You do realise that the THE most expensive way to get from Heathrow to Central London is a black cab. Next time, my advice is to use the Elizabeth Line train to Paddington.
We do now but we had no experience with underground transportation so we were a bit leary as one would be. So instead we decided to go the traditional route which was expensive…yes, but now that we’ve experienced the underground trains we absolutely love them and would definitely travel that way next time!
Or ( for future reference) you could use the tube into central London, depending upon where your hotel,is located. The downside of the tube is at the time of the morning you landed the tube would get very busy as you headed to the centre. As a Londoner and often travelled from the US back to London, I would never take a black cab ( unless someone else was paying).
Love it when Americans check out the UK, I'm obsessed with watching this kinda stuff. I used to live about 15 miles outside central London and went in maybe 15 weekends a year, felt like a tourist every time because of how vast the buildings and roads are. Other UK cities tend to me "smaller" in that regard. Highly recommend you guys visit Manchester and Bristol one day!

The hotel you stayed in is on Tottenham Court Road, the same road I work on! Also the reason there were so many leaves on the ground isn’t because it’s autumn, but because recently the UK has had very hot temperatures with next to no rain, which means the trees shed their leaves to retain as much water as possible. Autumn isn’t until September/October.

Welcome to the UK. London is one of my favourite cities. Tons to do, places to go. Black cabs are expensive from the airport as Heathrow is on the outskirts, Uber’s a bit cheaper, but for very little you could have got a tube train right into central London for less than £5 each. Enjoy the rest of your stay. 🇬🇧
Alternatively, if you’re keen on seeing “the view” while travelling from Heathrow into London, a coach from the airport to central London will cost from £10 to £15 per person.
Our Fall (...or Autumn, as we call it!), also starts in October/November. However, due to the extremely long hot dry spell this Summer, deciduous trees dropped some leaves early.

I really loved the genuine nature of this video (being very familiar with the area) - London is so full of sites ! Couple of things, the leaves dropping in late August was due to drought earlier in the year - autumn is late Sept. Your "Harry Potter" accent is fabulous, especially if you're 13yrs old ! You'll be fine to use it in London b/c no-one is English - if you go outside of London (esp to the North of England) they're likely to think you're mocking them (imagine talking like Forest Gump all over the US) - anyway welcome
I was thinking "Your English Accent" is better than Dick Van Dyke's in Mary Poppins 🙂 ... and probably better than my American accent - but Renee Zelwegger does a convincing English accent in Bridget Jones and I believe Hugh Lawrie is a convincing American in House.

People not eating at a pub doesn't mean its a bad food place, some pubs are just places where people like to meet and socialise with a drink. They offer food just in case people are hungry too.
You two sure do a great job of showing the feel of the places you visit! Never been there so really enjoying this! Alisa you look so dang sure with your little grown in do! Love it💕
That tall building is the British Telecom tower. The top of the building used to have satellite dishes around the outside and back in the 60’s the top revolved with a restaurant inside. Now it’s just office space for BT
The tall thin tower you saw was the BT Tower - a communications tower of height: 581 feet (or 620 feet, including the aerial rigging.) It was built in 1964, and due to its importance as a telecommunications asset, it's location was originally an 'official secret' (despite the fact it's clearly visible from miles around,) and in a court case in 1978, the judge ruled that it couldn't be identified by name and was only allowed to be referred to as "Location 23"
When I visit other cities in the U.S. & countries abroad I love getting a tour on the Big Red bus (where available) to see a layout of the city. Then the next days go to the sites of interest.

Our 1st time to London was in 2019. We took the tube from the airport, with one change over, to our AIRBnB near Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. We did it with my parents who were almost 80, plenty of luggage and it saved us a lot of money. We were up for an adventure, and it turned out great, and pretty easy to do. I think it took us a little over an hour. The tube is a great way to get around. Next time, give it a try. They generally eat dinner later in the evening in Europe, closer to 8. We had great pub food like fish & chips, savory pies, bangers & mash. Also better priced we felt in the pubs then in the restaurants. There is so much to see & do in London, which I'm sure you're discovering. I see you also met up with Stef which is great!!!! Enjoy every moment of your trip! - Coreen
Great to see you in London, people tend to go to the pub for a drink after work and eat later , evening. That probably why people weren’t eating in the pubs.
I live right by Heathrow airport and it can take hours to travel 14 miles from home into central London depending on how awful the roads are on that day. Living here all 48 years of my life, I love London and my favourite restaurant is on Charlotte street, MERE by Monica Galletti. Amazing food and people. Happy travels xxx
Born and bred Londoner here... I absolutely loved watching you lot! I'm a painter and I've worked on houses, pubs, nail bars and all sorts exactly where you are. It's so refreshing to see your perspectives. And you're dead on...pub food ain't always the best, however a Sunday roast at a traditional pub (check the reviews)... should do the job 🫡
Welcome to London. Virgin is the best british airline so good choice. Only first time vistors use black cabs from Heathrow. Train is only £10 into town and quicker too. Leaves are dropping because we are having a drought.
Looking forward to your vlogs from England but CANT WAIT to see them from the Prima!! We are loyal NCL and have booked her out of Galveston in early 2024 for our 30th wedding anniversary. So cant wait to see those. Plus i have a bucket list to hit Ireland and Liverpool so would be a great ship i think to do that. Cant wait to see the new deck and outside design for that deck. The layout of the ship seems cool AND loved that instead of making the new "biggest ship in the world" they kept capacity down and focused on guest common areas and the rooms bigger

