I know I'm late but... Even though I'm just 18 years old... I kinda look up to you. Your parenting is amazing and your connection with your son inspires me to always try to connect with my children, as not a lot of children these days get that level of love and care. Seriously, you are quite the amazing person, so keep it up :)
I shiver in 75F water and a breeze. Credit given to being in that water. Cold is my biggest sensitivity. You have an amazing family and it shows by how you treat each other.
Omg.... Honestly...i Love how Loving everyone is towards each other!❤️❤️❤️ Also ,the maturity level of your daughter while in the tub (clearly listening to your every word) was epic! The love between all of you! Good Lord! Ughhhh! So much Love🥰🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️ You're all old souls❤️ #familygoals
Wow that scenary is so nice if that's your Garden. And loving the content once again. Thought Max was actually brave with what he did manage to put into the water. It's a great start
Wow, was not expecting that dialogue towards the end with your wife there. What a beautiful living example of a healthy, loving relationship you both set for your children. Your viewers can learn a lot from you. Love this type of refreshing and wholesome content! I subscribed!
Hey thanks!!! I actually didn’t expect that dialogue either! 😂 I just love my tribe. But let’s be honest. Marriage is hard, and parenting makes it even harder. We’ve seen some pretty dark seasons. We’ve fought for each other, and we’ve fought to stay together. What you saw at the end was the result of a marriage forged in the fiery furnace.
I loved this video, loved this spontaneus experience, loved that smile on Maci's face, Max trying to breathe while getting his hands on the water, that beautiful conversation... You're an inspiring family!! If you wish I suggest to watch Jonna Jinton's videos on ice baths, they're really cool!!
So awesome to see the connection you guys have! Definitely feel challenged to try an ice bath like that someday, meanwhile until spring actually bothers to turn up, just going outside pretty much does the same thing! ;)
You are such a great dad. I just watched the bathtub video and you were so encouraging to Max. Your children are so lucky to have you. You should be motivational speaker (new to the channel here). Showing people they can overcome ANYTHING in their mind. Our minds control so much and we shouldn't let it.
Okay lol, you guys have just convinced me you are officially nuts ha ha. I had to go under 3 blankets to watch this. Seems the only one with the smarts there is MAX. Thumbs up for Max - the smartest boy on the planet!! Thumbs up 👍👍👍
Group just left and I'm going through some serious WA withdrawal. What better way to buffer than see my brother and his family demonstrate the love they share as a family. I love all you guys.
I'm scared to take cold shower not mention how hard would be go in ice water, I love your beautiful family, its motivates us after watching your videos
Macie!!!! What a bad A!!! Who the heck has that much courage at 16?!? You will follow suit behind your dad AND mom. WOW! Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, clearly!
Maci has more grit and mental strength than I did at her age. That is for certain. She's turning into a total savage. Physical strength too. If you would have asked me to run 5 miles, or mountain bike 2,000 vertical feet at her age, I would have laughed at you. But that's who she is. She has her momma's toughness.
I hope one day Max works up the nerve to give it a try. I think if you guys keep doing this every now and again maybe he'll decide he needs to try to fit in... but then again, maybe not.
Yeah, I think I scarred him with the cold bath a couple years ago. 😂 You're right though. Maybe if we do it enough, he'll try. We did a family sauna session last night for 30 mintues, then went straight into a cold shower. I thought Max was going explode! 🤣 He wasn't a huge fan of the shower.
I have been taking cold showers for 2 whole years now! Every day, always on the lowest setting. I agree that it feels like needles at first. But then I feel so alive. Just focus on breathing and give yourself a mental coping mechanism to get yourself in. I think the mentality of entering a cold bath is truly an old soul thing to do. It requires a person with a certain maturity that sees something as "stupid" as getting into freezing water as being an opportunity to mentally blossom. Your daughter is on another level, especially for her age. Keep on growing and loving each other and improving your mental being!
Man the control over your breathing is amazing. I get into my pool at 70 degrees and it’s a damn struggle to keep myself from gasping too much from the cold. And once yah start, it’s sooooo hard to get under control. I can’t imagine in a literal ice bath lol.
I can understand you very well . i had anxiety and OCD for a long time without even knowing this is not normal . I have been reading recently a book for treatment of OCD which recommended Exposure (and response prevention) therapy for best treatment for fears and negative thinking and thats how I see your attitude doing Exposure which is a recommended treatment for the mind.
Seems like family fun. I am happy for you! Ice baths makes happiness true and worth it. Also, good for endurance and survival! Just like my job at Amazon.
sometimes when im out side i sometimes used a hot tub i like using the hot tub cause it helps me with my sensory issues maybe your son could also try floaties
Hi warrior, I've just subscribed to this channel........i watched few minutes ago the exercise you did with your boy with cold bath, beautiful and IMPORTANT. I train in and with ice and ice water. You made me cry a lot with that video. Your son is a warrior 🙏💪💪♥️❤️ I'm in my 20years old and cried like a child 😭😂😂😂
Oh, Roger. Dude. You gotta try it. There are a ton of health benefits. Just do some research. It’s incredible. Mental, physical, and spiritual. The benefits of cold water therapy are pretty awesome.
