Bought this key fob camera to use for work and it paid off within ten minutes! Great image in a restaurants interior. I can honestly say that I have made money from watching your reviews. As always, thanks for reviewing....
I purchased this camera for the purpose of FPV and it did not come with a manual. I wasn't real concerned but decided to look it up on you tube and ran across your video, exactly what I was looking for. Great information, great job. Thanks!!!
I'll dig mine out again and try the new firmware with the Win7 software again. Yes the Mobius is from the Company who make the #16 camera and the #26 is from HTInter who made the #18 camera as well as the DR32 car cam.
You can view some of the same footage taken with the Mobius camera in that camera's review. ua-cam.com/video/7wmIyD1fM4M/v-deo.htmlm45s I installed both cameras side by side in the car window to give you the ability to compare the quality between the 808#26 and the Mobius camera. A few idiots have suggested that the footage is the same - perhaps rather than typing junk they should have spent another couple of seconds looking at the different time stamps on the bottom left of the clips.
I wanted both reviews to stand on their own rather than as a comparison. You can see many of the same clips in both reviews though and a number of the downloadable samples were shot at the same time - So I've given all the ammunition anyone would need to be able to compare both cameras and make their mind up as to which they prefer. It's like buying a car - there is no 'best' car - you should choose the one that's closest to meeting your needs. So if you want a camera that looks like a keyfob...
Sorry if it was answered already (could not find it), but YES, setting the date/time is setup automatically, using the PC date/time, nothing else to do. Just got one, and it work fine with my Win 7 laptop. Thanks for a very nice video Techmoan!
Bob...did you ever get the Setup Software connecting with your #26...I'm assuming you put it into 'setout mode' a detailed by theWolfTamer71 (below). I'm pretty sure I did it this way, but it was over a month ago, so my memory of this is vague. Also, I'm guessing that when it gets cold outside the waterproof case will mist up due to the heat generated by this cam.
Personally I prefer the Mobius cam - but if someone needs a waterproof case and 'spy' camera styling then this is the next best thing. It's really designed for PC users though - so I'm not really the target market.
Ive just purchased a mobius,,thanks to your hard work and effort, yet another brill review!! I thank you,for introducing me to the minicam world!! (where will it end haha) Cheers Matt, hope your health issues are sorted!!
So, maybe Mat's secret mission was to promote this places as holiday hotspots and we didn't realise it. Very well done MI6 agent Techmoan. It's rather impressive that that tiny camera get image in 1080p
Re the LED, I drilled and installed the top of an old LED as a light tube as I've done with my other key cams. Greatly improves the vis of the flashing LED. It's easy to do this on the old key cam, but when I opened the case and tried to ease out the camera module I found it had been glued in and actually broke a piece of the module case. Glued a blob of epoxy in to fill hole! The case is a bugger to take apart and put back together compared to the old key cam. And I still get lots of crashes.
OK, no problem. I like the Mobius review and it was fresh in my mind when I saw this latest review. Threw me a bit and I wondered if you'd grabbed the wrong file. Quality looks very similar. Rob
Just found my key fob camera. I used it for my radio control planes. I pressed the reset button with a miniature metal rod ( needle ) charged it up for the first time since 2010 and still works good in 2021.
Thanks Joe, I checked out your video comparison, very helpful. . . Since there has been some requests for a wider view for the mobius I wonder if the #26 has plans to include a ~120 degree lens option . . .
Great review, as always. Seems like you talk faster but your videos are still getting longer! Good thing they're a small joy to watch. The intro/outro is a classy affair, too. Top notch.
Hello Matt, Thanks for the review! You are getting quite efficient at getting through the relevant bits these days ;) What I was hoping to see in your review was the 'angle of view' comparison to the Mobius . . .? Since the Mobius is the chief competitor here, I'm sure many of us will want to know how it compares in video and audio quality . . . (for example in low light) ? Can you give us your impressions? (after all, you are 'the' expert, and we have come to trust your opinion ;) Cheers!
Pure entertainment for about 20 minutes, 20 seconds of being happy when I let it buffer and then the review itself. Quick question to you Matt, do you prefer this over the Mobius Camera? I myself got the impression it did what it was supposed to do but had more downsides in general, except for the "waterproof" case which would be a great addition to the Mobius. Once again, great review, keep this up!