Great vid you two, glad that you're enjoying our great Capital City. The tall tower you noticed is the BT (British Telecom) tower. It was constructed in the 1960s and was a major communications and switching hub at the time. It was bombed by the IRA (Irish Republican Army) in 1971. Sorry mate, but the English accent is gonna need some work!! Best wishes from Essex, England.

I've been begging my family to go on a trip to England and other countries in Europe. I guess I'm just going to have to say "Aye we are going to England for holiday next year whether you like it or not!". I mean I got my passport and I got some spare change. I'm gonna make it happen.
I know alot of Americans and other nations love as they call it the British accent, in England obviously where the English language comes from, we have thousands of accents not just how your speaking.
There used to be a Mongolian restaurant serving goat stew on Charlotte Street - it was good! Behind Charlotte Street, to the south, there’s even more restaurants. In the evenings, pre-covid, those streets were stuffed with people. Some of those streets wind their way back to Tottenham Court Road or Oxford Street. Ah! You found some of them. There’s 50k pubs in Britain. There used to be one on every corner. Pubs - after work, people concentrate on drinking and maybe the odd snack whilst they can still stand up and function. Then they gorge on kebabs or burgers on the way home - usually on the train I’m on when I’ve not eaten. You didn’t quite find Chinatown … dozens of other restaurants.
Jason, please stop with your British Accent attempts ! You might think it’s funny, it is NOT. It would be like me saying “y’all” all the time. STOP. Looking forward to your London escapades and seeing you cross Abbey Road!

