I bolted a Big Foot camper to the bottom of my truck bed. Lack of movement destroyed the camper. I think a camper should be allowed to move some, or not
I agree with you, I am pretty sure the manufacturer would void the warranty if you put something like that. There no need for this the camper has no where to go. That will put some stress on the camper.
Love your channel and your creativity on making a better loading environment for these tight fit campers. I know you've got ideas in your mind and probably have already fixed it but have you ever thought of how a person could raise and lower these truck bed campers easier keeping them as level as possible throughout the entire movement up and down other than walking around it constantly while moving each leg little by little? My Lance 1172 seems to want to tear itself apart literally when one of the legs gets a little bit out of level with the rest.
Overbuilt, ridiculous design. Also adds significant risk to bumping when backing up, terrible design. A better design would be a 2x6 laid flat with 45-degree bevels.
This is ridiculously genius. Wow. Since this was 4 years ago, wondering if someone patented this and is selling it now. If so, hopefully it is Mr. Coushaine.
Wonderful! Too bad you don't sell them all made. Silly question: why need the Rollers? It'd seem you could use the UHMW exclusively (just a bit longer/higher) and it'd slide in the same? Also, did you add a border of UHMW to the camper's bottom edge (so slides on slide and doesn't bang up the camper corner)? I'd love to see a similar device for bolt-on Flatbed campers (ie, similar UHMW gizmos that'd (temporarily) screw into the outside rails of the flatbed)... Whaddayathink? thanks!
Charlie, How does this compare to the rail rollers you made several years ago. I made blocks similar to yours and noticed they really did a number on the bottom edge of the camper. We go off-road a lot and the camper is really moving around. Do you still use your backup camera system?
Hey Charlie….id like to commission you to make me a set of these. I have an F550 being built by Elevation Off Grid so I know u know the truck bed dimensions since u have the same truck. Let me know if u’d be willing to do this. Thx, Ron
Thanks for the request but I am traveling so much making another roller aligner isn't possible. My F550 from Elevation Off Grid continues to perform flawlessly!
Thank you, I saw a video recently of a bunch of couples talking about their truck campers and how much they love them. It was at some truck camper jamboree or something. I recognized you immediately and your rig since I've watched so many of your videos. The exchange between you and your wife about your driving was priceless. You're a very generous person to share all these ideas and knowledge. Thank you
I am planning to get truck camper and I thought of some problems before I buy it. To centre it is one of the problem. No offence, but this thing is useless. The problem is: When you lower the camper when it's not aligned, it will landed onto the truck not aligned anyway. Once you installed this device, the camper will landed onto the truck ""CENTERED"" by TWISTING/BENDING the JACK. Although it's very limited length in the jack, still it will damage the jack since it needs very precise straightness. If you have installed a wheel for the jack, then it is fine, but after you installed the wheel, why you need this device? Good way of thinking anyway, but sorry, it will not work.
You sir...should build truck bed campers! At least then I know it would be done perfectly! Thank you so much for posting this brilliant design for centering!
NIce job, but I wonder if you could eliminate the wheels all together and just make slighly taller angled guides that would accomplish the same thing...
You don't absolutely need to cut the bed mat however I thought that keeping the roller wood parts firmly planted on the sheet metal of the bed was the best secure location without any flexing that might take place if on the rubber mat.
Great build and design! I was going to make some but it seems that this system would be putting side stress on the jacks which could cause weakness where they are attached to the camper. Any thoughts on this?
If you watch the video closely, I state clearly that these rollers are only to center the last 1 to 1-1/2" so that small distance compared to the leg length is no problem at all.
I like your channel. Been thinking about getting a truck camper. But the more I researched the idea the more expensive it became and I haven't even bought one yet.
We had an 28' travel trailer and then a 37' 5er and they both were limiting on access to campsites, gas stations and National Parks. We then right-sized to a truck camper and it was the best decision! Easy to maneuver, no extra tolls, no extra insurance, no inspections, no registration!!
This is absolutely a great tool for anyone needing a perfect alignment of their camper. In some cases you do not need such precision, but in my case I do. I own an arctic fox 1140 and it needs to be perfect because there are two propane lines that run down the side of the camper, one on each side. When the camper is set it on the bed I can barely stick my finger between the propane line & bed. Needless to say not a whole lot of room for error which is why something like this is key for me!

