- The crazy story of how I got my Jeep and why I spent so much money modifying it.
NOTE:
My mistake, I paid $1,600 in the end. The original agreement was for $1,900. Also, the KC Lights are not Daylighters, they are KC Hi LiLiTES Apollo Pro 6".

It's always so impressive to me how these car channels can be so small but make such good content. Great stuff.
Thank you so much. I do every bit of this on my own.
I would’ve told you to get bent.
I love my ZJ
I have my dad's 98 5.9 limited, been in the family since 2000. 287k miles, runs great, and totally stock. Time to rebuild her soon.
if you have a rear hatch leak, loosen the bolts and slide it towards the jeep, i got 3 zjs, they all leaked til i did that. Over time the hatch moves slightly back over the years and the rear seal leaks at the top. if you just loosen them a little and tap em with a hammer lightly, youll see it move forward a little. This also helps with the annoying rear hatch rattle these have. It makes it a tighter seal. Hope it helps. I also have 5 of these gold and silver wheels on one of my zjs, i love em. I got a green set also. I like OEM rims.
Thanks! I adjusted it years ago but it might be due for another. Good reminder!
Thanks. Good food for thought. I also have a '98. I like the tire size. I have the same wheels, so the lift will be put on the list.
Creators of Milwaukee Tools: “let’s paint it red… cuz it looks Cool😁👍🏻” haha that things awesome btw
Red is the raddest color! Haha thanks
I have the same rear bar on my 1997 gc Jeep.
It’s been a VG bar and towed some heavy trailers 3.5 to 3 tons
Nice to hear it can handle that!
@@EndlessMoneyPits I don’t go far with the load about 15 kilometres round trip.
Here in Australia I was worried about the bar not having a manufacturing plate on it for the towing and ball wait allowances as it is law here that they must be tested and stamped.
I have also recovered a few Toyota’s too and they hate being recovered by a Jeep here in Australia 🇦🇺 because we have a love affair with Toyota here.
Believe me they have not turned out to be any better than a good Jeep.
The Toyota made its name here in Australia because of its availability of factory replacement spare parts and the number of dealerships that sprung up in the country.
The V8 79 series Toyota’s here in Australia are being modified to touring machines they have the old heavy leaf springs set up removed and a Jeep suspension system fitted (Coils) and control arms. They add 300 mm to the chassis and spend BIG money on them to make them better.
The American Jeeps not fiat rubbish are simply built and easily worked on.
I just wish we got these ZJ with the V8 engines. I would like to build one but the lower water pump out let gets in the way of the steering box.
I acquired a '96 ZJ from my grandkids nanny. I wanted her have a brand new laptop better than what she was going to buy herself. She gave me the ZJ and did the paperwork for me. I let her give me the cash she was going to spend on a lesser laptop.
I have had the ZJ as a project vehicle for about 7 years now. I use it for trips out in the Mojave desert. I did buy a '23 JLU last year. But I still like the ZJ. But my mods budget may see conflicts between the 2 Jeeps.
Exited for part two! I just picked up a 95 GC Laredo 5.2 with Quadradrive. $1,200 and runs strong @215k!
I will start thinking about filming part 2 now that we're settled into the new house. Thanks!
Verry clean paint.
*So you're a drummer. Question, whats the first song you played after installing the Alpine stereo and woofer?*
That's a tough question because it was so long ago but I don't think it was any epic drum song. It was probably something bass heavy because I had just installed a subwoofer too, and the bass heavy bands I was listening to at the time included Sublime, OK Go, Third Eye Blind, and Cake. I'm a 90's child.
Nice jeep
Thank you. Nice when it's running, at least lol
I just bought that bumper for $250 new from a friend.
Which bumper? Good deal either way.
When is part 2 coming?
I'll start thinking about it again soon. Trying to organize a move from Oregon to Arkansas. Think my Jeep will make it?
Paid in stress, no kidding! Glad it worked out. PG&E? oh man.
Yep, I'll never live in California again.
its beautiful
We have the same story dude had about 1yr never in his name title too tickets on it had to bribe the other guy that he bought it off to sign the title 😅 dam old Zj owners 😂
I could see this being a common ZJ owner thing lol
"...and maybe that wasn't the most financially wise decision..." Of course it wasn't. You own a Jeep. Wise financial decisions do not apply.
That's a pretty accurate statement.
Jeeps arent that bad tho
You need to call that guy apologize and pay him the original sale agreement! You got a great deal simply bcuz you're over paranoid and scared of your own shadow.
No, I don't.
Sketchy is sketchy, whether it turns out to be true or not. You got a good deal!

Bro never bought a used car from a private seller before lol stick to the dealerships bro it’s called jumping titles people do it all the time and it’s a 1300$ car bro but you said you learned a lot from it so it’s okay other then that nice jeep man
I'd bought 7 other vehicles via private sellers and have helped friends and family do the same. Never encountered any criminal activies until this. If this is how you do business, stop.
It’s a $1300 25+ year old Jeep 😂
Has probably gone up in value since I bought it lol
You seem like a BMW kinda guy.
Nah, I use my blinkers too much.
