For an American to say they had the best pulled pork sandwich is the UK is impressive! British food really is incredible. Thanks for a gorgeous video. I love your energy!
I thoroughly applaud the amount of pubs you went to and the beers you drank - you fully fit in with the British crowd :-)
Don't feel guilty, eating the food while traveling is part of the experience. It's one of my favorite parts of your videos.
Thank you for being so respectful to our country.
Maybe when you two lovely people go home you can let your family and friends know the myth about British food being bland and tasteless is exactly that A MYTH, anyway stay happy and healthy everyone ✌️
Good morning from London, the myth regarding British food being bland & tasteless goes back to the second world war where a British soldiers rations were very bland and tasteless because this was the best way to preserve the food.
The reality is British food is incredible and is a staple for the western world like the English breakfast and the English roast dinner including the great English pie, the great English sausage & much more 🇬🇧👍⚔️
BUT it is bland, most of the brit food IS BLAND, since more cultures have relocated to Britain hence overall you might find some spice taste etc,
The New York Times journalist Robert Draper reckoned Londoners ate (quite recently) boiled mutton and porridge. He may have been correct about the porridge though.
@@gordongekko3174 That IS now British food. That's what Brits do with cuisines, assimilate
@@wynfordemanuel4792 shouldnt be in the position hes in with that level of ignorance lol. the guy is a couple of centuries out. best i can do is my grandfather liked to eat beef dripping on toast
A couple of days in the UK and you are taking about the weather. We approve!
I'm drooling like a Labrador here! This reminds me how much I love Borough Market. I'll be down in London in a few weeks when my daughters baby arrives. I will be doing a sneaky diversion to Borough market and a few more of my favourite London haunts - there are a lot of them!
Can’t beat steak and kidney pie! And the sausage rolls from the Ginger Pig, in Borough Market 🤤
I love it when Alisa says "Holy crap" that's good. With all the Walking you are doing you will be fine. Glad you are enjoying the experience.
Good to see some of you travel bloggers destroying the myth that you can't get good food in the UK.
OMG, the food looks so amazingly good. It has been 20 years since we visited there and now I look forward to a future trip.
My love for London is great. I live in London Wimbledon best diverse city in the world
People, who have never tried British food take the piss and completely dismiss it, straight off the bat! Really glad that you guys had so much fun in England. Can't wait to get back home this Christmas 🙂
You guys are so likeable & I have enjoyed all your videos of your time in London.
It’s fascinating to me to see you guys explore my city & get your thoughts. Love it
But one of them is a female, mr Gilmour ! I despise that saying. Leave it "over there".
@@blackbob3358 I’m well aware of their genders but appreciate you clarifying that for me 🙄
@@blackbob3358 My Friend "Guys" is an American term covering both genders.
@@blackbob3358 Oh dear, black bob is offended......who the hell cares? 😂😂😂
So glad you are enjoying London! Grew up in Knightsbridge! Golden memories!!! The late 60s early 70s magic! 😇🙏🎊🎉
You guys are seeing more of London than I have in 35 years 😂😂. BTW you guys really seem comfortable in London!
So glad you guys enjoyed my hometown. London really suits you. Great blog as usual.
Absolutely love you two. A really lovely couple and so entertaining.
I just wanted to say Thanks for your recommendations we went to Spitalfield Market today & ate at Dirty Bagel. Let me say how yummy their pulled pork sandwich was. Delicious 🤤 Love watching your travel videos !
I love how you put "the" in front of all the locations - "the" Tower Bridge, "the" London Bridge, "the" Borough Market, "the" Spitalfields Market...lol! To us locals they're just Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Borough Market, Spitalfields Market...
That said, do love your relationship, you guys are so cute together and your personalities make the videos fun to watch.
Damn. Yeah, I suppose that's an American thing. That's really interesting. When you refer to places like London Bridge and Borough Market, are you referring to it as a place or moreso an entity itself?
I really gave that some more thought.
We Yanks say things like The Washington Monument, or The White House. I've no idea why that's a part of our American English. Proper nouns don't require a "The".