That was bitchin’! I mean you’d need some crazy tools for that but wow brother I am stunned by your genius and ingenuity. This was brilliant. Subbed!
Great job dad!
You should get a patton on some these ideas.... you have the best projects!!!!!
Great Video! You've got SKILLS Mr. Coushaine Norm Abrahms got nuthin on you my friend!
why has this not been manufactured?

I love this!! I would buy a set
Really cool. All I need now is a $100,000 dollar shop to make a set.
Overbuilt, ridiculous design. Also adds significant risk to bumping when backing up, terrible design. A better design would be a 2x6 laid flat with 45-degree bevels.
You've really out done yourself with this once Charles :-) Nice to see you're still evolving concepts. Must be nice to have a wood shop like yours :-)
This is ridiculously genius. Wow. Since this was 4 years ago, wondering if someone patented this and is selling it now. If so, hopefully it is Mr. Coushaine.
You design, manufacture and install the most ingenious and practical truck camper gear ever ! Bravo Mr. Coushaine.

You, sir, are a genius! I can't wait to get my NL truck camper... this is definitely a mod I will be doing....
Could you provide dimensions for the base roller assembly. The upright support will vary by truck.
Very nice fabrication work. And a well produced video too!
I have the same model truck, do you by chance have templates you could trace out for me, possibly mail?
Would you ever consider making these for sale? I’m interested. I have a home in Cape Coral. Great job on design and construction!
It's got so much space inside I love it it would be great for me and my girlfriend

beauty!
thx for sharing Charles
This is premium content- perfectly executed and simply does what it’s supposed to. Bravo!

I love seeing your project work. I just retired and hope I can begin a few of my own.....nice work! Bryan from Virginia

I have the same truck and similar camper. Charlie can you make me a set?
You are awesome!! What a genius idea !!!!
Excellent design and workmanship! Now i will copy it “sort of” with 4X4’s and a delrin cutting board! Thanks LOL
I think it’s easier to struggle putting the camper on your truck than it is building that centering device. At least for me lol.
It is not only for centering while loading, but keep it vent from sliding on odd roads. Great job.
I am planning to get truck camper and I thought of some problems before I buy it.

If you ever loaded a truck camper with a quad cab you'll see how this can help, although I have not personally tried it.
NIce job, but I wonder if you could eliminate the wheels all together and just make slighly taller angled guides that would accomplish the same thing...
so, he backs it in perfect so what he doesn’t really doesn’t need this …. but he’s living in a perfect world i guess 👍
Wow! That is a smart idea.
Do you build and sell these?
I just use my wife and MKI eyeballs....cool project though if you have the tools and experience in such things!
Top notch! Are you still using those now - 4 years later?
Yes still using both my laser aligner and my roller aligner and they continue to work perfectly!
Wow… ingenious! Too bad there are so many variations of truck bed and camper measurements out there, or this could truly be a money making idea.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Outstanding innovation! Patent it before the idea is stolen and produced in Japan....
Brilliant!
Nice
Dang, we need workshop for women classes at our VoTech.
That's genius! Well done sir, well done!
Your clever thinking is always inspiring. Tony
I can tell you're a woodworker. Dual crescent wrenches?
I seriously would love to buy this would you be open to selling me a set?
Ingenious idea thanks for the enlightenment
Thank you for the informative video.Good luck to you.
Genius. Why I didn't think of this.
Nice job Charles, and an envy-inducing workshop! Is it necessary to cut the bed mat or could you just place the entire assembly on top of the bed mat?
You don't absolutely need to cut the bed mat however I thought that keeping the roller wood parts firmly planted on the sheet metal of the bed was the best secure location without any flexing that might take place if on the rubber mat.
Great info thanks for sharing
Sweet design, & well realized. Have you had any trouble with the transverse metal straps rusting at all?
So far the galvanized plating has held up well with no rusting!
Very nice job and an even better idea!!
👍👍응원합니다 👍👍🇰🇷

@@charlescoushaine nice report thanks
Charles, I have to ask, is the truck you have a dually ? Gas or diesel?
My truck is a 2001 Ford F350 diesel dually with 175k miles!

OMG...is this comedy?
Absolutely 😁