People not eating at a pub doesn't mean its a bad food place, some pubs are just places where people like to meet and socialise with a drink. They offer food just in case people are hungry too.
So exciting!!! Love this. Also, THE HAIR. You can definitely rock short hair no problem. I loved the buzzcut and you just continue to GLOW!!
i live in London and watching you two makes me see it through fresh eyes! you are both such a joy
You two sure do a great job of showing the feel of the places you visit! Never been there so really enjoying this! Alisa you look so dang sure with your little grown in do! Love it💕
The first pub mentioned in Charlotte Street, the Fitzroy Tavern, is where George Orwell used to drink.
Y’all look like you had so much fun!! Definitely making me want to go even more❤
I hope you enjoyed yourself and come bk soon ❤
Excited that y’all are in London… can’t wait to see how the trip goes
I live in the UK. The leaves normally fall in September/October but we had a heatwave so the leaves have been falling earlier this year!
Alisa's hair is at such a cute length. Almost makes her eyes sparkle. Have fun yall!
I was born in Richmond, Greater London now live in the West Country, so glad you came to UK lovely to see you here. Have a great time
Y’all make my day… I love y’all’s variety of travels!!
Keep us watching y’all! Y’all could be on tv… y’all are versatile! Fun!
Do you like saying y'all?
@@BilboBiggun007 haha! Whoops… that was a crazy moment… the South is getting to me! Thank y’all! Haha!
The pointy building is the post office tower - now the British Telecom tower. You used to be able to go up there, pre-terrorism days.
Congratulations Jason: Your English accent is probably the best I've heard from an American since Dick Van Dyke in 'Mary Poppins' 😋
Haha
Brilliant content. Your fist night in London.....wow felt like a full week in .london . All the best xxx
When I visit other cities in the U.S. & countries abroad I love getting a tour on the Big Red bus (where available) to see a layout of the city. Then the next days go to the sites of interest.
Thank you for the video, it's very good, I hope you reach your destination safely.
Girl, Im loving your short hair! 🎉 I am visiting London for the first time next November and so excited about that! You guys made me even more excited-thanks for sharing your trip!
Alyssa, I love you without that wig! You look amazing!! GI Jane 2.0. You rock it girl!🤘🏻🎸
Loved seeing this. Lived in London for 8 years love it and love seeing your reactions
Loving your new adventure! I want to go to London so badly. Glad you gave the Thai Pineapple Curry rice another chance. One of my favorite Thai foods.
Love that you are embracing your hair Alisa. Looking forward to the rest of your vlogs ❤️
Planning to go to the UK this upcoming spring 2023, thank you for this helpful video!
I have to say Alisa I love your short hair! I can not wait to get back across the pond. I am spoiled, we are home from a cruise and now I want to plan our next adventure. Y'all are cute! Have a fun straight away! Fall? Fall is November in N. Alabama!
It's so nice seeing you travel around my work area.
- Coreen
ridiculous post. you obvioulsy got no sense of being in the UK... the tube is good fr getting around ... no way!
Great to see you in London, people tend to go to the pub for a drink after work and eat later , evening. That probably why people weren’t eating in the pubs.
London. One of the great cities of the World.
You did so well there on your first day after such a long flight, what an entertaining video you put together nice one 👍
So did I for 25 years. The area changed so much during that period I began to think I was living in Mumbai.
48 years Emma? Bo youngsters,PLEASE😀
Leaves are dropping because we are having a drought.
you are correct on all 5 counts.
Yeah I came to say this
I loved every minute of this video… Brought back great memories of my first trip to London
Would love to be on this ship, the Viva is due next :) ua-cam.com/users/shortsaQW7EXgSE7s
I’m lovin this so far, accent is good but can improve, glad you found a good boozer straight off the bat, I’ll look forward to the rest of your trip and previous vlogs, that was the old post office tower which I think is called BT Tower nowadays.
"Get to know the local culture"... walks into Starbucks, lol. Seriously though, as a Londoner, watching your enthusiastic first impressions of London was great- I hope you enjoyed your trip...🙂
If you want to experience the 'local culture' head for the council estates in South London. TIP: Wear a stab proof vest inside your shirt.
I'm exhausted watching this! You guys are troopers! Loved it!!
What a coincidence, your first episode that I’ve watched and you visited my parents old pub, The Fitzroy Tavern. We lived there when I was age 13-15. Hope you enjoyed your trip to our fair capital. Safe travels.
I've been begging my family to go on a trip to England and other countries in Europe. I guess I'm just going to have to say "Aye we are going to England for holiday next year whether you like it or not!". I mean I got my passport and I got some spare change. I'm gonna make it happen.
Hi from Scotland, hope you had a fantastic holiday.
What else are you doing there?
The NCL Prima inaugural is Saturday!???
We board Prima on Friday!!
@@EECCTravels I sail on the Prima out of Galveston on Halloween. I will be closely following your cruise.
@@EECCTravels any chance you will also be on the Enchanted Princess for its Transatlantic on Sept 2nd to NYC? We are booked on that cruise too.
@@DavidAdkins78 cool! I'd like to see that. 😀
I will make UA-cam videos of the cruise including a tour of the ship.
The leaves don't normally fall this early but we've had a super dry summer so a lot of the trees have been shedding early
I know alot of Americans and other nations love as they call it the British accent, in England obviously where the English language comes from, we have thousands of accents not just how your speaking.
The tall skinny building is the Post Office tower.
It used to have a restaurant on the top and it revolves 360• degrees!
Ditch the wig. You look so cute in the short hair and earrings!
I agree you look so good without the wig, you can really tell it’s a wig, you have a beautiful face for short hair, you look so young. Have fun!
18:22 the "tall, skinny building" is the BT (British Telecom) Tower
come to Liverpool
We are eventually lol
@@EECCTravels excellent!
Alisa, you totally rock the ‘no wig’ look… keep cool gurl😍
No Why ! Jason likes the accent and he regularly does it when on his cruise's . Totally no offence intended.
Good observation 👍 on the pub food, people tends to have lunch and evenings are mainly drinks and social gathering. However pubs in suburbs you can. see some food
Great you Guys thanks for sharing.... Have Fun!!!🎊🎉🎊
Subscribed, you both seem like really nice people, I enjoyed watching you experience my country :)
I'm glad you enjoyed visiting our country and my home town👍
Stumbled across this. Loving you guys. Love from the UK
Went to London for the first time this year. I love your videos helps me relive my experience. Lisa I vote for no hair, you look beautiful with hair but so stunning without. 😊
We found that in other countries they tend to eat later than we do in the states. Love the pups for the English atmosphere.