I’ve noticed that with an American friend who is currently in Scotland visiting “The Edinburgh Castle” and “The Stirling Cathedral”. It just sounds really odd to have that definite article in there.
Americans use articles more in their speech. "I spent the week in the hospital."
All the food looked amazing, and congratulations on soon to becoming grandparents ,. It's a feeling you will cherish forever.
You’ve inspired me to go back to London , purely for the food 🥘 !
Thank you for being so positive, just found your channel, its lovely to see you enjoying life so much ....cheers
I'm glad you guys enjoyed Borough and Spitalfields so much. They are my favourite places to go eat. Normally followed by the Bermondsey beer mile.
I think my wife and I like watching yall so much because we literally act the same way when we travel. Yall make touristy places look fun and make the best of it.
So pleased you enjoyed your stay in London and that you enjoyed 'English food'. I've lived in London all my 57 years, as well as my friends, and none of us eat at these places because of the prices. WAY WAY to expensive, a tourist hot spot. Like any city anywhere in the world, you can get great food, IF, you know where to go.
I love hearing you both talking about diets all the time, then eat 7 portions of glorious food a day.
Thank you for your happines
Just binged the London videos, very enjoyable watching people explore as i am only 15 mins train ride to central London. You've explored more of London than i have in 29 years! haha
The wind on London Bridge can sweep you off your feet sometimes. HMS Belfast is moored up next to London Bridge. That’s worth a visit, too.
Spitalfields is an ancient market. Now surrounded by businesses, as well as a few of the original London hospitals.
Great Vlog featuring Borough (pronounced Borra) Market just 1/2 mile from where I was born in 1954 and 1 mile where I lived for the first 29 of my fantastic London years.
Now live 11 miles away on the very edge of S E London and the beautiful County of Kent and since 1983 it truly has been the best of both Worlds😀
Thank you so much make wonderful video on my childhood on London Street Food Borough Market love it
Steak & kidney is a great combo in a pie, especially when made with love. Glad you enjoyed the food, us Brits get bashed for our 'bland' food but you made scotch eggs, sausage rolls and pasties (your Weymouth vid) sound like heaven.
Which they are.... no one should ever mix up "simple" with "bland"
@@mrkiplingreallywasanexceed8311 I agree they are heaven so long as you avoid the rubbish they sell in supermarkets and buy from those who know how to make them. Our 'bland' food myth dates back to 1945 when we were on rations and the American GI's assumed it's how we always live. Times have obviously changed since then but many are still too dumb to figure that out.
or as we like to call it Snake and Pygmy Pie 😀
I remember the markets when they sold fruit and veg ,used to drink in Borough market when I lived in Leather Lane, although I preferred the Founders Arms at Blackfriars
Don't feel guilty about eating what you fancy whilst on holiday. You can't be on a diet when on holiday. Lovely video, lovely couple.
Amazing video. London is on my bucket list after this video it just got closer to the top of my bucket list - so many things I didn't realize and the foooddd yum! Thank you for this!
We absolutely loved it! We were only supposed to spend 3 days in London and extended to an entire week. We can’t wait to go back!
I just started watching your vids today and subscribed A joy to watch you both having fun on your trip to London..Im looking forward to your future vids where ever you may roam xx
I'm loving the double entendre's!.....You both have a great sense of humour! 😃
Love all the food stops on your tour of London!
Everything looks so tasty 😋 I swear I feel full just watching this video🤭
Thanks for another great vlog on your trip to London. Love anything with local food! Enjoy!
Loving your videos guys , really sweet couple , you’ve both done a great job on showing the better side of London!
Steak and kidney pie, yummy! My father called it Kate and Sydney pie.👌
At Spitalfields you were less than 10 minutes away from Brick Lane Beigels - the BEST salt beef beigels around…
hi again also go brick lane market not to far from london bridge ,get a taxi in early hours of the morning as the taxi drive to take you to the bagel shop brick lane, everyone has their favourite, try the salt beef bagel , 2 shops next to each other, plenty of history ,enjoy
Please come back and visit the UK again soon. You 2 are so good to watch. You are both so happy and watching your videos gives me such a serotonin boost.