Nice review, these small videocams have surely got a long way. One thing I 'd like to know if these have decent Battery charge/protection circuits? Those old versions were quite notorious on ruining lithium batteries.
Plus, as has been mentioned on RC Groups, the cam is likely to get exceedingly hot in the waterproof case, as the heat sink effect of the case will be lost. (Wish I could have joined you on your cruise, looked nice!)
I bought the Mobius because of Techmoan's review, and I couldn't be happier. It has everything I could want for only $70. The only flaw I've encountered is the 2 metal heat sinks get very hot, especially on a dash in the sun. Anyway , that's my 2¢
No Matt haven't managed to connect the GUI. Don't have windows 7 and as I had so many crashes when I 1st got the cams through trying various button pressing sequences I'm reluctant to experiment. I see a 'new' firmware on RC Groups but I'm still using original firmware. Don't think it's an important update? I've asked the developers to bring out an XP GUI and told them not many people have 7, but nothing appears to have happened. The Mobius developer told me the 26 is from a competitor of his.
Oh my god, you came to Malta? :D Hope you enjoyed it mate, I really found it surprising watching this because only a week earlier I was right there in Valletta taking stills :)
I have just bought this camera but it does not come with a dashboard mount. I think the review showed some accessories available for purchase. Where can I get a suitable mount to go in a vertical windscreen truck?
+Jorge Linares . I have one of these cameras, it is not bad, but I also have a mobius which has better quality video in my opinion. I recommend if you are still looking for a camera get a mobius or mobius 2 if it is suitable for your application.
Hi Matt, I've been wondering how you got on with the 26#. A few points. Good review. I tested the waterproof case (video to follow) admittedly only a couple of feet, but it was waterproof. My buttons seemed to work OK though the small window fogged quickly when you removed it from the water and it difficult to clean. As far as shaky holding goes, I've got and tested a few of these and I hold the cam with two hands, you get used to holding it level too. I agree the Mobius has the edge though.
Hello, Great review on this cam. I was wondering do you think it would be possible to modify the cam in some way so that it shoots in landscape when holding the fob on its side, with lens still pointing out in same direction. Or do you think that would likely risk breaking the camera.
Hi techmoan, Thanks for sharing this video and your review. Just wondering if you could tell me in your opinion which "do you think" is the best keyring model from the 808 series?
Thank you for the review. Great information as always. I am puzzled about the concerns regarding the shape, and do not remember the shapes of the other fob cameras being a concern. Were the others flatter at the bottom? For the waterproofing, perhaps you could put a piece of toilet tissue in the case and submerge it like that?
Techmoan, out of all the action cameras you have reviewed, which in your opinion will be most suitable for fast paced airsoft games but still at a price range of £60?
You have to put the camera in setout mode to get Windows tool to recognize it. First you will need to download the drivers. You only need to do this once. Plug in USB and make sure the camera is off. Press and hold both power and shutter buttons down until the red light starts to fast flicker, then let go of buttons
Hi, I've seen one of these on eBay and I have 2 questions to ask you... 1. #16 or #26? 2. I've seen one on eBay that says it has "Motion Detection" capabilities - is this true? Have you ever seen this function on it? I think it'd be cool if it has as the battery life - as you say - is about 70 minutes. If that is 70 minutes "working" time on motion detection, I can see it being perfect for the purpose of leaving it in my room whilst I'm not there. Your response would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Hey Tech, love your videos. Had a few quick hitters for you: How does uploading work when you transfer the vids onto your computer. Have you noticed any complications and is it difficult to figure out? And in terms of the 1080P recording, will the full battery life give you 1 hour + how many minutes of recording can the device handle while on charge? Thanks!
I have the same cam and i love it.. do you think it's safe to use an external phone power pack to charge the keychain on the go? Also this camera is good for 2013.. do you recommend any newer ones to fit today's quality? (4K? 120fps? no fish eye preferrably)
Hey how you're well. Great reviews. May a quick question. I lost my 808 original charging cable. Chucks website states that going and using another off the shelf one is not an option. Due to possible + - switches. So what options do I have apart from going back to the seller. Thanks.
