- As someone who has never owned or stayed in a Westgate Resorts timeshare I have heard a lot of things. Many of them bad things. From resort fees, to fees to use the WiFi and many more reasons why we would never want to stay at a Westgate Resorts property. In this video I go over everything we've heard in the past about Westgate and tell you if it was right or wrong. I'll set the record straight on everything bad you may have ever heard of about Westgate Resorts.

Thank you for your review on Westgate. We are owners at Westgate Lakes. So much bad information out there. There are people bashing Westgate that have never stayed or attended a presentation. You're about to make a lot of Westgate haters really mad with this video. Great Job!
Thanks for watching. I must admit, we went in with very low expectations given all the bad things we had heard. We were actually quite surprised how nice the resort were. Certainly better than we expected and the rooms were quite nice. For us the room is very important as we do spend a lot of time in the unit. Even though I am not an owner I am a member of your Facebook group. I appreciate anyone willing to take the time to help educate owners on how to get the most of their ownership. It certainly doesn't help to dwell on bad or negative experiences that you can no longer control. For us, the timeshare product is great. The sales practices are questionable at best. This applies to every timeshare developer. Best to learn to use what you own to get the most value from the product. Thanks for watching and sharing :)
It’s not a bad trade with interval either.. I was able to trade my 1 bedroom Westgate vacation villas for 2 bedroom at Marriott Chatau in Vegas and this year I was able to trade for a 2 bedroom at the Marriott timeshare by Disneyland Paris! So excited 😊
I've been following a Westgate Facebook group and the owners of the group say the same thing. They do well using their ownership in Interval International. Though they also talk about ShortStay exchange where they get two 6-night stays out of their one deposit. I don't think the availability options are the same with ShortStay, but it seems like a way to stretch to get even more from a week deposit.
@@DestinationTimeshare yes short stay is def a great perk! I stayed at Westgate palace once. It’s very close to I park and universal! It’s more like a residence, no balcony. High rise. I enjoyed my stay there! Have a great time!
I stayed at Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa in Orlando July 2024. I had a 3 bed 3 bath lockout. I got it on Interval as a getaway and loved the resort. I had a great time, the unit was huge, loved the pool and waterpark. I did decline the timeshare presentation but I don't have anything bad to say about the resort. I stayed at Westgate Town Center years ago and loved my stay there as well.

We have a few Westgate resorts near us in Branson. Every now and then we’ll exchange into one of them because they allow pets (for a fee of course). Quality hasn’t been an issue but, we’ve learned to always book a 2 bedroom, even if we only need a 1 bedroom. Some of their resorts have “one” bedroom units that are only a studio with a door between the couch and bed. That happened to us at our one and only stay at Westgate Town Center many years ago. When I look at Westgate Emerald Point in Branson, the 1 bedroom option says queen or king size bed. The small one bedroom has the queen size bed. I’ve seen similar about the Westgate in Gatlinburg TN.
So long as we’ve had a 2 bedroom unit, we’ve really not had much to complain about with Westgate.

It does sound like they've mellowed out a bit. I don't do their timeshare tour because my friends did it one time and were gone for 4 hours! LOL. I am not committing 4 hours to a TS tour but for the price I've paid to stay at them with getaways I thought they were decent value for sure. They were dated rooms so glad they are finally getting around to updating things. Definitely beats staying at a cheap Kissimmee motel but if the Getaways or the Accomodation Certificate will pull a Marriott or Vistana instead well I'm going to pick the Marriott or Vistana instead. Orlando has so many nice options and seems this one is nice to know that it's getting better. I feel the same way about Wyndham Cypress Palms. It doesn't get much love either but the rooms are great and the location can't be beat either, right next to Cracker Barrel ! LOL
We'll have to check out Cypress Palms. I see it in Last Call quite often. As to costs, we have found Marriott and Vistana getaway prices have been higher this year which is why we opted to give the Westgate properties a try. Thanks for watching!
No thanks, will stick to Marriott/ Sheraton resorts. So many activities & nightly entertainment. I would rather pay a bit more. Westgate has not changed as far as timeshare presentations go which we did years ago. They gathered us all in a room, provided breakfast & if someone bought they would ring a loud bell & announce to everyone so & so just bought....a real turn off as this should be private. They didnt want to let us go...finally my husband just got up & walked away. Even though it was newer the place never gave us that vibe that we would be interested in purchasing.
Fell in love with Marriott properties & bought there!!! So glad we did! You definitely get what you pay for.
So was your issue more in regard to the bad sales experience rather than the resort and room itself? We attended a Westgate presentation and I must say, it was a unique experience for us. More to come on that.
I was always hesitant to book a Westgate Resort. Still hesitant but you did open me to this option
You can usually get a good deal in getaways. The price couldn't be beat. There were a few drawbacks but overall the resort was fine and we found the rooms to be pretty good. Thanks for watching!

Loved this video! Miss Westgate lakes so much! Spent 6 weeks there during the Covid fiasco lol so jealous wish I could get the platinum escapes there I’m blocked out because I own at Westgate vacation villas .. which I don’t like much lol 😂 oh you should see the sales room in Las Vegas! They were brutal but it looks like you are on a movie set of Star Wars. I left very confused lol did your villa over look the lake? Those rooms have amazing sunsets!
Thanks for watching Jen. We certainly liked Westgate Lakes and Vacation VIllas was great too. We even booked a getaway at Palace. The getaway prices are hard to beat. Too bad they block you out from being able to book them. We did have a lake view villa on the 5th floor. Our room looked more toward the south though, so no direct sunset view but it was still great. We don't plan to go to anymore Westgate timeshare presentations.

You must have received some compensation from this company. There is absolutely no reason to ever buy a Westgate timeshare. No value whatsoever.
Did I say anywhere in the video that someone should buy a Westgate timeshare? No, I didn't. I didn't receive any compensation for this video from anyone or any company.
You are being too nice about west gate. Few years back we had the nightmare experience. In one night we just wanted to get out of there and give up on any promotion they offered us. I believe we were offered free dinner at one of their property restaurants and 1 day park tickets all we had to do us attend their presentation for $199 for 3 nights at west gate. I told them to charge my credit card for the stay and forget about the other offers. We just wanted to get out quickly. Would you believe that even after the presentation nightmare they still wanted to keep us there longer by not processing our bill.
They are the lowest of the low

I just booked the Marriott Grande Vista…would you recommend it over Westgate Orlando Villas? It’s about a $300 difference (cheaper)?
I would probably still stick with Grande Vista. The overall feel of the resorts are different. It is hard to explain. If this is your only trip to Orlando or you don't travel that often, keep Grande Vista. Thanks for watching!

2:28 - That is hardly a "resort". Looks a lot more like a crappy apartment complex.
I would agree, but the property was developed in the 1980s. It isn't that much different than Sheraton Vistana Resort that was built at the same time. Though Vistana Resort does keep their amenities in better condition.
Great video. I am going to give it a try. I am a interval platinum, will I be required to sit through a timeshare presentation? Is parking free?
No fees for parking or anything else unless you wanted to do certain activities. You don't have to attend a presentation when staying on an II getaway. They may try and convince you to go but just say no. In fact, at Westgate Vacation Villas they didn't even ask us at checkin. They slit a letter under our door on the first full day making us an offer to attend a presentation.