EECC travel, Don’t ever delete this ! This will be my go to when I go to London
Just like to say to anyone watching London is a expensive city .
But things get a bit cheaper out side of the capital
And UK having poor food is a thing of the past
But these two lovely people have explored in the right way mostly on foot the best way to visit a city.
Nope, not everybody thinks London Bridge is Tower Bridge - but for some reason, every American thinks it is. So much so, that 45 yrs ago an American businessman bought the (very ordinary and worn out) prior London Bridge and shipped it back home. He was said to be somewhat disappionted with his purchase! I believe he reassembled it somewhere in the Arizona desert........
All that food looks so good ❤
Glad you enjoyed the food, and LOVE the retro Atari T-shirt however big mistake not trying the steak and kidney pie - HUGE mistake, HUGE!!!
Man I had as much fun watching you guys eat as though I was there myself!
London Bridge was situated not far from the current one. It had a lot of arches which increased water flow and it was covered in shops and houses. There is an old nursery rhyme, "London Bridge is falling down". It is worth alittle research to see what it looked like.
I could watch you both eat and describe food all day long.... I'm STARVING now!
That’s Southwark Cathedral behind you when you were eating the hot dogs. It started out as Southwark Priory. It’s over a thousand years old, too. A little smaller than Westminster Cathedral but it’s nice inside also.
My favourite place to visit when I’m there.
I’ve been to the USA many times. Every time I go someone will say “I heard your food is planned “ I always just smile.
They think our food is "bland" not "planned".
Great vlog. Making me hungry. 😊👍
I didn't get a notification, so watching this 11 hours later. Beef & kidney is lovely!! Great video, thanks
So many people are told UK food is bland, boring and tasteless, unfortunately those that tell them, have never been here or tried it 🤔
It dates back to when American troops were stationed here during the war,British people were on rations, and the troops went home thinking we always ate such basic food Unfortunately it stuck
Ya'll cover 2 of my faves...travel & food! Thanks for the great content...and taking the calorie hit (those cupcakes were drool-worthy!!)
London and Greater London is very expensive so you'll find the further away you go the cheaper it gets, but no less tasty
My friend in Phoenix sent me a picture of the other London Bridge in Lake Havasu, AZ Wow, all that looks fantastic. I'll be there in 2023. I'm also so glad I could hear you over the woman behind you who, I'm convinced, was doing it on purpose.
Winnie Wallace... We live in the Midlands. But when we do get on down to London, just like you guys we eat plenty of street food. Visit a fair few pubs and compensate by walking miles ., Excellent Enjoy your stay in GB, Have loved your video Alisa and Jason. Safe journey home.
Spitalfields is excellent,lively and tasty.
These videos really make me want to go to London.
Where do you live I’m in London
Where do you live I’m in London
Thank you both for sharing your travels with us.
I couldn't love this more!
Pies are only served hot when they are from a "takeaway" stall. People do pop in from surrounding offices to collect something tasty for supper and heat it themselves at home.
Generally there’s fewer preservatives in food over here too so that can add to some difference in flavour
Fantastic food at Borough Market…but ridiculously expensive.
Going to UK in the summer how lovely I can’t wait to try the food
That food looks so good. That baby toy was so cute. And when you said it looked liked Cleo, I was thinking when did y’all see my dog. 😂
Hi, I really enjoy when Americans or other visitors to 🇬🇧 see and enjoy the food we have to offer. Always seem to get people , who have never been , saying food is bland and boring. Not all just fish and chips 😆 . All kinds of food from all over the world.
The stereotype largely stems from US troops stationed here in WW2 when everything was rationed and much was just completely unavailable.
@@IanDarley the stereotype is real it’s just that with immigration Britain has become to learn different foods from around the world. Some real British food is good but if I had to survive purely on British food I will go insane. British food is bland. World food is not…
@@John76125 Maybe, maybe not. At least there's plenty of fresh meat, vegetables and fruit now and no more need for powdered eggs and rationed sugar. Everything during the war was bulked up with bread or potatoes and usually grey and tasteless. I like Chinese or Indian food myself, but there's nothing bad or bland about a full roast or a beef Wellington dinner + a nice desert.
