I sympathize re Chardonnay. I found out why I really, really dislike Chardonnay during a winery tour. Chardonnay is oaked, and some people (me for instance) can taste the tars from the oak barrels used to age the wine. Since most “good” red wine is also oaked I avoid red wines, unless I know it hasn’t been near an oak barrel. I can stand Unoaked Chardonnay.
Remember that on motorways, you drive in the left lane unless overtaking. If you stay in any of the overtaking lanes while not overtaking you are breaking the law
Cab-Sav is not a good first option for a person who doesn't drink red. The tannins can be very confronting. Try a Merlot next time or a Rose in Summer and then work your way up to the outstanding South Australian Shiraz.
Double bad luck. Storm Bert has just passed, ushering in Storm Conall. These are two unusually severe Atlantic low-pressure wet-weather systems. As a Londoner over 50+ years, I can't remember it ever being wetter. Enjoy your visit, anyway!

Okay so some people will tell you don't go to the tourist places etc etc. But if you want to go to Buckingham Palace, Horse Guards in London etc, do it. Enjoy your holiday, do it your way and have fun. There are many great places in the rest of the UK, such as Cornwall, in the South West of England and there you can get a genuine Cornish Pasty. If you do manage to get to the coast, watch out for the seagulls, they will rob your food, poop on you and then laugh afterwards.
