I bought this camper a few years back off of Facebook Marketplace. It may look rough, but it was cheap...and I love cheap. There are a couple of things that need to be done before taking it out camping. I need to get it into the back of my truck, but the jacks are broken and my truck sits too high. It's also full of bees and wasps, which is super awesome. Let's see if I ever make it camping, or if it falls out of my truck going down the road.

Dude, I am so proud of you! I dont give a shit what any hater says, you took something most people would take to the dump and put life back into it. Starting a family especially while owning your own business and creating jobs for others is no easy, OR CHEAP, task. Dont need luxury, need it to be dependable so you and your wife can have those special moments. Not enough people in the world like you anymore; hat's off to ya!
I have to agree. if you were my son I would be one proud papa. I was just like this when I was a boy and it carried me through life.
There are plenty of people in and out of the UA-cam community, most outside of the social media content don’t care about making money and enjoying a life, however there are a few that bleed these videos that build there business and stoical media salary, just how times are nowadays
I don't give a shit either. Nice rig.
Been a welder/machinist most of my life. Your welds and designs are way better than some of the so called "trained professionals" I've seen. I would definitely trust your work.
Nah come on man, those welds are decent but definitely not better than any professional
@@bossaudio12 I said "SOME"... I've seen welds on buildings built by professional union shops that looked like snot. I used to repair failed welds from NDI teams that inspected panels for new bridges being shipped out. These welds had terrible roll over or undercuts. His welds aren't perfect but better than some I have seen and he does it for fun.
Some would say you half a$$ed it I would say you whole a$$ed it. Honestly you took trash and made it something useful again good job whole a$$ing it!
@radstayathomedad9178 nice job censoring yourself water brain
The thoroughness of your camper repairs are admirable. Nothing at all to be ashamed of. In fact like you mentioned, the repairs you did were much stronger than original factory work.
I too have an old cheap truck camper I’ve been putting off rebuilding the back entry door that’s falling apart and doesn’t latch properly. I don’t have access to all the materials or tools (nice mag drill!) but will eventually work on it when it comes up to be it’s turn amongst all my other broken projects 😂
Looking forward to seeing it!
Dude, I love that you just do normal people stuff. It makes me want to come hang out and fix stuff with you.
I’m starting to think he’s ? Normal?
For real, he's just giving all the BRO vibes
are youtubers not suppose to do normal stuff? lol
After watching you for half a year, I finally figured out why what my connection is to your story. My grandfather grew up in the Depression, then was at Pearl Harbor, from a poor family, a total of 8 brothers and sisters. He wasn't a craber, but evertyhing he did he did it himself, and figured it out himself. He built his own porches, garage, sheds, added a second living room to his mobile home (double wide). He did everything by himself. It is a lost work ethic in general but I'm glad you have it and work hard.
You are a talented young man. Who can design and build outta scrap. Not everyone can do that. Your a MacGyver for sure.
Thanks for being you. An inspiring hard working young man.
In 1980, when I was 19, I bolted my truck camper to the floor of my
1972 Ford F-250 Camper Special with a threaded rod and steel plates.
I think your repairs are very creative and look sound to me. You took something sketchy and brought it back to life and will be able to enjoy it for more years. Respect.
While I have never restored a pickup camper, I have totally rehabbed an old coachman travel trailer.
There’s a real sense of satisfaction and rebuilding something that’s worn out or broken down and making it usable again.
I agree!
I love seeing u work on that camper. My brother is who sold it to you. Glad you’re bringing it back to life
Wow that’s crazy! I think it was in Severn by CATnorth if I remember correctly.
@@fvsoutherngirl yes it was. Good memory. His name is Tommy. Glad your enjoying it and I love watching all your videos. You’re definitely a hard working man. Keep it up
Crabber welds are the best! 😂
People like you are what propels these types of sales still. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Awesome work from a down to earth dude.
some pretty great work honestly, it may not look the best but most people don't know how much thought and time it really took to make this work.
Great content. Keep it coming.
Great to see your abilities at fabrication from junk, sorry, I mean treasures.
Congratulations on marrying that lovely lady.
Young man, you’re giving this old man hope for some of the future of this country. So good to see someone with such work ethic, such ingenuity, and such enthusiasm and willing to do things themselves and make due with what you have. We’ve become a throw it away society, good to see you salvage and repair things. KUDOS! Keep doing your thing
Always love these build vids! Im sure "I can use that for something" will be on my tonbstone.
To say I'm impressed is an understatement. Great job!
Luke, very nice work and creative. I love when ingenuity takes over and you can use what's at hand to get the job done. Your metal scrap pile contains some really nice metal so you can easily put your skills to work. Keep it going...and on the cheap. Love it!
