    All my citrus died in the heat last year. This year new ones are inside. I had a shade cloth and watering system.

    Thank you for the straight forward, straight-to-the- point explanation for fertilizing. Typically, I get dizzy from all the hype and that is why I liked when you advised not to buy into it. Also, thank you for sharing the type of slow release fertilizer you are using. Your demonstration fed my thirst for visualization and will hopefully help my little lemon trees😊🍋

    Hi, thanks for all your content, you changed a lot of misconceptions I had about gardening. I have a question regarding the amount of fertilization and watering in hot areas. Do you think the frequency of fertilization in hot areas, and specifically in the hot seasons should be higher than non-hot areas? I mean that a slow release fertilizer that needs to be given every 6 months, under watering in a hot area will probably wash out of the tank faster than a tank located in a less hot area and so less watered. What do you think about this?

    Osmocote has to be the most economical fertilizer there is. You actually are using one with a really good ratio. 3-1-2 is perfect.

    I’ve got a couple young lemon and Orange trees….and they’ve already got tonnns of tiny buds, should I prune those off or let them fall off….there’s no way my tree is strong enough to support all those fruits so I figured I could redirect energy to root or maybe a few buds I keep. What do u think?

    What's the best container a tall container or short and wide. Does it make a difference?

    • @qctropicals
      @qctropicals  Рік тому +4

      Taller containers are better. They allow the roots to go down. Short containers, roots tend to grow out the drainage holes a lot sooner than taller.

    I live in Texas. Is it okay to grow trees in black pots in hot climates? I recently transplanted my trees into black pots and have been noticing people saying that the roots can 'fry' due to how hot the black pots get in the heat of summer.

    What about trace elements ( micro nutrients)

    • @qctropicals
      @qctropicals  2 роки тому +7

      There are chelated micronutrients in the fertilizer we use. Even if there wasn't, it would take years before they became deficient. Most of these plants will be planted in the ground before them. Also, bugs get in the potting mix, crickets, rolley pollies, etc. Their poop has trace minerals :).

    • @qctropicals
      @qctropicals  2 роки тому +2

      if using instant release fertilizers, very slow amounts usually every 2-3 months during the growing season. Or better yet, 1/10 the recommended dosage, monthly.

  • @noelfisher1829
    @noelfisher1829 Рік тому +1

    This is so typical. This particular gardener claims this one fertilizer is great. But this is not good for every plant, and those numbers are important, and someone selling plants doesn't feel the private issues plants have in their home's. Etc. I wish I didn't have to wait to the very last two minutes to hear his point

    • @qctropicals
      @qctropicals  Рік тому +5

      Numbers are irrelevant, any slow release fertilizer will work. I put plants before my wallet and grow most of them for personal use.

  • @AwakenedOne447

    If they grow like weeds, why do we even import them from other countries?? 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @qctropicals
      @qctropicals  2 роки тому +12

      Import the fruits?. We import most of our produce simply because it's cheaper to grow it in other countries in the quantities we need. System in the U.S. is not farmer friendly if you didn't know.