anoter good review, i bought a contour hd after watching your reveiws for my motorbike trip to scotland ,sadly the usb charging lead was faulty and i was unable to charge it upafter the first day, was gutted, keep up the good work
Problem I have with mine. For every recordings on the camera, it seems to be some kind of AVI audio file and does not get recognised or is comparable with some video players and editing softwares whether it's Windows or Mac. Is there a way I can solve this?
Good explination/review as always. I was just wondering if you knew that behind the date/time stamp was ther mentioning? Hetai 26? I hope your vaction was nice. At least it loooked good :-)
Thanks for uploading. Very informative. I'm a bird watcher and I need something that I can use to film a birds nest 24 7 rain or shine I was thinking motion activated would be good but sometimes that takes 2 or more clips for something that could be done in one clip so I'm not to fussed. At the moment I'm focusing on one nest that's in a hollow in a tree. The hole that the birds get into is about 5cm in diameter and will stay pretty dry but I'd like something I can water proof just in case there's a storm or something. It also needs to be changed at the most once a day. Got any recommendations? Thanks.
Unfortunately my 808 #18 and the #26 did not come with the extra cables. Any Idea where I can get the AV out cable and also to use it as a dash cam, charge and record at the same time. I live in the lower 48 USA Question number 2..if you go with the 1080 at 60 how much time before a person fills up a 32 mb card. I realize that I can run it on a loop but was wondering if not the loop, how much play back would I get providing it had power to it. You mentioned about 70 minutes or less on battery time. Thank you and sorry about my dumb questions as I'm trying to learn, zero tech savy trying to put the pieces together. I am reading at RC site. I did find one AV out cable link there but shipping is two months, I did order it but by this coming June may be too late for my personal travel plans. Never did find the other cable, thank you, signed, Tech enabled, lol,,,thank you again. I did find a Samsung phone data cable with the right connections but had no idea if it would charge and run the video at the same time.
I thought this was an excellent review and demonstration! Since this was reviewed awhile ago, may I ask your recommendation on a pinhole camera which I could DIY mount into my motion detecting porch light and POE for power and data to my NVR? Thank you!
Many thanks, Excellent review, as usual.Returned a faulty Crocolis from anntech/amazon, which they decided to refund rather than replace. Will now buy this Mobius instead
fair enough. i almost got the sj1000 but the shipping takes a while and i wanted my camera pretty soon. looks pretty good though. how is the sj1000 underwater?
Can u tell what kind of usb cable does it use? been looking for some time a new charging cable for my 808 but haven't found the right "micro usb" cable that fits in it..
This is probably a bit too late to say but anyway... This long verion of the TECHMOAN-intro is so bloody cool. The only think that would make it cooler in my opinion is if you edited out your hand, so it looks like the r2r just starts spinning all by it self! And of course, thanks for all your interesting videos!
Techmoan could you possibly do a review on the 809 car key micro camera. I'm not too tech savvy and I would like to see how my camera functions with wifi.. Bluetooth...Ty.
Does that metal include metals that they want to get rid of instead of dumping it into the environment? Lately the metal chinese toys we've been getting are scrutinized for lead paint, etc.
BTW, a little off topic, but I have an older keychain cam that's only 720p I use in remote control airplanes. After a series of small thefts in the office, I put it on my keychain and left it running on my desk pointed at a co-workers purse. It caught another co-worker stealing money from her purse and the video was used to get the thief fired.
Hi Techmoan, I'am a big fan of your Video Reviews, thank you so much for this. Could you answer me one question please, what would you more prefer? The Mobius cam or the 808 #26 cam if you compare the picture and sound quality directly? Thanks in advance. Regards from Frankfurt Germany
Bought this key fob camera to use for work and it paid off within ten minutes! Great image in a restaurants interior. I can honestly say that I have made money from watching your reviews. As always, thanks for reviewing....
excellent review - this vid was made 7 years ago - just wondering you would review more for similar key cam products for the latest in 2020
I purchased this camera for the purpose of FPV and it did not come with a manual. I wasn't real concerned but decided to look it up on you tube and ran across your video, exactly what I was looking for. Great information, great job. Thanks!!!

