The ultimate sleeper. Part of the appeal of your ZJ is that it looks almost completely stock. Plus you have those wheels that tuck up into the wheel well.......I love it!!!!!!
I love my zj! I have a 1997 5.2. 6 1/2 inch short arm on 33’s I wanna turn into an overland rig. Long story short sold it an bought it back after guy blew the motor up. So probably needs a motor. If you wanna see it it’s way back in my older videos but gonna start my other UA-cam channel about my zj. Love yalls videos and knowledge. And I’m on the gulf coast of Mississippi
Oh, and if you have not yet done so, the 5.2 zjs have an issue with the fuel lines in the engine bay. They run above the exhaust manifold on the driver side, and when they start to leak, cause fires. I learned the hard way a few years ago. My 96 5.2 burned up in the Superstitions. The fix is to get rid of the oem connectors and use rubber fuel line with hose clamps. Also recommended to reroute the line away from the exhaust manifold....
Interesting on the tire size difference. I have 285/75R16's on my 04 Tundra which are right around 33" (BFG All Terrains). Same deal though, I wanted a tire that would tuck up inside the wheel wells.
Kevin's Off-Road made a lot of great stuff for Jeep ZJ's, I have a few pieces on my 96 Limited. I got the chance to meet him some 8 years ago at my shop in Temple City Ca. we even got him to help out in the pits at King of the Hammers one year. I was sorry to see the closing down of the business a little while back.
I really like how you kept the stock bumper but integrated the winch plate. Looks clean, also keeps the cost waaay down! I couldn't justify spending over $1000 on a bumper when my zj was only worth $2k. Great idea!!
It has brackets that mount to the “frame” horns. Need to do some minor trimming to get the brackets in place. There are some videos on UA-cam on installing the mount.
Thank for the tour, and explanation. I have a 1998 Grand cherokee Laredo with the 4.0. I imagine that the same components will fit mine? How many inches of lift, and the kit name? Although I probably will not get extreme rock sliders because I don't expect to do Hell Hole or similar. (Did that on my Honda Trail 90, 50 years ago.) Your group would enjoy attempting Fordyce Lake, back behind Jackson Meadow Reservoir. And beyond that, White Rock Lake.

Awesome Jeep, those axles are Rad! How does the winch plate mount?
