plate video
Great Tut! Thanks. This works great when I assign the Video Material directly to a static mesh in the level, but I really need to assign it to a static mesh that is part of an actor blueprint, then start the player based one of my blueprint function. It seems straight forward enough, but I can't get it to work. If I assign the same material to a stand-alone static mesh in my level, when my blueprint calls the function to open the source on the media player, it does play on the level mesh, but not on the blueprint component mesh. Any ideas?
OK, Solved this myself by accident. When I closed the project and re-opened, it worked as expected. If memory serves, I believe I had a similar problem with video back with 4.26
hay bro can you tell me how to quit the sound of the video? i want the video playing but in mute is possible in ureal? or i must mute the video in a video editor??? thank you so much.
Hi! Thats very cool, Is there a way to start playback while in game tho?
vai precisar construir uma blueprint.
best .. !
Did anyone manage to play the videos in runtime?
For some reason medea player wont work
Do you know why I can't zoom in on my media texture? When I place the media texture, it only covers a small area on the material, and the rest of the areas become pixelated.
Hey great video. I followed steps but when I press the play button to go into the level in game I first need to open media player when I play it there is not audio in game mode. When I exit then I hear it again but not while it’s live. Any help? Thanks
vai precisar construir uma blueprint.
I have imported a alpha video and set the material blend mode. This looks good but I noticed that there is some sort of blur (not motion blur) in the image. When I turn off the Anti-Aliasing this issue is fixed, however the rest of the scene looks terrible without anti-aliasing. Is there a way to fix this?
If you go into your screen blueprint you can edit stuff. I saw it in another video
my video texture is very blurry and low res, do you know why this can happening?
When editing the material, adding the multiply box and the other one was very quick, I didn't understand what the second box is.
nice tut. btw where is the other half of the keyboard :D
This is great! How do I get the video source playback to start on frame 1 whenever I render out a movie sequence? Is there a way to do that?
Did you find out how to do this? I want to render a sequence as well with the vid starting at frame 0 or 1. Thanks
@@CaseyChristopher I figured it out - I’m not at my machine right now but If I recall correctly it’s part of the actual sequencer. When you put it in the sequence you can choose where to play it back from / if it loops / etc.
@Nada right click in the sequencer and add the media source - then make sure it’s set to the proper media source inside of there
Can't make this work with the sequencer for some reason, I put the media file on the sequencer.. still nothing
@@martinjrico right click it, there’s a setting within the media player in the sequencer that allows you to select which video clip it’s playing back.
coming from cinema 4d, this is so complicated, verses just drag and drop an animated sequence but thanks that was helpful
as usual great tutorial!
but i have problem, maybe based on uv mapping of the asset.
how to rotate the video?,
my video play rotate 90 degrees to the left
in the material add custom rotator to texture and plug parameter to it with value of 0.25
@@reket777pvl thank you
@@Blazingskull2023 just double click your texture, inside the texture config you can add value to rotate the texture.
But when we play the game, the video doesnt show...
Did you find a solution?
no...........@@ErrRationale
(im hotbergina). still stuck with this issue. unreal sucks for this
When I do it, the video plays about 10x too fast and I can't find any way to slow it down! Even changing the playback rate in the level blueprint doesn't change it!
I've gotten this to work, however my playback on sequencer is very laggy and only updates the video when I pause it. The video source file is only 80 mb and I'm getting 50 fps in the editor so I don't think I'm low on vRAM or anything. Have any idea what could be causing this?
Any chance you have managed to find a solution? - I'm having the same issue :/
@@emilleisner5999 yes, if I remember correctly you have to change the decoding method inside of the material player. I was having a ton of issues with video playback so I ended up using image sequences. I have not tried with 5.1 though.
Cannot make it appear when rendering it in a sequencer queue, just in the editor. I tried to add the media to the sequencer but still nothing anyone that had this issue?
could not determine stream mime type on all media. :(
😍😍🤩🤩
Is this your room or did you download it from the marketplace?
No, this is a room I modeled for education purposes
Thanks habib
How to keep media texture running
Without refreshing?
I didn't fully understand, without refreshing how?
you can play it at begin play in blueprints or you also can play them in sequencer if you are doing a cinematics render.
@@RmaNUA-cam
Thanks alot
It's success 🙌
You can also set the video to LOOP in media player settings screen
projector effects in UE5 Please
my emissive materials wont show when behind something is there any fix?
Adding an additional light could help, because emissive materials are screen based
UE Blueprint button to control video playback pause
hi we need tutorial for projector effects
Is it possible to use youtube videos instead?
You need to download video at first. Then use it like shown on a video
Good tutorial but I don't know why but this really never works properly and doesnt render in sequencer
💓💓💓🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
Just as a recommendation, I wouldn't set the material to unlit. Typically TV's tend to have reflections and such. You can still have the emissive too without doing that. Nice tutorial though. Nice work man.
What would u recommend instead? Roughness and Specular?
it only shows audio. HELP
after following step by step, my video wont play. turn out, i must add blueprint begin play media in level blueprint.
Thanks for mentioning this, I should make a follow-up tutorial on how to use this on a level
@@VRDivision no problem, always love your video. and about the video with sound, maybe you can add this in your next tutorial also. does the method is the same like UE4, must add seperate element for the sound?
thank you.
@@damnfail9316 yes it's best if you add separate element for the sound, I'll cover ways I do that too, thanks for the notes!
Could you refer how to do this?
Can you explain ? I am trying to use on level and I can get the video to play but there’s no audio when I open it. It only plays audio when I exit the game mode .
there is better eays to use it instead of on a flat screen
Stay hydrated
about to leave home to bring more water :D
Why You need electra player? Nothing change and any difference beetwen normal madia player...
Sorry, that's not how it works. You forgot the important thing. In the level blueprint, the video still has to be started with the 'Open Source' function. You don't need the 'Electra Media Player' plugin.
benchmark video
talking about unreal and hardware
idea for future video
can you make a video for showing a 360 image for VR?
Tutorial in a tutorial 😂
haha yes :D :D
tv ratio and video ratio are not matching.
Did you check the UV mapping of your objects?
@@VRDivision yeah but still it's not matching
@@varshinnarasimman4149 I'm sorry to hear that, I believe this is 100% core related to UV mapping of the video i your 3d application before export to unreal.
or it's different between your 3d application and unreal?
@@VRDivision it's okay 👍🏻 while comparing to other youtuber you are replying and helps to solve doubt.... I appreciate that 💥