You are my hero, my kind of man. You have a good mind and see things that many folks cannot. Thank you for your inspiration for me to tackle the projects I have to do. 🤔
There is a giant pile of those campers in Williston North Dakota since 2018
Your ingenuity and ability to visualize then make it a reality is so awesome!!!!
You are definitely the best backyard engineer I've ever seen.
Hello Luke I'm impressed with you I've just gotta say I have a Caribou truck camper and we've had an accident with it Now you've taught me how to fix it thank you man I really appreciate it
I am probably 2 or 3 times your age, but you always amaze me in your work ethics and ingenuity on whatever you set your mind too. Great job and keep those videos coming.
You are awesome! Dreams are what u make em', anyone can just buy better. The lost art of reward is what u highlight, pure props and praise 👏.
I personally think you done a SPLENDID JOB at repairing that camper,, I think as a side/off season JOB,, you should take up FABRICATION AS A SIDE BUISENESS TO HELP OUT ON BILLS ETC. AND FUTURE CRABBING EQUIPMENT! from what I just witnessed in this video,, YOU HAVE THE SKILLS!!! I honestly think you need to study on that!!
Very creative!!! Love watching your adventures
This is awesome man. Great ingenuity! I keep scrap around my shop to be able to do this stuff too.
Wow! Very clever. Good job Luke
The best comedy descriptions follow your clever and appropriate handywork. What a gift!
Smart man !! Keep up the good work !
Scabbing together a camper is what makes it fun, many camping trips laying in the bunk coming up with new things to improve my camper.
I love these videos so much. Thanks for putting such hard work into these videos for us to enjoy
I must say that the repair on this camper is fully adequate. When i was young i always made too sturdy repairs, lasting long after the item that was repaired was scrapped. This is a good way to make the whole thing age together. Camper on a truckbed is truly sweet, and if you clean it well and put in new matresses it´s almost sanitary. Go for it!
I am loving the work you did! Hopefully you will do some more work on it I would love to see it!
Been following your content for a bit. Nice work on the fabricating. I run a construction company and can appreciate the challenges of running a business. I frequently find myself putting things together out of the scrap scrap pile. Happy holidays from Alaska!
I know I am probably late but no joke need more of these videos, would love to see you do more diy to the trailer and fix it up! Just found your channel and hooked already!
I got a similar camper situation. Love your junk pile. Almost as kool as mine. I’ve been fixing up junk using good junk for the last 50 years. You’re doing great. There’s a lot of satisfaction doing it this way. Keep it up. A lot of young people these days don’t know which way to turn a bolt.
This is my favorite video yet! ❤
Your ability to improvise and conquer obstacles are very impressive. Well done, Luke.
Ingenuity at its finest. Awesome job
Glad I ran across your video ! Kudos on your fab work ! Awesome job !
Man, sometimes UA-cam’s algorithm says hey dummy, watch this guy, and all you can do is say…THANK YOU! So refreshing to see a positive person
Ready to rock Luke... Come on down to Hatteras, hang out and drum fish with us!
Never seen a video of yours. But just wanted to comment… super cool vid, project and outcome 👏
"MacGyver," is the nick name my girl gave me. Ill pass it on to you. Look him up, years back there was a tv show named after him.
Nice rebuild Luke. Keep it up and enjoy! Happy camping!
This is the greatest thing I've ever seen. You are one handy dude. I love everything you just did im super impressed
Hell yeah brother ! Congratulations to you and your bride ... keep on keeping on , from Connecticut :P
Glad I happened upon your heater short. Love the build. Can't wait to see the adventures.
New subscriber for sure.
Thanks for subscribing!
I had absolutely no reason to watch this video, but I did. All the way through. And I LOVED IT! Excellent entertainment! :)
Wow....great project....glad found your site!
Good job sir , great fabrication work, , I'm in Bear Creek with a waterfront hardly ever comment but always watch and like your videos. I'm 51 born and raised in Dundalk..
For real i feel this ingenuity attitude of fix and make do with wat u got is wat our parents grew up with and as time went on it didnt get past on thru the next generation and was eventually lost in translation. Its not even abt money. Its all abt being creative and using that head of yours to find solutions to a problem
Nice work on the truck mounts! I didn't want to pay the thousand bux either and was about to make my own but at the last minute ended up scoring a used set from an rv dealer for $300 so wasn’t a bad deal and lucked out that it was the exact model# to fit my year truck.
Luke,
You make your channel fun to watch. I know nothing about fishing or crabbing to but you make your life in and around the water very interesting.
