Casual speech doesn't have to be dumb, so it's not necessarily fair to say that Trump's speech is a sign that America is being dumbed down. That said, Trump has plenty of other qualities (many of which reflected in his speech) which I _do_ think signals a downturn in our societal intelligence. His utter disregard towards accuracy, his joyful dismissal of the artful or complex, his narcissistic ignorance, etc.

I've been saying this for years! He speaks in the same manner I gave oral book reports to my class in 4th grade. One of the key components is saying the same sentence twice in the same paragraph. This is used to fill up the page with words and the fact that I had nothing else to offer as a 4th grader.