@@John76125 Sounds as if you like to stereotype yourself. Perhaps the learning should be done by you.
People who say British food is bland also think the Indian or Chinese food they eat is authentic to those countries! However it's as British as gammon and egg 😂😂
I really enjoyed all of your UK trip videos. Looks like you guys had a great time! Love the tip about visiting Spitalfields market. My husband and I are thinking of visiting London later this year and I’m doing my research. Thank you and take care!
New to your channel and have to say I absolutely love your content , your personality’s shine through 👍 respect from Scotland 🏴
Great video. Keep posting.
Food looks delish you guys! Miss Mama you’re looking mighty fine, so don’t feel too bad! I think I’d like to try that sausage roll, those pastry rolls will get me every time
The original London Bridge was bought by some rich American chap and was re-assembled in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
If you guys are still in London, check out the salt beef bagel shop on brick Lane. There are two next to each other but dont go to the one with the orange heading. Check them out and let us know what you think!!
We used to go to a Bagel shop there early mornings. I am talking 4/5am. I am sure it was a 24 hour shop. It's at the Bethnal Green Road end of Brick Lane. Salt beef and mustard bagels :)
@4.58, loving the Oasis bit. Food does look good, The UK has stepped up a gear on food and restaurants. Nothing like 30 years ago.
Well done chaps really enjoying your contribution on you tube . I was waiting to find out how it was going to go wrong. Normally the biggest mistake people make is at the start when they batter you with excessive talking …..about bugger all or trying to get you to follow their channel , but you two are doing a grand job .carry on like this and you will reap the rewards . I wish you all the best ……very professional. Alex morris
Love Spitalfields Market 👍
Great video as always great to see people enjoying great food happy travling
Jason lmfao "hot coq to your door" I cant stop laughing
welcome to London, your a lovely couple
Nice with the beer. Have to refresh yourself London is so tiring 😂. Need good shoes
I dont know if you knew but you can get a meal at ANY time in London, even 2am in the morning if you know where to go or ask a cab driver!
If you want high quality food, pretty much everything is available at a price. You can also obtain reasonable quality food at a more modest price, and also very cheap budget food, especially in the larger cities.
dont worry about diets on holiday! (vacation)
I love the way you said American food and were pointing at Doughnuts
I always thought do'nuts were German. Is that not right?
I'm not sure, I just associate them with American Police
Love this!❤️🇬🇧🇺🇲
Make sure you do the Bermondsey Beer Mile and the food market on the other side of the tracks.
Walk around Hyde park and you good. Enjoy the food 😋
hi im fro london great to see you enjoying yourself, i really think though that you should try london Pie and Mash, here was a really famous one called manzes near where you where in London bridge, you could also ask for the jellied eels, real proper london working class food, plenty pepper and chilli vinager all over xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The funny thing is in the past I’ve known people personally who have gone to America for work and they all said the same thing , the food in America is tasteless so they give you bigger portions to compensate 😢
It's great how you both understand the History of the U.K and Your appreciation, thoughts and perception of how people would think, For example when you mentioned the Tower of London to the backdrop of the new skyline and commented how people would have thought in the time of the concept of the tower of London if only they could have imagined the skyline now? Also, you mentioned that you may have put on pounds with the food, not the pounds we have as currency however you are not wrong as the meaning of pounds is here
The British pound has its origins under the Roman era. Its name derives from the Latin word "poundus" meaning "weight". The £ symbol comes from an ornate L in Libra. The pound was a unit of currency as early as 775AD in Anglo-Saxon England, equivalent to 1 pound weight of silver.
I’ve only been to Borough Market once and Donna’s never been but it’s on our list at some point.
When i was young there was a antique market there Now it is a very expensive tourist trap
I miss being there you need to go to scotland pitlochry its beautiful.