I have done everything for myself all if .my life. I didn't know that there could be other options. I was too poor in my youth to even explore any options. In spite of DIY attitude I have tried to do things professionally. I spent my entire career in maintenance where I "mastered" many trade skills, but really mastered only a few. At 67 I am still exploring new skills and still a DIY champion. When I was 65ish my wife let me build the dream shop. 4600sf building now has 14k vehicle lift and a pretty extensive machine shop. The house shop is just for woodworking. An old man shouldn't be having as much fun as I am.
New campers are just as cheap and sketchy as old campers. They are pretty and cost more, but are still junk. I have owned and cursed both.
I look back at a lifetime of DIY. Some of my work shows all the marks of inadequate skill and "poverty" limitations, but we have been happy. I retired younger and wealthier than my co-workers, much of that involved your kind of thrift.
Keep living your best life!
That’s awesome! I hope to do what you are one day
Dude your super resourceful and creative. Decent!
Iv always wanted to fix up an old camper you are doing good.livingmy dream.
These kinds of videos are great because rather than junk it, you repair it and then use it. Great job.
Impressive work definitely looks amazing
I've been watching nomad living the last week or so and have been watching rebuilds of vans and campers for this life style. When I saw this camper I clicked on it thinking I was watching another but it's you! Lol. I'll still see what you do with it. 😊 well, I wanted to see the inside!
It’s great to see a younger person improvise make it up as you go along. I’ve tried drawing plans for a project and I just can’t do it.
Very nice job. You definitely have the skill sets to accomplish much on your own. Bravo
How I wish I would come across a find like this!!! How awesome!❤
Love the Content! thank you!
Really sad I didnt get to see this beast go down Mountain road. Kudos on getting it done with scrap and hard work. Keep it up Luke!
Dude! You are creative and industrious! Even better than that, you aren't bound to some high society social standing contract. Keep on rolling!
I'm glad I found a real human being, more power to you Luke!
Your ingenuity is amazing!
Humble bro! And good work, not even questionable in any way!
Jack of all trades master of none. You are the best man to be had. Lucky girl! Keep him no matter what!
👌🏻
if there was ever a situation, you are on a good team. team crabbers. you jam. good work.
That is so awesome you did all that with scraps. I think the ultimate irony was at the 17:31 mark there was one last bee flying into view as if not to be forgotten LOL. Safe travels
I gotta say we know the boats are because the boats from the 60s and 70s are still here. Where is all the leftover boats from the 90s and the 2000s where are they? They’re gone they love your stuff. Keep putting it on me.
GREAT VIDEO!.....MADE ME LAUGHA FEW TIMES......GREAT JOB!
This boat part box truck mad max style Frankenstein is beautiful! She looks sturdy as hell. Time to bring her to the west coast and give Dungeness season a try!
My camper got nothing in urs!
Pretty genius ideas for sure. Nice work!
I saw this video and got inspired to get a truck camper myself. Secured a super mint 1994 shadow cruiser. 8ft popup. Got it on my 06 duramax
"looks pretty good, cause you cant see it from my house" im stealing that line
Luke is definitely '"Popular Mechanic" material with this video!
Good work and nice restoration 😊
Heck ya man love it!
Luke I think it is awesome that you have the vision to do it all from scrap!!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
That is sick! Great work! Hope you have fun camping! 🏕️
Used overhead camper for years...i loved it..nothing fancy but did the job well...have a dedicated on off set up will make itmore enjoyable
Good work the camper turned out great awesome
Loved how you turned someone’s trash into a treasure that will keep making memories
i did this but the other way around to clear my duly fenders !!! smart move ! it’s the humble ones that think the best!
Awesome job you look like a Jack of all trades fun watching you make things work
What a great project. It is so satisfying to make something out of a scrap pile
All I can say is I wish I was like you. Great job...it's old but priceless now!
You are actually a genius at what you do.
This is one of my favorite videos.
People call me a hoarder for my scrap pile but they all come calling when they need something
No shade here - I'm totally impressed with your ability!!
Looks Great for a homemade job 👍
You inspire me. You are 20 times better than me at your age. Keep em coming. When I was a young man I wanted to be a crabber.
Awesome job just coming up with scrap things to make your truck camper work for you!!! Heck I’d say if you get low on money just make some truck camper brackets and sell them for a hundred dollars less than they sell for!!! That would definitely be some good pocket change!!! Lol!! Awesome video buddy!!!! Oh and congratulations to you and your new lovely bride!!!!
Ive been a welder/fabricater/junker for 50 years. You are fine! You should be proud!
I’m so proud of you. Great skills
