It should be noted that like how bird is not a type, Lance is using the term "dragon" in the same way, not as a type. Gyarados & Charizard are both non-dragon type dragons... dragon is the creature they are....
@@TheDeathmail the birdkeeper class of trainer uses exclusively flying type pokemon. Lance uses exclusively flying type pokemon. Even if it wasnt clearly a joke, lance falls under the requirements for a birdkeeper.

Theory: Sunflora used by artist might be a reference to the famous "Sunflowers" by Vincent Van Gogh and Sigilyph reference to hand painted symbols like hieroglyphs and pottery maybe.

Sigilyph makes sense too. Its based on Nazca lines, which are nothing if not giant paintings/sculptures.

Funniest part is that line was an error on the Ocean Dub's part. Goku's actual power level during that scene was over 8,000 according to the original sub. This scene has been fixed to over 8,000 in more recent showings of the episode, such as in DBZ Kai

Actually it does kind of make sense that the hiker is a bit bigger. One strategy for hiking is too carbload so you can go for longer. Plus it depends on where they are hiking too because if they hike too colder climates then they need that extra layer of fat to help keep them warmer.

I would guess that sunflora was added to the artist trainer as a nod to Van Gogh, who famously painted sunflowers quite often.
For sunflora, I highly suspect that it’s a nod to Van Gogh’s Sunflower, which is an incredible well known piece inside and outside the art world. Sigils and ruins can also be seen as a form of written art, like calligraphy. The rest I can’t really explain

Here's a video suggestion:
Rotom has lately become a sort of utility Pokemon, one that you don't own but that assists you on your journey. There's also the Ride Pokemon in Alola, but they only serve that role in the Alola games. Now, Klefki could also serve this role by holding on to your keys for you and then inserting them into places upon request. So what other Pokemon do you think could serve this Utility role?
Here's one criteria to consider: the Pokemon has to want to serve this role (for ethical concerns). Rotom loves taking over electrical appliances, so it'll gladly serve as your living Pokedex. Klefki loves collecting keys and will gladly stick around so that it can collect more and then use them as a form of play.

I feel this was a missed opportunity to give them a more diverse team, not just the evolution of the classes, but logical progressions that they would have.
Sigilyph actually fits the artist really well, since it's based on the Nazca lines, which are pre-Columbian massive artworks (some span the sides of literal mountains). You could say Sigilyph represents the origins of art.

I love how in ORAS in Rustboro there’s an Ace Trainer that gives you a Float Stone and is subsequently replaced with a Hiker. His dialogue is what makes the scene so hilarious

the float stone is badly named, its battle effect halves the weight of the pokemon holding it, changing the power of moves like grass knot and heat crash

Much like how Gen 5 has the best Pokémon sprites too. Sadly, Michael doesn't think so, and therefore, we are superior.
Most of them are really similar to their Gen 4 counterparts.
Personally I prefer the Gen 6 artworks representing the trainer classes.
Especially sense gens 7 and 8 are so…. stiff and bland(?) since they’re 3D models and the others are 2D and can be more expressive. But gen 5 has the cleanest sprites and I loved gen 6’s insert drawings

But I think that’s way too far of a stretch to be accurate. As for Koffing… uh… idk somebody at Game Freak must think Koffing is cool or something

I love Fire-red and Leafgreen! To hear their are exclusive trainer classes in my favorite pokemon games is awesome!
(Side note> crush-girl & painter classes give out ALOT of $ in Fire-red/Leafgreen, specially when Amulet coin is in effect. Maybe that's a super small part of why they are in only 1 set of games?)

I think that the twins in Diamond and Pearl who used Pikachu and Clefairy were pretty clever: Both were at one point at least considered to be the Pokémon mascot.

I would assume with CRUSH GIRL and PAINTER class were for the post game stuff, mainly the Sevii Islands and that area was more modern that Kanto. Modern as in the game mechanics, Pokémon, and of course the trainers. Basically modern classes for Kanto.

On the off-chance that you read this, Mikey, I’d love to see a video where you give gym leader teams to all the player characters. I can give you a start by saying that the Johto protagonist (Kris if you count them as three characters) would probably be water type. There’s a box art water-type in Suicune, one of Lyra and Ethan are seen with Marill in HGSS, and Kris has Feraligatr in many iterations. Just a thought.

18:00 the reason why Sunflora is there is to reference famous art pieces and artists like Van Gogh and Georgia o’Keefe. Sigyliph is based on wind chimes and Pueblo or other desert art from my limited research.