Hi Amy, I wish I could fully explain all the physiological benefits of it, but I can't. I know a little about it, but more than anything, I know 'why' I have to do it. It's hard. Your life expectancy in the ice water is minutes, not necessarily hours. So immediately, your body goes into fight mode to stay alive. I like that my body, for whatever its worth, stays in tip top shape and my immune system has shown noticeable changes since I started doing cold water stuff a couple years ago. But mostly I do it for the mental strength. There are so many things in life that can drag you down mentally. I find that if I train my mental strength with saunas, ice water, and other stuff, I can withstand all of life's other challenges way better. Challenging yourself to do hard and uncomfortable things shows you what you're made of, and makes you stronger. I feel like I have to go to great lengths to be the best dad and husband I can be.
Hey Chad. Can I ask your opinion on the Mark Rober x Next for Autism thing? On the surface level it sounds amazing, but I heard a LOT of backlash about it due to Next For Autism’s associations with Autism Speaks. I don’t particularly support Autism Speaks myself, but as an adult I do appreciate the goals of Next For Autism and think the money raised is wonderful if used for the right things. Just curious about your opinions on that, if you’re willing to share. Having a son yourself who’s quickly reaching the teenage stage in life where he’s going to be figuring out his future, I thought you’d be a good person to get an opinion from. I know unfortunately a lot of opinions regarding Next For Autism and especially Autism Speaks can be quite controversial, so I understand if it’s not something you want to get into.
Brianna, I honestly haven't done enough research on Next for Autism yet. However, this isn't the first time I've seen a bunch of negative press with them. Same with Autism Speaks. It boils down to this. What we neurotypical parents think about all this stuff doesn't matter nearly as much as what autistic folks think. On the surface, to a neurotypical parent, those organizations don't look too bad. It wasn't until I started listening to autistic adults speak out about them that I began to understand the beef they have. And it makes total sense. Free thinking, free spirited autistic people don't need to be fixed or cured. Some of the most fascinating human attributes come from autistic people. When an organization wants to prevent or cure autism, those amazing people are marginalized about as bad as it gets. So I completely understand their position. If you could do something that no one else on the planet can do, would you want someone to cure you or prevent anyone in the future from doing it? Sounds silly when you put it in that context. However, here is where the neurotypical parent flips the coin. On the other side, I see autistic people that have such severe negative attributes like self-harm, or harming others, that I can't help but want to see change. I really can't imagine a world where people really enjoy smashing their head against the floor, or slapping themselves repeatedly, or be completely debilitated by sensory issues. And many times, those folks can't speak for themselves about autism, Mark Rober, Next, or Autism Speaks. If they could, what would THEY say? Would they want someone to develop a prevention or a cure? As you can see, it's a sticky spectrum. I don't have any answers. I just see what I see. When I have questions, I default to what other autistic people say first. I do wish that the autism community could relax a little more about the way we communicate these sensitive issues. This is precisely why I left Twitter. There is so much noise and so much negativity. I was actually super nervous to start Conversations in Autism with Max in fear that everyone would hate us. I've been incredibly overwhelmed by the support. I just want to see life through the lens of understanding and grace, and talk about things in a clear way, while trying to also bear each other's burdens. When we come to the table with grace, feel strongly about our convictions, but are willing to lovingly discuss others' viewpoints, that is when we all win. And that is why many in the community don't buy in to the Autism Speaks or Next programs. It's their way, and no other autistics were invited in to the conversation to see if it actually makes sense or not. Mark Rober would have done 1,000 better to invite autistic creators and celebrities into the show. When people leave out of the conversation the very people they are trying to help, that's called hindering.