You can view some of the same footage taken with the Mobius camera in that camera's review. ua-cam.com/video/7wmIyD1fM4M/v-deo.htmlm45s

Is this spam? This looks like spam.

wow for that size, i was expecting something crappy but working. 1080p? technology is advancing faster than i thought
WARF3RE Hello from 2019
Sorry if it was answered already (could not find it), but YES, setting the date/time is setup automatically, using the PC date/time, nothing else to do. Just got one, and it work fine with my Win 7 laptop. Thanks for a very nice video Techmoan!
Both cameras were in the car window at the same time. All the UK footage was shot concurrently with the Mobius camera.
My god ur reviews are thorough
damn fucking right.
They're excellent reviews. Top marks.
I'll see if I can get something together with the common footage I've already got.
wow... what a comprehensive review...
and for 20 mins... it wasn;t boring at all...
kudos to you

which of the hidden cameras that you have reviewed have the longest time frame of recording?
Personally I prefer the Mobius cam - but if someone needs a waterproof case and 'spy' camera styling then this is the next best thing. It's really designed for PC users though - so I'm not really the target market.
Ive just purchased a mobius,,thanks to your hard work and effort, yet another brill review!!
I thank you,for introducing me to the minicam world!! (where will it end haha)

Yes they were both recorded on the same journey.
Great picture quality. Shame there is no viewfinder.
So, maybe Mat's secret mission was to promote this places as holiday hotspots and we didn't realise it. Very well done MI6 agent Techmoan.
It's rather impressive that that tiny camera get image in 1080p
Yes it was great - 38ºC is a bit more than I'm used to though.
This was shot with my old Sony HX100V....but it's more to do with using a tripod and good lighting rather than the camera.
I think for something like that you'll need a really wide angle lens - so perhaps the SJ1000, but it's a bit flimsy.
I don't like m-jpeg cams, so unless the specs in the advert are wrong then it's not one for me. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Re the LED, I drilled and installed the top of an old LED as a light tube as I've done with my other key cams. Greatly improves the vis of the flashing LED. Yes, that's the decision you are faced with.
That's some pretty impressive video quality for that class of cameras!
I strapped two of these things on a rocket, they worked pretty good! How to Build Homemade Rockets With Cameras
How long does the battery last.
JD Rock i use the 808 on my toy drone. ua-cam.com/video/htkJEhlCwlA/v-deo.html
around 30 minutes, +/- some minutes depending on the cam settings
My preference means very little - I'll let you choose the one you like best for your needs...I just present the evidence.
A pretty comprehensive package for what is essentially a novelty item.
Thanks Joe,
I checked out your video comparison, very helpful.
Top notch.
I love your mini cam reviews you are very thorough . It'd be great if you did reviews on all the incognito cams.
Hello Matt,
Thanks for the review!

Nice review, these small videocams have surely got a long way. One thing I 'd like to know if these have decent Battery charge/protection circuits? Those old versions were quite notorious on ruining lithium batteries.
Where can I get the software to change the settings from?
Great to see you've been to Malta!! Hope you liked my country :)
Love your comprehensive reviews. You got me about 300 quid poorer lol
Plus, as has been mentioned on RC Groups, the cam is likely to get exceedingly hot in the waterproof case, as the heat sink effect of the case will be lost. (Wish I could have joined you on your cruise, looked nice!)
I'll try this again when I get the chance.
I bought the Mobius because of Techmoan's review, and I couldn't be happier. It has everything I could want for only $70. The only flaw I've encountered is the 2 metal heat sinks get very hot, especially on a dash in the sun. Anyway , that's my 2¢
Very good review as always. In the market again for another camera soon probably, and your reviews are very helpful.