Chad Youngquist Great response. I share the same sentiment that autism itself doesn’t need to be cured. But as someone who has super bad sensory issues, very severe OCD (that manifests into debilitating anxiety and intrusive thoughts), and Misophonia...I can’t say I wouldn’t change that for myself and others if I could. There’s been many a nights where I’ve wished those things away. But there’s also some really amazing parts about myself that I wouldn’t change. My ability to just..understand astrophysics and concepts so many people struggle with. The way I look at the word mathematically and see science and mathematics in literally everything. There’s so much about autism that is so beneficial to the human race. It’s a perspective of the world we just wouldn’t have otherwise. But it comes with its downsides. I can’t exactly support autism speaks due to the whole narrative that autism is something that could let alone SHOULD be cured. I think we should be focusing on symptom management, not trying to rid people of “autism”. I say it with quotes because it’s such a massive spectrum. Who and what exactly would we be curing? What do we lose, as a species, when we rid ourselves of such a varying degree of people and varying perspectives of the world around us? I was myself was a little disappointed with the lack of autism representation during Mark Rober’s livestream. I do love the guy. I respect him. But I think it was hypocritical. It seems he got SO caught up in trying to bring awareness that he went with all the biggest names he could get. But..that in itself is a complete lack of self awareness and representation. Why not have more actors or singers who are actually on the spectrum? It certainly wasn’t a mean spirited oversight. But it was exactly the sort of oversight that his fundraiser seemed to be trying to prevent.. If I were him, and I was going to fight for autistic representation....well..we could start with ourselves. That’s why I respect your channel so much. It isn’t a dad talking to the world about autism. It’s a dad talking to his autistic son, and therefor having a dialogue with the world, about autism. He easily could have had more autistic people as guests. Instead of having little video clips of autistic people being interviewed briefly about their goals, have them cohost. Have more than a small few of guests who are actually autistic. Make it part of the program, to have an autistic musician perform. Auction off some artwork by an autistic artist. Have them apart of the actual show itself. It just seemed like he lacked a bit of awareness there, yah know? I don’t think he’s a bad guy who intentionally aligned himself with problematic people. At the end of the day, he’s a father wanting to change things for his son and others like him. I respect that. I’d have just liked to have seen maybe more representation. And for him to take the time to know who he’s aligning himself with. Because if we’re being real, those oversights..they’re the exact reason we have an issue in society. It’s like the movie the singer Sia made. She wanted to bring awareness, but had a neurotypical actress play the part when she could’ve easily had an autistic actress play that part. I saw people saying “well then they’d have to hire a higher functioning individual and have them pretend to be lower functioning, or else it’d be exploitation”. ...well..okay? If I had to, I’d rather see an actual autistic person depict that, than a neurotypical person playing the part.... There’s just this lack of self awareness that hypocritically baffling. Anyways, thank you for the response. I very much so respect your insights into everything. Have a wonderful week!
I'm not sure I'm educated enough to properly do so. I know that they help my mental toughness and give me grit. I know that the body goes through some physiological changes when in the ice, that can be very beneficial as long as you don't do anything dangerous.
Haha! Actually, I'm pretty sure the cold baths and showers I take are the reason I HAVEN"T gotten a cold in a couple years. It totally boosts your immune system.
@Sofie Dina S Hi there. I'm no doctor, so I don't know the facts or truth behind my answer. But here is how I feel. I would take a cold shower or cold bath while having a cold. The feel like the heart rate increase and your body's fight mentality kicks in to help the body heal faster. Allergies, however, I have no experience with.
@Sofie Dina S Interesting. Yeah, like I said, I'm no doctor, so who knows... While Wim is no doctor either, he can definitely speak to the cold showers more than I can.
I'm pretty sure you're aware of the risk? If your daughter is not used to iced water, it's a bit dangerous, don't you think? Here's what Google says: "The reactions of the body may be muscle spasms and hyperventilation. Other symptoms may be an increase of the pulse and blood pressure. Sudden immersion into cold water may cause cardiac arrest, even for a healthy person. ... Cold water can paralyze the muscles instantly."
Dangerous? What is danger? Covid? Traveling by plane? Eating fast food? Living in fear? Everything in life will kill you. Choose something fun. Push the boundaries. Become a stronger human being. Live like today is your last day.
You are not just an amazing father, but also an amazing husband, and you have an amazing wife and amazing kids. Stay safe!
Thanks, Danne!
💯amazing family
Amazing!! I caught the mention of your wife enduring brain surgery and thyroid cancer.
You'll be seeing more of Jamie very soon. And yes, we will be talking through family trauma, and all the stuff that has made us who we are today.

I'm not sure I'm educated enough to properly do so. I know that they help my mental toughness and give me grit. I know that the body goes through some physiological changes when in the ice, that can be very beneficial as long as you don't do anything dangerous.
This is amazing!!!!!!!!!
Give it a go!!
Well done guys!

Thanks for the input Matt. We're already working on it.
Watching that made me cold
Careful, u can catch a cold by that
Hahahhaahahahhahahahahah
I'm pretty sure you're aware of the risk? If your daughter is not used to iced water, it's a bit dangerous, don't you think?
Here's what Google says:
"The reactions of the body may be muscle spasms and hyperventilation. Other symptoms may be an increase of the pulse and blood pressure. Sudden immersion into cold water may cause cardiac arrest, even for a healthy person. ... Cold water can paralyze the muscles instantly."
Dangerous? What is danger? Covid? Traveling by plane? Eating fast food? Living in fear?
Everything in life will kill you. Choose something fun. Push the boundaries. Become a stronger human being. Live like today is your last day.