Hey Matt what camera do you use for these Reviews Plus I want to start doing a Review type videos what do you recommend for me to try and review?
I have just bought this camera but it does not come with a dashboard
mount. I think the review showed some accessories available for
purchase.
Where can I get a suitable mount to go in a vertical windscreen truck?
Hi, so how is the camara you think? Very good?
Jorge Linares the camera is great but it doesn't have the features I require so it's going back to amazon. Can't get it to work with WIN 10 either.
oh I see I appreciate your time to reply me,
thanks.
Hello,
Great review on this cam.
I was wondering do you think it would be possible to modify the cam in some way so that it shoots in landscape when holding the fob on its side, with lens still pointing out in same direction. Or do you think that would likely risk breaking the camera.
Hi Matt! I just noticed that you're testing the #26 and Mobius at the same time, based from what I've seen in your sample clips.
Hi techmoan, Thanks for sharing this video and your review.
Just wondering if you could tell me in your opinion which "do you think" is the best keyring model from the 808 series?
Love your reviews. The little camera sounds like fun to have and shoot with. Sometimes you just have to have fun! :)
You tested recently SJ1000, Mobius and now #26 ... all in similar prices. Which one of these 3 is your preferred cam? Which make the best video?
Thank you for the review. Great information as always.
I am puzzled about the concerns regarding the shape, and do not remember the shapes of the other fob cameras being a concern. Were the others flatter at the bottom?
For the waterproofing, perhaps you could put a piece of toilet tissue in the case and submerge it like that?
Techmoan, out of all the action cameras you have reviewed, which in your opinion will be most suitable for fast paced airsoft games but still at a price range of £60?
Hi, thanks for this review. Any chance of a side by side video comparison with the Mobius by the competitors?
You have to put the camera in setout mode to get Windows tool to recognize it.
First you will need to download the drivers. You only need to do this once. Plug in USB and make sure the camera is off. Press and hold both power and shutter buttons down until the red light starts to fast flicker, then let go of buttons
After seeing this, I'm glad I went with the Mobius. Thanks for the review!
How much heavier is this model compared to earlier/smaller versions? Also, is it still considerably lighter than a Mobius or RunCam? Thanks.
Hey Tech, love your videos. Had a few quick hitters for you:
How does uploading work when you transfer the vids onto your computer. Have you noticed any complications and is it difficult to figure out?
And in terms of the 1080P recording, will the full battery life give you 1 hour + how many minutes of recording can the device handle while on charge?

I remember my first Key Chain Cam. 360p or so. And now its 1080. WOW
This camera looks better than some high-end smartphones! Impressive.
Hey how you're well. Great reviews. May a quick question. I lost my 808 original charging cable. Chucks website states that going and using another off the shelf one is not an option. Due to possible + - switches. So what options do I have apart from going back to the seller. Thanks.

I am gonna keep an eye out on this. I may use this as me rear dash cam. I use a DR32 for my front dash cam and it works great.
Good explination/review as always.
I was just wondering if you knew that behind the date/time stamp was ther mentioning? Hetai 26?
I hope your vaction was nice. At least it loooked good :-)
what camera do you recommend for night and dark conditions? do you think this would be a good one? may be using some editing software?
Thanks for uploading. Very informative. So you basically need live picture mode in order to get the camera adjusted for proper view etc in a car?
Does the usb charging adapter plug into a portable TV usb port to use the TV out option? ....or do I need a separate plug for TV out?
what small camera do you most recommend (do not suggest 808 because they dont ship to my country) good vids btw
So why was it the guy didn't want to sing? I couldn't understand what he said :(
I just bought a 809 car key micro camera. I would like to see a video for this camera.... it is very much needed.
Many thanks, Excellent review, as usual.Returned a faulty Crocolis from anntech/amazon, which they decided to refund rather than replace. Will now buy this Mobius instead
question, you say battery life is 70mins but how long can you record in 720p vs 1080p??? or does the memory outlast the 70mins ??
fair enough. i almost got the sj1000 but the shipping takes a while and i wanted my camera pretty soon. looks pretty good though. how is the sj1000 underwater?
Can u tell what kind of usb cable does it use? been looking for some time a new charging cable for my 808 but haven't found the right "micro usb" cable that fits in it..
Thank you very much for the video. I have one question: does the camera gets warm while recording?
Shicong Lu Yes.
Great review as always and think this will be my next key cam for my rc flying.
The picture quality looks great. Where can i by them now? Because the links you're given has no longer existed.
night time footage part of Mobious and 808 # 26 taken at the same time in same car. Is not it ? That's good to compare low light capability.
+Magnus Wilén I plan on re-doing the intro in 4K, so I'll keep this in mind, thanks.
Techmoan could you possibly do a review on the 809 car key micro camera. I'm not too tech savvy and I would like to see how my camera functions with wifi.. Bluetooth...Ty.
Is the boat the Caribbean Princess? I went on there a few years back.
Thanks for the info and Thank you for taking time out of your day to reply to this comment and keep doing what you do -Ryan
How well does the camera in indoors, low light. With just a nightlight on or something of that magnitude?
Does that metal include metals that they want to get rid of instead of dumping it into the environment? Lately the metal chinese toys we've been getting are scrutinized for lead paint, etc.
Hello, what do you think about the new 808 HQ30 camera ?
That a soldering iron scar on your right hand?
Can this, or a similar looking gadget, be set up for *voice recording* only? I need an excellent battery life and don't need the video.
